Kid Cannabis (2014)
it says it is based on a true story...
Based on a true story? The whole story lacks of realism.
The story starts with getting a low amount of startup money from a wrecked boat which is pulled out of the sea and is sold to a guy. Some kingpin moneymaker gives a huge amount of money in advance and threatens the family of the guy who is a nerd type in case he rips him off.
Nobody would give 600k money and all the leverage is a fat guy, his younger brother and his mother.
He succeeds to make millions and has no protection. Another dude hires 2 killers but he himself has no protection at all...
After everything gets even more worse all the companions testify against the leader and are charged a maximum of 20 months. That is the most unrealistic part of the story.
I expected a funny but cruel story comparable to Project X... I cannot recommend this movie.
Yip Man: Jung gik yat zin (2013)
fantasy eastern
This is just another a fantasy eastern movie. It is very disappointing and even if you give it a try, you will end up with a crappy cheap movie which is pure fiction and uses grandmaster yip man's name and disgraces him. The fighting scenes and the main story reminds of a soap. The techniques are not really WT. WT fights are not supposed to take more time as really needed. Most of the attacks are deadly and so if you don't wear some protecting gear, you will be dead within a minute or severely injured and need medical assistance. Beside that, you cannot see any martial art techniques in this movie which are in any way interesting. The actors have barely skills and that does not include WT in any way. One of the most important technique called 'chain punch' is just not available in this movie. The other Ip Man movies released before include that and are far beyond competition with this movie.
Continuum (2012)
for those complaining...there's an important thing you should keep in mind probably...
Some people just forget that the show is basically intentioned for entertainment. It's more or less a crime story with elements of a super hero (the futuristic gadgets and the real-time information which are very helpful making the protagonist very special).
My advice for all the people who are complaining about many things including the good and the bad and all the ethically and political stuff is:
just wait 65 years (the present is in the year 2077) and look how it will be and then you can start getting upset and complain...
Otherwise just enjoy the great show.
The Hunger Games (2012)
please don't tell anyone i watched the movie...
I was very excited about the movie hearing it is so great and in the first week millions of dollars were paid from the audience because it's such a great movie.
I went to a theater with a buddy and it was a shock. From the beginning till the end the movie was very unsatisfying.
Some examples:
Why didn't she shoot a guy in his face instead of shooting the apple?
Why do people team up nevertheless they have to kill each other and why does every one sleep so that she could escape?
And after a few days of surviving the girl who gets shot with a bolt looks like she just came from a wellness-weekend pulling the bolt out and taking it easy and is relaxed.
Another unforgivable thing is that the controlling people just add some bad monsters to the surface... like they could create anything what they want and place it where they want. Is this a startrek-like- holodeck? Instead of bad-ass-monsters they could just materialize some food or more useful stuff...
And besides all the crap the movie even don't have some nice visuals like special effects.
Yes, it reminds me of battle royale... to be honest, that movie was great compared to 'The hunger games'.
It's not a bad adaption of the book written by Suzanne Collins...
even more worse... she ripped the mainstory from 'Battle Royale' and made a poor remake of the original story. She doesn't deserve any credits, she is not a great bookwriter, she stole the story and messed it up.
