Everybody Loves Raymond: High School (1997)
Debra Is Awful
One of the episodes where Debra is at her worst with how she treats Raymond. Overall it's not a very funny episode.
On Our Own (1977)
A Nice Memory
I was 12 when this show aired. I remember my whole family really enjoyed watching it every week. I was disappointed it was canceled after only one season. I would love to see it again. Some shows stick in your memory and others don't despite the length of the run of the show. I have always followed what the cast did after the series ended. I'm really glad that Lynne Greene had a successful career behind the scenes. She was a great actress especially in her appearances on Golden Girls as a young "Dorothy". I was sad to hear that Gretchen Wyler died this year of cancer. She was a brilliant actress on TV and on Broadway. Bess Armstrong is still going strong. It is a credit to the casting of On Own that the cast went on to have long careers, although, not high profile. I doubt this show will ever show up on DVD but it would be nice to see it again.
It Happened One Christmas (1977)
One of the Best Holiday Movies Ever
This reworking of "It's A Wonderful Life" is one of the best holiday movies I have ever seen. In fact, I think "It Happened One Christmas" is a superior film. I am fortunate to have an uncut copy of the movie transferred to DVD so I am able to watch it every year.
Marlo Thomas gives an Emmy-worthy performance and Cloris Leachman gives her usual spot-on performance. The whole cast is in top form. Watch for cameos from "Everybody Loves Raymond"'s mom Doris Robets and future "Spinal Tap" actor, Christopher Guest.
The movie is both funny and heartwarming. It is a must for anyone who loves a great holiday movie. Check it out and you will be glad you did. Hopefully, Universal will come to their senses and release this gem on DVD.
