Was guckst du?! (2001–2005)
So bad it makes me vomit
19 December 2005
OK, the first shows were kinda funny - they brought the "funny" jokes about the relations between Germans and "their" migrants. Though it was offensive against the migrants it was also offensive against Germans, in some of the jokes at least. But once the heavy bullets have been fired it became, like most of the comedy-shows, just a forum for the running gags. And those aren't funny. I've read the review of this one opponent and I must say he's all right - all the people voting against him are just members of the production crew or even worse, people who are just like he supposed the show would produce more of them, migrants themselves who feel supported by this show in being dumb, senseless and I don't know. I hope this review will pass the censorship of this site - cos I wanna tell ya all: "You all Turks who like this show, you should know my uncle who is really a turk-hater likes this show very much and so do many other German Xenophobes." - so Turks have a Merry Christmas. And a Heppy Christmas to IMDb-Crew over the ocean as well. Keep it going and let all my posts pass through. Thanks and,,, Do you know how many Turks fit into a VW? - Maybe this is a joke the host of this dumb show spared for Christmas.

An easy-watchable Kurosawa about real japanese culture and characters
31 August 2004
I've watched this movie more often then any other Kurosawa movie. I think most of his movies I've watched only once were movies whose impact on me will last a lifetime, thats why I don't need to watch 'Stray Dog' or 'Red Beard' too often, though they are my favorite. But this one is a movie I can watch on the evening, an easy-watchable and yet very touching and intensive movie, with moments to laugh and touching moments too. I realy like this movie for its sympathic characters - though it plays partly in fascism war-torn Japan. Maybe its the point of why I like these character especially - it shows that despite their fascistic affiliation the characters didn't have to be evil - or at least not all.

It has also a few good jokes which you can only understand when you understand japanese - the main character is a distinguished author and german-teacher. He delivers a brilliant character-study.

Recommendable for everybody interested in japanese culture, especially postwar - and all Kurosawa-fans of course.

Disappointing
12 June 2004
I've been looking forward to see this movie, since I'm interested in the history of Japanese occupation, korean resistance and korean history in general. But this movie gave me nothing. It is filled with scenes which are so foreseeable and they drag on for long time with many perspectives which repeat on and on while the soundtrack tries to wake some emotions. Especially the fighting scenes are annoying. Another thing is that the beginning is quite interesting - so you watch the movie because maybe it starts again to be interesting - and so you watch till the end.

A fighting scene for example: Some bad guys shoot a kid and the hero catches the kid in the moment he's hit by the bullet, so he can die in the heros arms. The scene drags on for long time, emotional soundtrack joins the scene, many perspectives are taken of the hero getting a tear - and all while the bad guys still fire at them. Finaly some minutes later (in the movie, in real it should be a moment only) the hero decides to grab a rifle and finishes the bad guys in a few seconds.

camera-work was interesting, so if you are a film-student it may be worth a look - but since I've not seen a korean movie with bad camera you might be better of viewing any other korean movie

Der letzte Kosmonaut (1994 TV Movie)
10/10
Don't mind the rating - great movie!
12 June 2004
It's an imaginative story about an hypotetic last cosmonaut on the MIR and it goes like that:

It's the year 1990: The communistic regime in the Sovietunion breaks down and enters free-market-system. Everybody in the communistic countries is aware of the changes and sees forward with hope for more luxury on one hand and fear to loose authority on the other. But not quite everybody is aware of the changes - there's one man, and he's stranded in the earths orbit, on the MIR. Dependant on the informations brought to him by the authorities on earth he stays unaware.

The authorities of the Kosmodrom (soviet launching site complex) face the new capitalistic leaders who let them know, that there's not enough money to support the MIR further on, not even to bring the last cosmonaut back.

So they make a cruel decision. Not to take the last cosmonaut home, but to save the money for the transitrocket.

A great comedy with excellent parodies on the political world of the early 90ties. Dominique Horwitz as the cosmonaut does a great play - and very amiable character.

Funny film for the simple-minded
18 May 2004
This movie is about the struggle of polish farmers who demonstrate against entering the European Union. They get support by a businessman who lost the sense of his life.

It is very striking, many funny stereotypes and it's made funny (very funny having simple-minded farmers as potential audience) and with a certain social-critical note, but in the end there is a happy end.

The overall quality is well too. Enjoyable film for the whole family if the plot sounds good to you.

Watch and admire
17 May 2004
This movie tells a story about people one admires for the way they live their lifes, even though you never would want to live their lifes yourself.

This is first such movie I've seen. When talking about "gay-films", I think one weakness of them is that the general audience has problems to find a character to identify with. Yossi&Jagger has more then those two of them! All characters play their roles so honestly that one has the feeling to hurt their private sphere. It is voyeuristic cinema par excellence. The cameraman did good work.

I've seen it a few months ago and I still have to think about it from time to time.
