A Great Boomer and Gen-X Finale
1 September 2023
I was in Junior high school when the first Indiana Jones film hit theaters. It was tremendous. I was in my junior year of high school when Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom hit theaters. It was fun, but not great.

As an adult, I enjoyed the pairing of the magnificent Sean Connery and Harrison Ford for the 3rd installment.

When our younger daughter was in high school, I introduced her to the entire series before I took her to see Shia LaBeouf star in the Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull installment.

For me and my wife, this film was closure on a character arc we have watched since we were 13 years old. This was a great closure to an incredible character. Will probably be more appealing to those who has aged with Indiana Jones.

You'll Believe In The Goodness Of Mankind
9 July 2023
Rotten Tomatoes got this one wrong. Way wrong. There were times in this movie when I found myself tearing up. If you've ever had a special needs person in your life, or if you've ever worked to be a part of something bigger than yourself that doesn't include big money; this movie might just hit you in your heart.

Woody Harrelson is so real in this role. He's so human, so humble. His heart is bigger than his opportunity. He's damaged. The kids are damaged. They find a common goal and a bond through that hope and belief that they just might be able to make it all the way.

This is a feel good movie. We need more of these.

Way Better than these hateful ratings
28 May 2023
I need to confess, I've been an Arnold fan since Pumping Iron back in the late 70's. My wife and I went to all his action flicks when we were dating and first married. It was tough to not have him during his hiatus when he was governor and then trying to start back up.

This movie reminds me of True Lies, minus Jamie Lee Curtis. It is not something that we will see during the Academy Awards. It was still a lot of fun and well worth the 8 hour investment. There's common story lines and predictable characters. It's still one heck of a lot of fun. Especially for a Netflix film. I hope they do a season 2.

Way better than the hater reviews

I was enlisted in the Marine Corps back in the 80's. Most of us always had the upmost respect for Navy Seals and Airborne Rangers. If you are prior military, I think you will enjoy the way this movie mixes in the military action with the story. The premise of the film is around firmer Nazi gold that was lost when a damn blew during WW2 and submerged a small town. No spoilers here.

These guys use military training and skills to try and devise a plan.

I really enjoyed this flick as I appreciate a fictional story that mingles in historical facts to create a narrative. The US Navy Seals are tougher than any other out there and this is a somewhat fun, but serious, adventure.

Way Better than most Reviews
27 March 2023
This is not an adventure story. Not an Action film. It's about someone put in a long continuous struggle who goes through a tremendous amount of self reconciliation. If you watch and pay attention, you will appreciate the story of life. Anyone who grew up in a broken home that did the best that could ever be expected can relate in some way. Self isolation as a defense mechanism plays a role here. The will to live is as much a factor as the environmental challenges. A lot of reviews call out too many flashbacks. They are missing the point of the entire film. I recommend giving this mini series a chance. It's only 6 episodes and an easy watch.

People Familiar With, But Not Bound By, Rural Parts of Texas Will Love This
4 February 2023
This movie was really amusing to me and, I imagine, people who have a similar background.

I grew up in Suburban Texas, just outside of the major city of Dallas. Most all of our extended family lived another 20 miles out in rural towns. I loved visiting them, learning a different way of life, and the tribal isms that help build stereotypes of Texans and the South in general. Even as an adult, when I return from a trip visiting my extended family, my coworkers say I sound like my Texas accent got a boost.

I love Novak's take on coming into a culture that's similar but foreign. The little things that are universal across all Texas, and the things that are unique to small rural towns.

I don't want to give up anything in the review other than to say give it a chance and if you don't like it, bless your heart.

Nice to watch
11 December 2022
There is a rare Canadian drama we will watch. This is one of them. Alfred Molina reminds me of Columbo. He has a non-assuming personality that simply follows evidence while being a caring person to everyone, even suspects, during the process. New evidence that turns the investigations in another direction is taken in stride. The show pulls you into relationships. Makes you vested in the characters.

The town is like those old towns that sit just a little too far outside of big cities. Small, quaint, probably full of BnB's.

There is a real closeness among the detective team members and an interesting camaraderie with the local cops.

This show is done well. Worth the watch.

Great Coming of Age Film
5 November 2022
So many movies these days are about super heroes or apocalyptic times. This was a feel bad, feel good movie. Struggles that are real. The awkward stage where you didn't like yourself but there was someone awesome to remind you of who you are. Sam Rockwell was incredible in this film. The loveable loser you can't help but root for. There wasn't a bad actor in this film. Even the kid with a side eye was totally believable. I had a hard time figuring out what year this is set in. It could be now, or maybe the 90's. Watch until the very end. It's hard to count the feel good moments in this film. And maybe after watching it, you'll feel a little better, even if just for a little while.

Way Better than Reviews
18 September 2022
This was a fun flick. I've never played the video game so I have nothing to compare to. I also had low expectations watching this and was pleasantly surprised. Even though this movie is predictable, it's worth watching. I saw it for free so wasn't trying to get my money's worth. Is it a little campy? Yes, on purpose. The main actor doesn't have a bunch of lines but this is an action movie so not too much to say. The added comic relief character actually was kind of funny. If don't take this film seriously and just enjoy the ride, it's worth your time to kick back and enjoy an 80's style cookbook action film.

Disturbing
3 September 2022
This movie was twisted. Hard to watch and hard to stop watching. Without revealing any spoilers; this film visits some disturbing life potentials that most of us aren't exposed to but , unfortunately, we have known people who are. The dynamics across father, son, siblings....in a whacked out environment. Not really a horror film. More of a psychological thriller / drama.

Don't Really know how I feel after watching this. I think it's better than average. But, this is a strange flick. If you decide to watch it, allow yourself extra time to watch something else afterwards as I don't think you want to go to sleep thinking about this one. It's just weird.

Incredible Movie Making
30 August 2022
I remember watching the first film back when it first came out in theaters. I wondered how any film could ever compare to the original. This work of art answers everyone's question to that. Tom Cruise and the rest of the team that brought this thing together are to be commended. Heart pounding action. Incredible flight scenes. A great script to finish out the story. I especially liked that they brought back Val Kilmer for continuity on the story line. Tom Cruise is truly a movie making genius. Watch it in the theater or on as big a screen with the best speakers possible. You won't be disappointed.

Don't take it Serious and you'll enjoy it

The film is fun, and full of absurdity. Not as intentionally goofy as SpaceBalks but not quite an Independence Day. Approach it as a good time and you just might enjoy it.

Fun Flick. Give it a Watch
5 May 2022
These kids are so true to teenage wants, dreams, and parent apathy. Some really enjoyable parts to this and the whole movie moves along well. You expect a few things that happen but that's OK. It's fun.

Better than Reviews. Feel Good Adventure

This movie is a lot of fun. I didn't feel like Tom Holland was Peter Parker. This guy guy can act. Mark Wahlberg was flawless. An unpredictable combination of talents. Give this movie a chance and you will be begging for a sequel.

A True Hero. Everyone Should Know His Story
6 February 2022
This is an excellent telling of a great true story. Andrew Garfield, Hugo Weaving, Teresa Palmer, and the rest of the cast turn in performances that cause you to forget about the incredible actors they are and find yourself lost in the story.

Like History of Violence on steroids. This guy just wants to live his life. They should have let him. Fun flick and I like how they brought in some of the older actors who definitely pull their own weight.

An Incredible Limited Series
14 October 2020
This series is both supernatural and educational. There is an education my family needed to see within the entertainment. This country we love has some horrific acts in our history that are played out here while being intertwined with great story telling.

Way Better Than We Expected
7 September 2020
We finally watched this movie on Disney Plus. I had avoided it because I thought it was an attempt to take away what Robin Williams did. It was not. The take was original and slightly different than the animated version. Definitely a Disney film with the songs you remember. Will Smith did an absolutely excellent job. Truly believable. An excellent cast of actors. Give it a chance.

Take SWAT and multiply the action by 5. Add in the reality of warfare offset by the very real people around the team members and you've got a great show.

Love this flick. The wife and I are over 40 and maybe there's an age group that likes this movie more than others. We watched this with another couple over and laughed several times throughout the movie.

Absolutely love this movie. Back when it first came out, I was so freaked out that I nearly punched my wife when I woke up and saw a shadow. She was just coming back from the bathroom and trying to be quiet.

This is a great flick. Way beyond any made for TV film. Charlize is one heck of an actress. Aeon Flux meets Highlander. Would love to see a sequel. The people giving this film a 1 or a 2 have an agenda. Ignore it and enjoy the flick.
