Hunting Grounds (2008)
Excellent look at the Future and Immense Potential of Independent Film-making
First, I wanted to say that I really liked Hunting Grouds a lot. I had been reading in the reviews how people kept saying that the film had an original and truly unique look, and now that I have seen it I would have to agree. I know it was made on a low budget, but it has a great professional look. The details are super crisp and the color is fantastic. I love the blending of the real life, the models, and CGI effects, it all comes together for a very stylized effect.
Aside from the zombies, the story reminded me a lot of the classic movie, "On Dangerous Ground" with the whole notion of the hunter and the hunted. I think the main character Patrice LeBlanc does a fantastic job in the film. He has a great look to him that I think would help make the sequels a great success. I am not sure why, but I kept getting this cool Jean- Claude Van Damme / Dolph Lundgren vibe from him... Maybe its from watching Universal Soldier to many times as a kid, but I definitely think its a good thing.
I can't wait to see what this group does next with their film-making, and I wish them the best of luck.
