Iwájú (2024)
I wanted to love this so much
The animation is gorgeous. Tola and Kole are amazing characters... but after finishing the series it felt ... incomplete and unfulfilled. The story felt rushed and concluded too easily. 6 15-minute episodes were not enough. I want to know how Oja went from a petty thief as a child to who he is now. I also want to see more of Tola's father other than one single flash back. This series could be so amazing but it looks like a one season and done limited series which I think is a failing on Disney's part. Also, the robotic lizard was such a backgrounds character for so much of it, then in the last episode is finally a forefront character? No. Nope. I love many things about the limited series but I dislike so much more. It should be better.
Pets United (2019)
It's fun
I honestly don't get the bad reviews. It was a fun watch and my son loved it. If you had a problem with some of the "violent" themes in this movie but were ok with The Secret Lives of Pets, I question your judgment as the strays literally talked about MURDERING OWNERS in that movie and I still refuse to let my son watch that movie. This movie wasn't nearly as sinister and an enjoyable watch.
Devil's Den (2006)
Ok, it's not a cinematic masterpiece
But it's not meant to be. It's cheesy, stupid, mindless entertainment. The monster effects are not CGI and actually pretty well done. The plot is vapid. But I was looking for something tonight that would just be entertaining and this delivered. I'm rating this movie based on what it's meant to be. It doesn't take itself seriously. It is what it is and it does it pretty well. Yes, it won't be for everyone but I enjoyed it. You might too. If you go in knowing it's just mindless brain candy with a ridiculous plot. This ain't Shakespeare. It's not meant to be.
The Bleeding (2009)
Ummm... yeah
I will start this by saying I like Vinnie Jones. I also like Armand Assante. But I cannot for the life of me find one shred of anything to like in this movie. If I can call it that. It tries really hard to be Robert Rodriguez/Quentin Tarantino a la Planet Terror/Death Race, but fails. Like "F in Art" fails. The only movie (series) I kept thinking of the entire time through was the series Mental Maniacs. For anyone who has suffered through that waste of film, you will know what I'm talking about. And I have to say, I have yet refer to any movie in that capacity. That is how bad this film is. Please save yourself the brain cells, life-minutes and skip this movie. Oh, and for the person who referred to the lead as a Wal-Mart Vin Diesel, you are so dead on.
