Bruised (2020)
Do not drink alcohol...
...while watching this film. You will embarrass yourself with tears of joy, emotion, and absolute love for Halle Berry. I respect her for making THIS kind of movie, for portraying this character, and she did it with amazing talent and what looked like heart felt intentions.
I am a SciFi blow 'em up explosions action hero adventure kinda guy, but this film got to me. She portrayed the tortured and angry stepped on woman who has a heart of steel and love perfectly.
Cosmic Sin (2021)
Better than the reviews
This film is.not quite an A, more like a B+, and worth aty least one watch. Nothing about this scifi is "bad", it is just never GREAT.
Bruce looks tired and bored, but perhaps that is his character. Within the first 20 minutes of the movie, I had him pegged as some kind of highly functional sociopath, then he seems just sad.
Effects are just decent, acting is acceptable, storyline has empty spaces in it, the science is almost believable (most scifi's science is stupid), but it is worth a watch.
The Bureau of Magical Things (2018)
Pre-Adolescent
For fantasy-minded pre-adolescents who have little education in reality, who also have never had a difficult day in their lives, this silly G-Rated TV series is absolutely great. I am quite serious with the up vote, just know it is for kids.
Debris (2021)
1st 7 episodes, and I have questions I want answers to
The acting is good, the directing is good, the story line has some holes but looking forward to those filled.
A possible interdimensional space ship explodes littering debrix around our globe affecting humans in different ways. There is some science, plenty of human drama, and international intrigue abounds. It is a different look at the effects this kind of technology can affect the human psyche. Loving it sop far.
The Nevers (2021)
Watching the 1st episode now and...
I wish for everyone here to ignore the 1s and other low ratings and descriptions that defy logic as to just what show they were watching. I am not into but the first third of epi 1 and I am thrilled at what I see.
Steam punk-ish, quirky, humorous, exciting, witty, well performed and directed, and the beginning of unexplained stories I absolutely intend to continue watching to discover.
Watch the episode and decide for yourself if you enjoy this kind of entertainment. I DO!
Outside the Wire (2021)
Well Worth A Watch
Good acting, good directing, good action, and a barely decent script, make this film worth one watch. There are a few holes here and there, military vets will cringe from time to time, and you will not wish to watch it a second time. It is still worth the time to view it.
The film's anti drone, anti AI, and sometimes anti American (it seems to blame the US for everything IMHO) is not screamed in the viewer's face, but it is noticeably there.
Watch it and enjoy the action and the message given in the end, ignoring what you need to.
Vagrant Queen (2020)
A series only a sci-fi fanatic could ...... tolerate.
Yeah. A few minutes in and I had to acquire an alcoholic beverage to finish it. So-so to bad acting, cheesy lines, bad jokes, plot holes bigger than a planet.
BUT! LISTEN! That is what it is SUPPOSED to be! Do not click watch to see epic sci-fi. Click watch to see beings just trying to make a living in a verse, click to see salvage operations, space ships that need repair, bars full of bar flies of all kinds, and in spite of all the cheesiness, an almost realistic grit and desperation you see in real life. I gave it a 6 because it will do, for this viewer who is addicted to all things space, until other shows come along. After the alcohol hit, it got more tolerable, even enjoyable, AS LONG AS I REALIZED WHAT TO EXPECT.
It made as much sense as Space Balls, so there's that.
Tomb Raider (2018)
THIS is Sequel Worthy!
Let me begin by saying one cannot compare this to Jolie's Tomb Raider. These two Lara Crofts live in two separate universes.
Having said that, I would rather be in THIS Lara Croft's universe hands down. The acting is better, the impossible stunts are done in such a way as to be believable (compared to Jolie's), and Alicia Vikander portrays a character that is an actual human, unlike Jolie's who seems to be flawless.
I heartily suggest you ignore the bad reviews and watch this offering. The plot, the movement of events, what keeps you watching, is not just because of one character played by one star, although Alicia Vikander held my attention easily. One is also made to guess what the treasure sought after has in store when found, and makes one yearn for the next installment.
Watch the film and you may do just what I am doing now, which is review it even though you have never reviewed a movie before.
