Murderville: The Magician's Assistant (2022)
Great concept that needs to smooth out the edges
I really really love the concept of this show. Having guest stars come in and improv as a detective in an elaborate murder theater party on paper just adds to success. Unfortunately this is not a smooth execution. I feel like this show has a ton of potential once they figure out how to implement it. The guest stars seems like they are trying to both figure out what is going on, what they should improve, what their role is, and how to make this entertaining all at once. They don't really hit their stride until towards the end. Needs to smooth out the edges, it I have confidence it will if given another season.
The Simpsons: A Serious Flanders (2021)
Best episode in years
Completely off the beaten path compared to any episode the Simpsons have ever done, but a breath of fresh air. One of the best episodes they have done in years.
The Outsider: Dark Uncle (2020)
Starting to gain steam.
I wasn't a fan of the first two episodes. It's been over a year since I've read the novel, but the first two episodes covered too much ground too quickly. I enjoyed it, but didn't love it as much as the book.
Episode Three eased all of my fears thinking the show runners screwed up the adaptation. After seeing episode three it's clear the show is in good hands. Very excited to see how they finish out the story and where they focus their attention. Anyone who hasn't read the book needs to stick with the show. There is so much that hasn't happened yet. I'm very excited to see it all unfold again.
