Dune (2021)
Know then that is is the year 2021 and there is no story without the storyteller...
The notable absence of narration from Princess Irulan was catastrophic for me, the lack of interpretation for the scene's where Jessica communicated with Paul by hand signals and the use of Chakobsa and Bhotani and Atreides Battle Language would leave those new to Dune clueless. The hype was appalling for such an underwhelming first episode, I'll wait for a Directors Cut of both Episodes edited together, then they might have the actual film they've hyped #TheSpiceMustFlow.
A Very English Scandal (2018)
An overacting master class from Grant
Apart from Grant's outrageous overacting, quite watchable. Definitely another hit from Russel T Davies. The Political stance on the impending legalisation of Homosexuality is aptly portrayed as it was...
Chef (2014)
Outstanding
A great feel good movie, an amazing soundtrack from some mighty Latin musicians, such an absolute treat to see a film that doesn't contain one gunshot or a gun... I absolutely recommend this film, but a word of warning, it'll make you feel incredibly hungry. The food is amazing the music will have you tapping your feet and swinging your hips. I initially thought the storyline a little passée and clichéd, but keeping it simple has paid dividends. Robert Downey Jnr is on top form, Scarlett Johansson and Sofia Vergara are suitably hot, Dustin Hoffman great as the restaurateur stuck in the last decade. And last but not least Emjay Anthony pulling the cast and script together really well
Michael (2011)
Extremely disturbing
I hesitate to ask why this film was ever made, the subject matter is abhorrent, why the people that financed this film thought it a good idea I cannot imagine, so disturbed by it that I recommend that you shouldn't watch.
The ending following the principles death in a car crash after the abducted child scalds him with a kettle of boiling water, the subsequent funeral and the mother and sibling clearing his house and opening the cell door to be wondering had the child survived or starved to death as happened in the notorious Belgian case is beyond sick, to be left hanging after such distressing viewing leaves one to conclude that the script was written by someone of highly questionable moral standards indeed... Rarely have a film that I think not only should never have been made but this deserves banning...
Offender (2012)
Poor, fodder for the NEET's...
Trite contrived rubbish, probation offices with people working solo, wooden chairs in prison being smashed up as a weapon, do I need to go on... A film for the NEET's to sit at home and admire their Bredren in der yards innit. A sad pronouncement on what qualifies as entertainment. Kids conversing in restricted code. Prison officers portrayed as uncaring drug taking thieves. Portraying the justice system as broken beyond repair. Prisons a hot bed of homosexual rapes and loan sharking... Where there is nothing but violence and sedition, a very sad indictment on what passes for credible cinema. Truly Disappointing.
