Some errors
4 December 2015
There are some errors in the telling of the story of David and Bethsheba. The first is that David, here played by Gregory Peck, appears in this movie brown or black hair; however in 1 Samuel 16:12 we read: (Reina Valera Gómez) He sent them for him, and did enter; he was ruddy, with beautiful eyes and beautiful appearance. And the Lord said, Arise, anoint him; he is. Bethsheba normally take bath on a pool. It was not Urias asking King David to be sent ahead of troops, but it was King David who by a command message to put Uriah in the front of the troops in making Raba. There is no mention in the Bible where it is said that the people of Israel asked that Bethsheba was to be stoned to death. Natan the prophet admonishes personally the prophet Nathan to King David for his sin of adultery, saying that his kingdom would be divided and that he would raise opposition to his rule. the movie is sometimes tedious especially in the love scenes, where the lack of chemistry between Gregory Peck Susan Hayward is appreciated. King Vidor is excellent running. photography and costumes are gorgeous. special effects well done. the interpretation of Gregory Peck and Susan Hayward just decent. my punctuation is 6.

That glorious Johann Strauss
22 October 2013
Great movie that portrays perfectly the era of Franz Joseph I of Austria, and his revolution, although not accurately portrays the composer's biography, (Hollywood never portrays in his movies biographical their true history, altering them for economic and commercial reasons), and such is the case, nevertheless, this wonderful production of the Metro, which shine over all, erecting an actress dominant from start to finish, the great, the incomparable dramatic soprano voice Miliza Korjus, whose presence with overwhelming smile in the main figure of this unforgettable production. beside Fernand Gravey as Johann Strauss is excellent, and as his wife the unforgettable Luise Rainer of "The Good Earth" and "The Great Ziegfeld". brightly made film, and with great merit Oscar winner for best picture. in my opinion is the best musical of all time. note 10 regards

one of best noir classics
19 August 2013
I have seen this excellent movie in 1951 in Barcelona/Spain when I was 20 and I liked it then and continue to like now very much, I considered it one of the greatest noir classic movies in history. Alan Ladd is fantastic in his role as a reporter; Donna Red is beautiful and had great performance in his playback roll, as Arthur Kennedy and the rest of the cast. is a pity that original seams lost. I have a copy of a VHS from a Honolulu TV, but it can be watched pretty well. the story is very well done by writers Warren Duff and Tiffany Thayer, and the development of the history very well done by director Lewis Allen. Alan Ladd one of my preferred actors is superb and I had said all the cast specially June Havoc, beautiful and charm-ant actress. the end of the movie remains on your mind as one of best ends of a movie in Hollywood history. I highly recommend for the be-lovers of noir classics.
