The Sandman (2022)
I had rated it 9, until I watched chapter 6
The whole series is great, I love the cadence of the protagonist and the story is so original, but episode 6 takes the cake, that particular episode is one of the best TV hours I have watched.
Resident Evil (2022)
Why is everyone so stupid?
I love watching competent people making smart choices and having emotional maturity. If you share this opinion this show is not for you, save yourself from some really unsatisfying writing, unlikeable characters and the worst decision making that I have seen: spoiler alert: there are many, but how does someone tell her daughter to go alone to a zombie filled world and then forgets about it, how does a mother tell her daughter to leave the safety of a boat filled with people and escape her dad? This is beyond any logic or shred of intelligence. Also why was she so mad at her father that she left him to die since her blood was the only thing keeping him alive, any child would be happy to be able to help their parents live. And Umbrella had the worst security that I have seen. But this is nothing compared to the university being a boat hiding in a post apocalyptic world from a company that has satellites, boats are the easiest things to track down, they are so noisy and slow.
In the Shadow of the Moon (2019)
The plot could've been written by Kim Jong Il
This movie is a dictator's dream. The message is clear it's not only OK to kill the people who oppose you, it's OK to kill the ones that inspire them. Travel through time and kill everyone that has an idea different opinion to what you believe. No debating, discussing or plain talking, the course of action is murder, I think Kim Jong Un wt his panties when he watched. It.
Smart enough to time travel, but stupid enough not to use a gun. Why instead of injecting poison into people's necks (or shooting them wtf), would someone use that weird remote control poison, what's the difference? And if the signal is from the future, and travels all the way through time how does it know when to act?
But the worst part is that it's OK to be a lousy father for 27 years without any consequences if you have a stupid excuse.
And one question I have is why was Dexter an a.hole? They just say he is, but everything he did and say was OK, the blond guy just didn't agree with him. I guess people who don't agree with you are a.holes, and deserve to be murdered in the past.
OMGIDBI this is a dangerous message.
The Coldest Game (2019)
Is this movie supposed to be a comedy?
Spoiler alert
I think the mind control scene did it for me. That completely ruin all credibility of the story. I know it is not historically accurate, it was a a what if tale, but it was frame with real events, and the spies were suppose to be real, so when a hypnotist is in the audience and messes up the professor concentration, that is just dumb. I lost all interest after this.
Also the use of alcohol is funny, it is the same premise of the drunken master, a great comedy, I don't see any other way of looking at it. Alcohol is a drug, not medicine, it just doesn't work like that, it doesn't matter how smart your are.
And why did they need the blueprints of the bombs? the Americans knew how a nuclear bomb looked like, they had spy planes taking pictures over Cuba. the information from the Russian Mole was completely unnecessary.
Also, I may be mistaken about this one, I think I saw Nixon in a montage at the beginning of the film, his presidency was in the 70s, but the missiles crisis was in 1962.
How did the Russian intelligence know that the spy was going to use a cork to deliver the blueprints to the chess player?
Why did they doubt the Russian Mole even after knowing that the woman agent had an alcohol syringe ready to kill the chess player?
This is a movie about smart people made by dumb people.
La terre et le sang (2020)
Worst decision maker ever, or Mr. Frenchman and a series of stupid events
I hate when characters make stupid decisions. Sometimes they are forgivable. But here is just one after the other, like leaving your deaf daughter alone when you know some drug traffickers may be coming to the place where you left her. Or sending home workers, practically an army, who could help you protect yourself and not calling the police. If he wasn't going to call the police why not give the drug back, why go to town to call the police only to return when he saw the bad guys, and call the police ON THE PHONE. The only one with half a brain was the drug dealer, and he is a criminal. The rest of the characters are stupid or helpless.
But apart from the script you have the awful action scenes, where you don't know who is hunting who, there is no sense of geography to the scene, you don't know what anyone is doing.
And for some reason the guy has cancer and is going to die soon, but does not affect the story at all, well he then goes to sell his property, but that does not go anywhere.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Does not deserve all the hate it is getting
This movie is not nearly as bad as they say it is. I understand why all the fans are so upset at this point, but it's not because of this movie, it's because of the previous movie, how bad it was, how it didn't feel like a Star Wars movie, how the studio and the director treated fans like "man babies" instead of owning their mistakes, insulting their critics, instead of listening to them. So fans have lost their faith in the story, in the new characters. I think if that wouldn't have happened, this would be regarded as great Star Wars film. If they had done a different episode VIII, we wouldn't be here. It is not a perfect film, but it fixes most of what happened in The Last Jedi, that is a terrible Star Wars film, it's like the director didn't watch the original trilogy, it doesn't have world building, it doesn't even have a real lightsaber duel, it's awful. It makes Luke a Grumpy old man, after being the most optimistic person in the galaxy. Thus making The force awakens a worse movie. And It even kills the main villain of the trilogy, putting episode IX at an impossible position.
The Rise of Skywalker has great world building, it's action packed, the visuals are awesome, the plot picks up where they left it and course correct it, has to dig up another antagonist, it gives good arcs to the characters, mainly Rey, Kylo,C3P0 (that was cool) and maybe Finn (a little), there are new aliens. They didn't do a Holdo maneuver. If you go with fresh eyes, understand where the story is, you are going to enjoy it. I bet children are going to love it. Like I said, it's not perfect, and is easy to tear a movie apart, but it's also easy to enjoy.
The studio needs to learn from their mistakes, this movie tries to, so give it a chance. But there a bigger lesson for them, something Marvel has, a plan, a big big road map ahead, which allows them to put out 2 movies a year. There's no Star Wars fatigue, just bad movie fatigue, fans treated badly fatigue.
