The first two episodes of this show feel like you just found your old favorite, comfortable, sweater, and even though you've gained a few pounds over the years and your life has changed, it still fits as well as it ever did.
This reboot hits all the right notes so far, and the best part of it, besides the cast and writing, is that it doesn't slap on the nostalgia for the original as thick as molasses to choke you with it, much the same way the original didn't with Cheers. There will be moments, to be sure, because that's how life is with things that have come before for us, but honestly the hate I see is undeserved and most likely coming from people who want more of the same that the original provided.
But, just like life, as this art imitates here, it goes on and things change, and if you don't move with it and keep growing and learning, you drown in the past you can never get back.
Great start. I really hope it keeps it up the whole season, and that it's picked up for another.
