Emily in Paris (2020– )
2/10
cheap spin off
21 March 2021
I didn't know they made a Games of Thrones spin off. It's quite interesting to see young Cercei Lannister manipulating and mistreating french people in Paris. They captured her character really well. Unfortunately the world looks way too modern.

13 Reasons Why: Tape 6, Side A (2017)
Season 1, Episode 11
4/10
another reason why not
4 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed watching this show in the beginning, but tape after tape, "reason" after "reason", Hannah just started to annoy me. I think this story romanticizes suicide a lot, because I just don't see any serious signs of depression on Hannah. She hast a few minor troubles that anyone has her age. Hannah blames her colleagues that nobody cared for her and nobody tried to help her or is interested in her, but she doesn't see that other people have problems as well they have to deal with. Hannah blames other people for her decision to take her own life. As the story continues I really hoped that there will come a main reason or some major incident that she couldn't handle, but no there are just some little events. But blaming Clay was the worst of it all. He is too nice. That's it. Just because he is a shy teenage boy, he now feels responsible for her death, which is just awful. Hannah really took a lot of effort in blaming other people for her death but she didn't think she should talk to her parents about her issues or leaving them at least a note. In my opinion Hannah is very egoistic and self centered. She has friends, people who like her, is invited to parties, is attractive, gets a lot of attention from boys... There are a lot of kids who don't have that at all and they try to solve their problems and don't kill themselves.

Highschool is tough. For all of us. For some it's better and for some it's a lot worse. But this story sends the wrong message towards suicide/depression and how to deal with problems. The only likable character in this show is Skye. I hope the ending will be better or at least reveal something interesting.

Spaceballs (1987)
1/10
Spacebad
23 December 2015
I watched Spaceballs a second time yesterday because I thought there must be something to it. I didn't like it the first time and I hate it even more the second time I watched it. Maybe I just don't understand this movie. Is it too smart, too deep, too complicated? Is it funny because it is supposed to be bad? It was just plain awful, I couldn't stand keeping my eyes open. Kept thinking "please just press this stupid self-destruct-button already and be done with it." If I didn't watch it in the cinema (80ies special) with my friends, I would have stopped watching after half an hour. I was trying very hard to laugh at the "jokes". I just couldn't do it.

Instead of Jabba the Hut, his name was Pizza the Hut- OMG Yoda is Yoghurt- Jesus Comb the desert!- they are literally combing the desert- HAHAHAA May the Schwartz be with you- Is "Schwartz" suppose to mean something I don't get? Is it funny because it doesn't mean something? Is it funny because it sounds like "Schwanz"?

For me it is really important in a movie to have likable characters. In this movie I didn't care for any of them. Rick Moranis as Dark Helmet was a good choice for this roll though, but all the other characters should have a self-destruct-button to press.

About a Boy (2014–2015)
1/10
about a bad TV-show
7 October 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I recently saw the original movie, which I really enjoy, every time I watch it. I thought I can give it a try, watching the TV show. Sadly, it is very disappointing. They crowded the whole plot of the movie in the pilot of the show. And I have no idea why they are doing that, they have a whole TV show for developing the characters, giving them a deep personality, developing the friendship and relationships and so, They have the time, so why do they push the whole story into 22 minutes? I really hate what they did to Will, Marcus and Fiona. They don't have a real personality. By watching them trying to act, you always feel the connection to the movie but they are missing the whole point. In this (another) Hollywood rip-off, there always has to be some kind of cheap will-they-be-together relationship between the two main actors, which is completely unnecessary. I think Hollywood can't go without this stereotype, that people who hate each other in the beginning, start falling in love in the end. Please, make that stop! It's the same over and over again in every run-of- the-mill movie/ TV-show. If you like the movie and/or read Nick Hornby's book, don't waste your time, watching this garbage.

the movie which blows
2 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I really hated this movie a lot and I almost left the cinema. It just was a really bad Forrest Gump rip off. First of all: The main character is really annoying because of his stupidity. He never thinks about any consequences or other people. He keeps blowing things off and he doesn't care if people get killed. I guess those scenes should have been funny, but to me they just seemed really cold and cruel. He even helped building the atomic bomb (which killed thousands of Japanese btw) and is totally OK with it, because blowing up things is his favorite hobby.

The plot is divided into two stories. The one where the old guy tells (someone?) about this past life which is very bizarre and unrealistic. He parties with dictators like Franco and Stalin. He escapes from the Gulag with Alfred Einsteins very stupid twin brother. And then there is the story that happens in the present where he kind of steals a suitcase full of money and never thinks about giving it back or doing something meaningful with it. Then the old guy finds some company which includes an elephant. There the story turns into a road movie where more people get killed just because they don't want to loose the money.

The movie made no sense to me and the statement behind the story may be: Just wander around in life, not thinking and not caring about any living creatures. I felt so angry after leaving the cinema because this story was just boring, not funny at all and really stupid.

horrible
25 March 2012
Warning: Spoilers
this movie was indeed horrible. It was a total waste of time and I don't even know how I could make it through the whole movie. The trailer looked quite funny, but during the movie I couldn't laugh more than once. They even destroyed what could have been funny, like when he inhaled the drugs, but even that joke couldn't make me smile. Dales voice was unbearable and annoying. anistons role was sexist and cruel to watch her. the story didn't go somewhere, even if it was a good idea to have horrible bosses, they couldn't realize this concept in the movie. Total waste of money and of good actors. I like kevin spacey a lot, but what was he thinking with that? I cant understand how it can be rated so well at IMDb. what did those people watch?

War Horse (2011)
3/10
disappointing
17 February 2012
Spielberg made a lot of fantastic movies, but this isn't one of them. The background of the movie is quite interesting, thats why I watched it. Its good to know that not only men suffered in war, there were animals too that were used and killed. Unfortunately this movie was just too much and too cheesy. The horse was so good and helped his friends, carrying the gun and so on. It was so obvious what will happen during the movie and till the end. You know who will die and who will live and that it goes to a typical crappy Hollywood happy end. Horse movies like "black beauty" and "the horse whisperer" are much better and much more emotional. "War horse" didn't touch me at all. I just didn't care at all what was going on. The story about the horse might be good for 10 year old girls, but then the war scenes are to cruel. So there is a problem to find the right audience for this movie. I don't understand at all why it is nominated for 7 Oscars. Probably they didn't see it, they just thought that steven made it, so it should be good. And it is not.
