Chhichhore (2019)
5/10
A great story ruined by cringe-worthy acting, unrealistic victory moments, and NASTY MAKEUP.
9 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Chhichhore, very quickly, turned unbearable because of the soulless acting done by the majority of actors. From the moment Sushant Singh Rajput showed up, there were very few moments of enjoyment. The only actors who acted well were Varun Sharma and Tahir Bashin, and to a moderate extent, Prateik Babbar. Sushant failed his act and so did Shraddha Kapoor. Sushant and Shraddha didn't play realistic parents at all. Naveen Polishetty and Tushar Pandey did only overacting, not entertaining even for 5 seconds. Makeup head Preetisheel Singh did the worst makeup job that I've ever seen. One major move for showing the cast getting old was to make them bald, or push their hairline back. Absolutely no work was done on their skin to show them old for real. In the story, the H4 people were facing unbeaten champions from H3. How easy was this job? Just yell at H3 players to bring their confidence down?! Is that how it works? How can a carrom player start shivering and lose a shot because a few opponents are yelling?? Only Chhichhore logic can make that happen. H3 champs fell prey to the Losers very easily, but the opposite didn't happen. H3 guys failed to bring H4's confidence down. Obviously, a reigning champion team can easily fall prey to Losers! That is straightforward, right? By the mid of the third quarter, I couldn't watch the non-sense that was going on. It was utter how easily H4 marched towards victory after receiving the badge of LOSERS. It was super unrealistic. This was a great story, but the actors ruined it. Add to that the unrealistic turns and, of course, their older selves.

Total Dhamaal (2019)
2/10
This film would be among the Top 10 Worst Films of 2019.
23 April 2019
Indra Kumar had one goal in his mind: To leave RGV and Sajid Khan behind in the creation of garbage. From its first minute to its last, Total Dhamaal is a Total Dog*hit. One of the worst things about this film is the cheap, third-class VFX. Another let-down was our beloved Madhuri, who was a total unfit. Not that other actors were suitable, but because Madhuri is worth much-much more than this even if she isn't a mainstream actress anymore. If you are willing to watch this, you are responsible for your own choice. At the end of the day, this film had just one real goal: To print money, that is it. Rope big actors in and print cash, and it did that very well.

Watch-before-you-die.
22 February 2019
This film shocks you, relaxes you and then hits you hard in the chest. I cursed myself for discovering it so late. It now belongs to my forever collection. This is a film which doesn't merely executes a story, it lives it with compelling characters and the realism with which it has been made. Evergreen Kang-Ho Song is the ruler here with Kim Sang-kyung playing a equally essential role. The story doesn't play the happy-journey card anywhere, instead it asks some intriguing questions to the viewer. This film left a taste in me and I feel happy about it. Namaste to the creators of such incredible cinema.

Sweetness, cuteness, kindness, simplicity and humility = Kuchh Bheege Alfaaz
22 February 2019
In the horde of films that try too hard to achieve some sort of "greatness", this cute little film settle for humility and simplicity of the story and characters. The story is like a warm wind which keeps flowing. Archana is a woman that a man would desire and Alfaaz is a man that a woman would desire. Kuchh Bheege Alfaaz shows the sweeter side of life.

The Vanishing (1988)
6/10
A film which doesn't completely justify its status.
22 February 2019
I had great hope from The Vanishing, but for me, it doesn't work as well as described. From the early stage of the film, we get clues of a wrongdoing which might follow at any time. We see glimpses of the negative character and his intentions. When the vanishing happens, we have many clues about what could have happened to the victim and who does it. In the last quarter, we expect an unexpected turn, but instead, we end at a dead-end.

As a viewer, I wasn't convinced.

Why isn't this film included in the best horror films, is a mystery.
22 February 2019
I don't mean to say that Jeepers Creepers should be among the top 10, or 20, or even 50 horror films. I have myself given it 7 stars. But this film scared us silly when we watched in over a decade ago. Since then, we have watched this installment many times again and again. The Creeper is definitely among the best horror characters from me.

After a very intense first half, the film tends to fall apart in the second. The last quarter is more like a space-filler than a good follow-up. Darry and Trish are beloved characters and they make the film worth re-watching uncountable times.

If you haven't watched this classic, I pity you.
22 February 2019
There is nothing much to explain. I started watching this film with no clues about what was coming next. Now this film is embedded in my memory.

Bol Bachchan (2012)
5/10
A purely nonsensical film made watchable by Ajay Devgan.
22 February 2019
If you believe me, I have this film in my hard-drive. This film is full of usual Rohit Shetty non-sense which isn't that painful to watch. Ajay Devgan, Asrani and Krushna Abhishek make this film worth watching (obviously after preserving our brains in the freezer). I would say "don't watch" if you are looking for a lot of meaningful comedy, but "do watch" if you aren't dead serious and are looking for having some light-hearted laughs.

Ardaas (2016)
8/10
A story full of sorrow and heartbreak.
22 February 2019
Before watching Ardaas, I wasn't expecting such heartbreak. This film tells us how many sacrifices the life takes from us. We meet characters that have lost something in their respective lives. We see that in the end, life brings everyone to the same level where happiness, sorrow and sacrifices are inevitable. Gurpreet Ghuggi's character Master Gurmukh Singh is the back-bone of the film. Almost all the characters are significant and are done well. The story advances from negativity to positivity in a promising way. Watch this film today to see life more closely.

Vikram Vedha (2017)
8/10
A super-entertaining suspense film with many nail-biting moments.
21 February 2019
Vikram Vedha is a nail-biting entertainer film. We seek such stories all the time. From the first quarter to the end, we get to see a chained story which compels the audience. A lot of the goodness of this film belongs to Vijay Sethupathi. I saw him for the first time. The film tickles our brains in almost every scene. We see what we didn't foresee. Vijay, as I said earlier, was impressive as Vedha. His character buildup was very promising and there was little to no superman-power possession in characters. R Madhavan did his job well at his place. Shraddha Srinath and Prem played their respective parts very well.

If you haven't watched this film yet, you are missing a lot.

Mahesh Babu's great performance and good story intent, but the film has flaws.
21 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
(1 spoiler ahead) Bharat Ane Nenu is basically Nayak 2.0. This is the first Mahesh Babu film I have ever watched, and his acting is impressive. Six stars are for Mahesh and the story line which puts emphasis on the improvement of India. Now, why not more stars? The reason is, again, "Nayak 2.0". We are done with overly honest, sincere heroes being shown in films where the public has no other work to do except putting their heads in the feet of the protagonist. Second, the idea of villanious Varadarajulu putting Bharath in the CM's position doesn't make enough sense. Third, the role played by Kiara Advani was so weak in comparison to Mahesh's, why is this happening all the time? why not stronger roles for female actors? And fourth, the super useless superhero fighting scenes. There are more small things that disappoint, but, Mahesh and the good intention of the story carry the film.

Lock (2016)
3/10
The story seemed promising but killed by awful acting & direction.
8 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
**A few spoilers ahead**

Nobody was able to save this movie, nobody tried to save it. "Lock" is just another chaotic movie by Smeep Kang, but this time the story looked different and a little promising until it was destroyed by all the acting. Nobody acted well except Ghuggi, although he didn't show his true act, maybe he himself knew that the story and direction were horrible. The story has no soul at all, I tried my best to get some laughs from it, but failure! Karamjit Anmol is seen having a face off with the main character played by Smeep Kang himself. But Anmol's character disappeared and the movie ended, nobody knows if the fight was over or what. Same way, Sippy Gill appeared as friend/love interest of Smeep Kang's daughter, but nobody knows where this character went.

If I prepare a list of horrible acting, everybody will be on the list except Ghuggi, because Ghuggi can't act bad, he is an actor inside, although he didn't do any good to the movie.

Fan (I) (2016)
7/10
I came out of the theater with a new Shahrukh Khan after watching Fan
16 April 2016
Seriously, Fan was as exciting to see as it was to imagine. This movie is amazing, crazy and also, totally different from what SRK is known for. The movie shows how a common Delhi boy who is so-so crazy for his idol Aryan Khan (who also looks like him and that is scary!) breaks all limits to meet him. The depiction of fan Gaurav is so beautiful that sometimes I forgot that SRK himself was playing that role. The star Aryan Khanna is egoistic which is a complete opposite of what Gaurav is. This becomes a reason of their clash. The location shifted completely after intermission, which shouldn't have been done. The essence of cuteness and innocence was lost then. Punishing Aryan became Gaurav's mission and his initial image was lost completely. Scary enough was his behavior in the climax. How can a fan forget his life, his parents and adventures in order to punish his idol? this was exaggerated. But I hope the climax won't disappoint you. Ultimately the fan dies and leaves behind a memory of regret for his idol.
