Deliverance (1972)
Not as good as I remembered it.
This is one of those classic movies from when I was younger that I remembered as very thrilling, well-acted and with with some disturbing scenes. The banjo scene is still a masterpiece. This movie has always popped-up in my mind when I've been out hiking and such things, kind of like the movie Jaws always pops up in people's heads when they're out on the water.
I recently watched this with my 16 year old son (in 2022), after having hyped it from what I remembered it to be. The first half of the movie is still entertaining with some classic scenes, but I remembered it to be much more. Not very much actually happened after the first half, so it felt quite slow to be honest.
My son mentioned "this could have been done as a Youtube video today" referring to the production quality back in the days. It is still a good story, but not at all as exciting as I remembered it. I believe we are so used to long well-produced streaming series today that these old movies really can't compete with what's being produced today.
Feed (2022)
To be honest, a pretty great swedish horror movie.
I'm 44 and I went to see this with my two teenagers and their friend. They loved it it, thought it was really scary and the fact that everyone speaks swedish makes it even a bit scarier.
The story is about a group of Youtubers and their friends going glamping together in the swedish nature for a weekend. They've rented a place on a small island in a beautiful lake, a lake where there have been scary rumors of an old woman who died there hundreds of years ago. The rumors say she still lives there and of course none of the teenagers believe in these stories, but it makes it fun to joke about.
Some pretty good acting from the main characters and overall a good scary movie. My rating is, as a movie maybe a 5/10, but as a scary movie 7/10.
Shorta (2020)
Starting off intense, but quickly slows down..
Feeling a but misled by the trailer that shows a very intense police hunt in a danish suburb. The movie also starts off like this, but the intensity quickly slows down and there is a lot of waiting, slow talking and the police officers just hiding from the riot. Great acting from the two police officers though and the directing and everything felt top notch.
Overall a pretty good police drama, with moments of action. We were two couples watching it together at home and fifty percent of us were sleeping half way in the movie.
Long Shot (2019)
Very funny for me and my wife
Just watched this movie with my wife, a chill saturday evening at home.. I read some reviews here before, both high and some very low ratings. Can only say that we laughed out loud many times and we enjoyed this movie a lot. The romance and chemistry between Seth and Charlize worked really well. Great romantic comedy!
