This movie is bad!
5 February 2006
Warning: Spoilers
This is officially one of the worst movies i've seen in theaters so far this year. It's boring, plot less, predictable. It's not that i expected it to be a good movie, but hey at least it could've been entertaining. I mean i really enjoy some of the remakes that have come out (house of wax, the Texas chainsaw massacre, dawn of the dead), and i guess some part of me wanted it to be a bit better. I don't know what the hell possessed me, because the trailer was horrible! First the acting, i mean it was OK for most of the movie, but at times it was so bad *Spoilers* (like the scene where Jill finds her best friend dead, So bad. Then the movie had no plot at all! It dragged for so long, some scenes should've been cut out. And plus it had so many unscary cheap scares, and it lacked tension. The characters, most of them we're just there to be there, some just to die. That's another thing i didn't like, i mean if your gonna make a crappy movie, the at least make it gory! But no, it had to be Pg-13. The editing was too tight, and that is something i hate so much, it just ruins the experience. I mean if your gonna cut everything that quick, then don't show anything at all. The design of the house was interesting though, the house was beautiful. And i think the movie managed to get the feeling of what it's like to feel that isolated. I guess my main problem with it was that the whole movie was just this big bore-fest, and then when the action kicks in it ends so quickly. I would've shorten the second half of the movie a bit, and made the ending a bit longer.

What happened to Emily?
17 September 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I was really surprised with this movie, in many ways. I went in expecting notting really, and got out frightened. I really couldn't sleep! The movie is very slow and as most of of you know most of the scenes take place at the court. And although i found this to be original in a horror movie, because of this i found the movie to be at times dull and uninteresting. But i forgive this due to something i will explain soon.

Now what i liked about the flick is we'll the acting, especially Jennifer Carpenter and Laura Linney. They we're just amazing. Very believable. The rest of the cast was good, but just this too stood up! Then there we're the exorcism scenes, and they we'e just scary. I haven't been scared by a movie this year, but this one? Yeah it was scary. The atmosphere it created was one more thing and there was one scene in particular that i thought to be the most intriguing visually. (*Spoilers*)It involves Emily walking outside her house and there's a lot of fog.(*End of spoilers*) I just love it, it's so intense.

What i did not like was the use of CGI, at times it took me out of the film. I hate CGI in serious horror movies! They take the seriousness out. And then there was that ending...I really think it was very unreal, i would have ended it with a more depressing end. For a movie i really had no hopes i thought it was smart, scary, and at times very intense. I suggest you to see it if you love movies as much as i do.

Renny Harlins best since Deep Blue Sea.....
17 September 2005
'Of all the Renny Harlin movies I've seen this is definitively his best since Deep Blue Sea. I can't begin to describe how much i enjoyed this movie, especially the first hour. Which i think was very interesting. The acting was very good by all of them and the character development was very well done and they we're all interesting, so that's nice . My favorite characters we're Lucar Harper(Jonny Lee Miller), Nicole Willis (Patricia Velasquez), Gabe Jensen (LL Cool J). The way it set up to some of the murders were nice, especially one involving a guy in a wheelchair. And the murders were very creative and brutal (Patricia Velasquez death was shocking). The town sets were very creepy, and it was scary imagining being stuck in a deserted island with some psycho killer. It was very stylish and i like that, but then again most of the movies I've seen of him are like that. The plot was interesting enough and kept me glued to the screen. Then the ending which was very good because it doesn't really give you away who the killer is instantly and makes everybody a suspect. Nice!

Now what i didn't like about the movie was that in some of the deaths they used a bit too much CGI if you ask me, very unnecessary. And plus most of them looked bad, thank God they we're kept secondary. I also found some of the dialogue cheesy, but that's just me. The movie although it had some things that were a bit predictable, was intriguing and entertaining enough to hold my attention. It had many plot twists and it was very unpredictable to know who the killer was(for me at least), because everyone is a suspect. It had many intense scenes, intriguing plot, nice characters, cool deaths.

A brilliant, emotional, frightening, wonderfully acted summer blockbuster! A MUST SEE!!!]
29 June 2005
Seriously the best alien-invasion movie i've seen in years! I mean come on the acting was top-notch! Tom Cruise was great and Dakota Fanning was brilliant as usual, gotta love her! After all the crap that has come to theaters this year (except Land of the Dead and House of Wax) for me at least. And as well as the rest of the cast....great! And once the action started it just wouldn't stop! Most of the movie i was at the edge of my seat, a tension i really don't get from movies, not even horror ones lol. The first time the aliens attack that scene was just spectacular! And although the movie was similar to Independence Day, this movie was ten times better. I was even moved by some scenes, and i gotta say i really liked the realistic tone Spielberg gave the movie. The special effects didn't bother me this time too much and i usually hate them! They just (most of the time) looked so real and the rest of the movie was backed up by so good acting and a lot of action and frightening moments that i didn't really care. The aliens were extremely creepy too, well lets face it I've always been scared of alien things...they freak me out! This was an intense, moving, scary alien movie. The best that has come to theaters so far (for me at least).

Octane (2003)

Octane still was a fun, strange, confusing, disturbing......
14 June 2005
I thought this movie was good, but maybe a little too confusing and strange. Still i actually enjoyed it with all the flaws. The movie had an interesting story but it isn't used that much. It was a movie full of symbolism and most people complain about how it doesn't make sense and all but still i made sense of most things, the important things. The acting for one was very good and Madeleine Stowe did a hell of a good job with her role, she was very credible and may i say she was a great choice. Norman Reedus was OK but he didn't had much of a part in this movie. Mischa Barton was good as the rebellious daughter. And for last Jonathan Rhys-Meyers was really scary and gave the character more intenseness.

What i like most about this movie was that it was so stylish, and it looked great, especially in the scene where Jonathan Rhys-Meyers and Mischa Barton are in the car with the wind blowing their hair. And i think the music help the movie a lot too. It gave it more emotion and gave the erotic scenes more sexiness. The ending felt unnecessary though, i mean i think we have seen it a lot of times in movies. I mean the movie in some part felt damaged the movie a little for me because you see all of the movie it played really strangely and at the end it basically was really predictable.

Octane still was a fun, strange, confusing, disturbing in some scenes horror/thriller movie and it had some scenes that had me at the edge of my seat.

Very fun low-budget horror movie!
13 June 2005
Warning: Spoilers
We'll this movie sure wasn't bad but it sure wasn't very good either. It's a movie with many flaws but at the end is still a pleasant experience. It is very low-budget and from the art-cover you can see that. The acting wasn't that bad but the main actress, she was so awful, she had no emotion in every line she spit or in her reactions (Gosh i was hoping for someone to kill her!). The rest of the cast was OK, nothing great. The character development was very good, although i didn't really care about anyone except Tom the teacher and a cutie he is, because they were all so hateful, but still they develop the characters very well especially the main one.

The shots were nothing new and sometimes they felt very cheap. Although the storyline it's very interesting and intriguing and it was develop very well. There's also a plot twist in it (if you can call it that) that was so predictable, i knew it since the movie started. But still it was cool. The werewolf design/clothes was bad though, looked like a cheap halloween costume. The death scenes were very original and gory, also they look very good considering that this was a very low-budget movie. The ending was awful though, it was so stupid.

All and all this movie was still a fun and definitively one of the best direct to video movies i've seen in a while. Check it out, especially if you like horror movies.

28 Days Later (2002)
10/10
"That was longer than a heartbeat." - Jim
12 June 2005
Warning: Spoilers
28 Days Later for me is the best zombie movie I've seen in a while (For me it was better than Dawn of the dead remake, Shaun of the dead, Resident evil 1 and 2). I mean the movie had this sense of desperation, and this realistic look that gave me the chills. I haven't seen a zombie movie that scared me this much, although it wasn't much of a zombie movie. It was more of a drama about this 4 people trying to survive in a world gone more mad than it is. Anyone expecting a Resident evil will be completely disappointed with this one. The script was excellent and i must congratulate the writers. The acting was very strong and i think they all did a hell of a good job, they were totally credible. The characters were very well develop and by the end of the movie you care about them which gives the movie more intensity. My favorite characters being Jim, Selena and Hannah...they were all very complex. The story well it wasn't that original really but as i said before it was played more differently than the usual zombie flick. The music/score was fantastic, it was very moody and definitively not usual for this type of movie. Great job! The suspense sequences were very intense especially the tunnel sequence still has me on the edge of my seat. For gore fans well this movie has plenty of gore and some really disturbing scenes (the eye popping scene....DISTURBING!) The great cinematography added more feel to the movie and the shots of London desolated were brilliant! The shots also were very creative and very beautiful indeed. And last but not least the ending, most people had a problem with it but i know i didn't i mean i think it was necessary in order for the movie's message to hit. Easily the best, scariest horror movie of 2003, well for me at least. (*My point of view of the movie was that every bad situation has a way out, and you should never give up.*)

Gossip (I) (2000)
9/10
Intriguing, well acted and fun but sometimes unbelievable
12 June 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Plot: 3 friends spread a rumor about a girl saying that she had sex during a party. The rumor takes a twist when people start changing it by saying that she was raped. Everything gets downhill and now the 3 friends don't know what to do. Should they confess? I cannot believe how many people dislike this movie, i thought it was very interesting and original in some aspects. First the acting....It was great! I mean everybody did a very good job at it. The characters were engaging and you're never quite sure about their intentions, which makes them even more interesting! The casting was excellent and everyone fit in their roles. The plot was very original and it was so full of twists i never see coming.

It was very stylish too the use of colors, camera angles they were all used great, very good looking. Also it hit hard with its message about what a rumor can do. The story not always hold on because it felt unrealistic and exaggerated. The music/score was good and it added intensity to the movie. I truly recommend this movie to anyone looking for a more original and intriguing than the usual teen movie, i would say its very fun too.

Gory, funny and very fun to watch!
12 June 2005
Warning: Spoilers
By far the best of Chucky's sequels since the sequel. It was very fun and i really enjoyed it. The movie is ridiculous and it knows it and thats exactly what made Seed of Chucky good for me. From the stupid jokes that had me rolling in my seat till the gore (that decapitation scene being the best for me at least). Jennifer Tilly was excellent as herself i adored her performance! Redman was very good but he isn't in the movie that much. Chucky was great! He had some very funny lines and Tiffany may i say had the best lines in the movie(I couldn't stop laughing in the "im going to have a slip" scene)she made me laugh a lot! and Glen/Glenda or whatever was very funny too (all about that scene where he dresses as Tiffany, i almost had a heart attack!). I love every joke in it (my favorites being the Martha Stewart being executed, till the Britney Spears one). I loved the homages of Psycho and The shinning. It was all very funny! I didn't like that the movie basically loses the scare factor and doesn't even try to make some suspense or scare you and the ending was really awful, it felt rushed to me. Anyways this isn't a movie that you should really take seriously because you will definitively hate it, just go in expecting lots of funny and gory scenes.

Just.....AWFUL!
12 June 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I must admit i only watched the movie because of Paris Hilton and didn't knew one thing about the movie not even one thing, well only that Paris was in it. And God! This movie was awful on all levels, it didn't had just one good thing about it (except well, it has some very good looking guys). The acting was awful from almost everybody (except maybe one or two) and Paris acting here was awful, so....hollow! She was better in House of wax. The movie basically didn't have any storyline and sometimes it went nowhere. The cinematography was very poor and the camera shot were very cheap. The script was so bad, and very repetitive. It had tons of scenes with the guys partying, killing people, fighting but didn't lead anywhere. The ending came out of nowhere and it was too abrupt. You didn't really care about these characters (i know i didn't). The music/score well did it have any? because i surely don't remember. All in all the movie tried too hard to be good but the horrible acting, no storyline, stupid scenes, unlikable characters, and terrible directing made it worse! Its not even a bit fun. I give it a 1 only because i thought the guys were hot and i know this may sound superficial but it was the only good thing i could found about it.

Horror (2003)
8/10
Its disturbing, creepy, imaginative, and may i say original....You have to see Horror!
12 June 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Most people on this board seem to have hated this movie and i really don't know why. I mean let me start off by saying that i really like the movie and that Dante Tomaselli is a very promising director and i cant wait to see his first movie Desecration and his upcoming ones (The Ocean and The Devils Playground). The movie is a very bizarre and although the story seems like something you have seen before, well its played very differently and you can never tell whats real and whats not. I for one still don't understand the movie, only watch it because it has some really original and creepy visuals and the atmosphere make the movie even more watchable. It tends to get boring here and there, and the story drag at times but maybe that was because i couldn't understand a thing. There's this demonic goat that i just cant get out of my head, its very scary, there's this disturbing scene where a doll melts and for some reason freaks me out. The movie is more like a paint, where everything its kept symbolically and not just thrown in your face. And okay so maybe the acting wasn't as good as i hoped for but it wasn't as awful as i could have been. The music was very good and it gave me the creeps at times, it fit the movie so well! Some effects looked very cheap but they didn't bother me that much, although it may bother some people. So if you're looking for a different type of film, one that doesn't come too often into theaters, and that its disturbing, creepy, imaginative, and may i say original....well see Horror

Ginger Snaps (2000)
9/10
Original, smart and very entertaining horror/werewolf flick
2 June 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Ginger snaps was for me the best werewolf flick I've seen in a while. I mean it was very different than most werewolf horror movies, it wasn't just smart and original but it was also very entertaining, I didn't got bored once. The performances were very good, the two girls were very believable as well as everybody else that worked in this movie. I love the story and the relationship of the girls was simply very well done, you got into the world of this 2 girls. The characters were very well develop and you cared for this girls and relate to them in some way (i relate more to Bridgitte). There were some really funny moments as well as gory ones. The monster design was really cool, it wasn't really scary but i liked it. The atmosphere is one of the things i really like a lot, i mean you cant go wrong with a movie set in the winter. The credits scene at the beginning was one of the things of the movie i found more original, i mean its not everyday that the credits are very entertaining. In here they were just so sick and you could truly see that this girls were just nuts lol, i mean who could be obsessed with death? or suicide. The ending felt too long though and felt that it was unnecessary, it was just a typical chase scene, it was fun still. But overall i really did enjoy this movie a lot! Its one of my favorite horror/werewolf movies I've seen in a while, and i really don't like werewolf movies that much.

High Tension (2003)
10/10
A very good slasher flick! Especially for slasher fans
1 June 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Well to me this movie wasn't really as gory as many people claim it to be, the only thing i found gory was a chainsaw near the end. But overall it was a really great movie and many people on here are saying that the plot twist was a big letdown and all but i gotta say i didn't really mind about it. It felt unnecessary but like i said i didn't mind at all. I mean the acting for start was very good i mean Cecile DeFrance did a very amazing job at playing Marie! She ruled the movie. Maiween was very good too, she was so real, i could almost feel her pain in the movie. I gotta admit that i did knew the plot twist before seeing the movie because i accidentally went into a post and it said it(my bad) lol. But if i haven't heard about it i wouldn't have known. The cinematography was very stylish and i love every shot of it, they were just so beautiful. The suspense well had me on the edge of my seat haha, all about that chainsaw bit. And although i didn't found the gore too over the top as many people said, it was still more brutal than recent slasher flicks like Texas chainsaw massacre remake, wrong turn, house of 1000 corpses. (spoilers) I gotta say this, my favorite scene was the chase scene at the end, where Marie chases Alex with the chainsaw(end of spoiler) loved it! The score was fantastic!!! they were so haunting and made the movie that more moody. If you're looking for some bloody fun, good scares, intense sequences, brilliant score, good acting and a simple storyline this is for you i really liked it a lot. And even though i did not like the plot twist still I'm giving this a 10

The Ring Two (2005)
5/10
The biggest letdown of the year
30 May 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Well this has got to be the biggest letdown I've seen so far! When i saw the trailer i must admit i was really into it, knowing that it woudn't be as good as the first one(which i really like) but hoping it will at least be a good movie. The trailer looked freaky, intense and it looked really good but i guess most trailers look good and end up being better than the movie. What i liked about the movie was well Naomi Watts. She was great as usual and i love her! The kid who plays Aidan was very good too, very creepy. The rest of the cast gave very good performances too, but it was very underused and some were not even explored and were left out. Some visuals were freaky but didn't worked as much as they should have. Although they were still great looking. It had some really fun scenes, well actually i liked 3 scenes from the whole movie (Spoilers) Like the reindeer attack, the bathtub scene and the ending. Still i cant believe the director of the original made this movie. Now what i didn't like was that is was so predictable and i just coudnt stand it here. I expected more so much more. The plot of the original was dropped out which made for a less interesting story, and it was boring. It had a few plot holes and well another problem for me was that it centers too much on the 2 main characters and its like it doesn't care about anything else other than them. The atmosphere was absent totally. It wasn't scary, it didn't get under my skin like the first one and had too many boo-scares for this type of movie. Lets face it the first didn't really needed them that much.

Boogeyman (2005)
3/10
Boring, un-scary and cheap...Thats what Boogeyman is!
30 May 2005
In my opinion well i think it was a really bad movie. It tried so hard to scare you and i sware i didn't even jump once! It was stupid but i mean i don't mind stupid, i just mind it when the movie is boring. The movie had many scene that it didn't need and were just there for the sake of being there. It doesn't really have any plot, just a lot of BOO-SCARES. It was very predictable and unoriginal, it was pointless. Another complaint is that it had way too many plot holes and by the end i was more confused than scared. The acting was the only thing i liked about this movie, Barry Watson did a very good job here and he kept me watching it the whole way. He made the movie a little more pleasant with his performance. The ending was just too long, i kept waiting for it to end, i mean i prayed for it to end! And i usually don't mind CGI in horror movie but here it was unnecessary and cheap, and drop the scare factor even more! Overall i did enjoy 1 or 2 scenes, the acting, and some visuals. Too bad that the movie wasn't good as i hoped it would be.

House of Wax (2005)
6/10
Intense, gory and fun scary ride....I loved it!
30 May 2005
(Might contain some spoilers) Well what can i say about this movie....I LOVED IT, i loved every second of it. When i first saw the trailer i knew i would liked it, but i ended up loving it. First of all let me start by saying that i liked the cast a lot, which made me sympathize for the characters even more than it should have. My favorites were Carla, Nick, Wade and Paige. The sets were amazing as usual, Dark Castle always make great sets. The house of wax was really very creepy as well as the whole town. The killer was scary, he really freaked me out. The chase scenes were very intense and i gotta say i loved Paris Hilton chase scene. It is one of my favorites next to Tara Reids(Urban Legend), Sarah Michelle Gellar(I know what you did last summer), Maiween(Haute tension) and a few more. The deaths were simply disturbing, and i gotta say i found this movie to be more cruel and sick than many slasher movies out there. This movie had its flaws true, it was predictable most of the time (you obviously knew who was gonna die from the start). But if you go into the movie expecting and Oscar winner well you will be very disappointed. Its mainly for slasher/horror fans, or those looking for some cheap scares, gory deaths scenes, intense chases well you will surely like it a lot. I sure did! I give this a 10 out of 10. Definitively the best scary movie so far on 2005. To me it was better than The ring two, boogeyman, darkness, hide and seek and well although i did enjoy Amityville horror i gotta say House of wax is better than that. (Note: I've always had a thing for Dark castles remakes, i like them all except for Gothika).

Highwaymen (2004)
7/10
Hey it was pretty good, didn't get the distribution it deserved
27 March 2004
To me this movie was very good and fun. Many people are saying that this movie was bad, but judging by the trailer will you go see this movie expecting an Oscar winner? HELL NO! You just go see it just for fun. By watching the trailer you know what to expect, thrills, gore, chases, the fun stuff! The chase/action sequences were really intense and fun to watch. It was very well shot and some of the slow motion shots looked very nice. The acting was pretty good from all of the characters and made them a bit liakable but still i didn't cared who died and the characters were way more dumb than most movies. One of the main problem with this movie is that it was really short, and it could have had some character development, the scenes with the characters talking felt too rushed. The score was notting to be amazed by, it was too well normal. Some of the deaths were violent but notting too over the top. Still i enjoyed this movie very much, it was exactly what i expected a fun thrilling ride. Could have been better of course but what the heck. Go see it if you wanna have some fun with it, just don't take it seriously like most people on this board. (Forgive me if i wrote something wrong, since my first language is Spanish well i sometimes forget how to write some words).
