Remarkable Rivers (2022)
lovely
Just when you thought you new about Britain's heritage
.this programme is "slow" but all the better for that.
Learned lot.
.
do not bother reading further.
.
need to fill .
Give it a go.
Knives Out (2019)
yep
Well I had high hopes for this ....but as my hearing is
impaired I could not access subtitles so
1/10.
As i need to contain 150 words this piffle is added.
Blankety Blank: Episode #19.1 (2021)
oh dear
Have many fond memories of this show , but withing 2 minuets had to turn off
Canned laughter to loud to long and so unnecessary
.
No Frills (1988)
Not the worst
Molly Bickerstaff has been recently widowed and has decided to give living with her daughter a try. She leaves her terrace in Oldham and moves to London, where her daughter Kate, and her granddaughter Suzy have their home. Kate is an art lecturer and a divorcee of nine years' standing - trying to bring up her 16-year-old daughter.
I found it enjoyable "fluff"
Inside the Factory: Pots and Pans (2020)
disappointed
This show is usually very good...but in this episode it bangs on, and on, and on, about how steal is the best /most recycled material and skims over that they THROW OUT glass . Glass has been reused for thousands of years . Glass 2,000 years old can still be reused.
For a show that pays , lip service, to environmental issues this was the worst.
French and Saunders: Episode #1.1 (1987)
well
Cannot believe it has been 33 years since this show premiered
not lough out loud
but not aged
still as funny as the day as it was made
enjoy two fems having a laugh
Africa's Great Civilizations (2017)
a must watch
For a lot of years I have heard a little , in drips and draps, of the story of Africa.
When I started to watch this series I thought " oh not again a white wash "..
Oh no this is a proper history , a lot I already new, but the way it was pulled together made so much sense, made the history clear and conciseness.
Slavery : The true story
Colonialism : what I did not know
Ethiopia : God bless them
for any person who likes truth ...watch this
Horizon: First Britons (2015)
Excellent
Have just seen this episode on yesterday, and although I regularly watch Horizon I cannot remember seeing this before.
A look into the history of the British Isles and how farming came a lot earlier than previously thought.
It does make me think how much of prehistory that I was taught in school is a lot of rubbish, and how much of the worlds / human history is wrong. The future cannot be set, because the past ( our foundations ) are not firm.
Detectorists: Episode #3.1 (2017)
oh lovely.
I had been very concerned when they said that serious 2 was "to be the last" but am so happy to see them back.
We are back taking a stroll down an English country lane.
This episode is full of promise, a bit of mystery, but our same Lance and Andy.
Very nice to see them back.
The End of the F***ing World (2017)
Weird
Well have just finished watching all 8 episodes. I can see the audience , young (me 60), that the producers were aiming at . However if you like your stories in the K Dick / Missfits, style then you will enjoy this. I have given it a 9 /10 rating as there were a couple of "odd" occurrences, that I will not elaborate here, for they were minor and could spoil things. Give it a go.
Electric Dreams (2017)
old
I must be very old. I have seen the first three episodes and I have loved every single one. this is what Mr dick was about. weird / strange/ and (insert own ) The acting has been great. the story telling has been great. I thought I knew Mr dicks stories.....but this has brought to me a whole new (insert) Enjoyment for the Pre-milamiums
Tripped (2015)
Sliders for the Misfits generation
After the sad demise of Misfits its good to see a new sci-fi series for adults.
How would you feel, your life is a mess, your best mate chooses someone else to be best man, then when you get home really weird #### starts to happen.
That is the slow start, but after that it is fast pace roller coaster of a ride.
Parallel universes multi you's, some good, some downright weird, is it real or are you still Tripping?.
Also there is a good, old fashioned mystery to solve.
From the first episode this looks to have a lot of legs. If the rest of the series goes on like this one we are all in for a great ride.
Time Crashers (2015)
Big Brother meets Time team
And is better than both.
Lots of celebrities made to do extraordinary challenges.
When I first saw this advertised I thought "oh no" but it works no histrionics, no "don't you know who I am" everyone ( except one) got down to the tasks in whatever period they were thrown into.
Special praise for Kirstie Alley her knowledge and 'lets get this done' attitude is a 10/10.
Historically accurate it really shows what we, the people, had to do to survive in times gone by.
Oh by the way the 'except one' if you want to know.......watch the program, its sad / surprising.
I do hope this lasts a long time.
Defcon 2012 (2010)
Do not like writing a bad review so...
Have just watched this move for a second time, forgotten what it was like.
I could see what the director was after, but only after I had read the sleeve notes and the directors notes on this page, then it made some sense. But with such a low budget he could not pull it off.
Also with no sub titles Had great difficulty following speech , always do hearing shot, however others agree the back ground music (?) is very intrusive.
Agree with the person who said that this is a slow move, but he had to fill the time some how, and then they still had to add the opening sequence to take it up to a move length.
Overall I feel that if this story had a couple of additional writers to help and a bigger budget it could be a very good movie, the basics are all there.
Still only 1/10
