Roomies (2004)
Date movie for guys?
Not a lot of production value. The its full of "cute" humor. It never makes you laugh out loud, their best joke is a failed attempt at the traditional potty humor with a mild twist. The "bag design" dream is a nice angle. Lots of women's breasts. The characters were all very believable (but not the breasts). The situations were very believable, all too familiar for some. You might be reminded of people in your life from characters in the movie. If you like date movies, it's in the better half. Not a lot of talk about feelings, just images of repetitive familiar situations for young couples. It really all depends on how you like the ending. It's almost a date movie for guys.
DreamKeeper (2003)
A young man and his grandfather journey into the past, to prepare for the future.
The story was very well written and entertaining. The tales from many nations were told, and were the focus of the movie. A perfect family movie that keeps everyone entertained. The messages behind the stories have deep social significance and seem chosen with care. The next best thing to hearing these stories yourself from the dreamkeeper would be to see this movie. The first 10 minutes of the movie seems awkward, but the story gets better. The acting varies from competent to fantastic, but some just seem out of place and stiff. The cinematography is very good and there's many breathtaking aerial sweeps. There were two camera passes right through vehicles from headlight to tailpipe that seemed quite out of place. The Coyote and spider characters enthralled the kids.
Hostage Negotiator (2001)
A married FBI couple has a falling out, with two kids caught in the middle.
What starts out as a career problem, turns into a nightmare, as the plot centers on and Ex FBI Agent and his wounded pride at his wife's success with the same organization as a hostage crisis negotiator. His jealousy is only tempered by his love and care for his children. Eventually things end up in the predictable scenario of her having to negotiate for her own children from her husband. While the plot unfolds predictably, the acting is believable and the end scenario holds a surprise. Good production values save this movie from obscurity. The writer gave no thought to the children as anything more than the prize objects. Not worth watching more than once. Just too predictable and lacking any interesting subplots.
