Just loved Flanagan's prevoius work and this one is a worthy farewell to Netflix.
I guess one should be familiar with E. A. Poe's stories to enjoy it to the fullest, but it works well without knowing a word of Poe.
Just loved the way Poe's stories were recycled and set in modern era, making it relevant, spiced with a Faustian twist, combined with our current issues - AI, opioid crisis and Purdue Pharma, the Usher family is clear analogue of the Sacklers.
The cast did their best, especially Carla Gugino and the Flanagan debutant Bruce Greenwood.
I personally would have liked it darker and more gothic, and Flanagan's previous works dug deeper in terror and scare. I missed the real psychological dread which was so brilliantly executed in Hill House.
