Little Monsters (1989)
Great movie.
I don't remember when I first watched this movie, maybe around 6th grade, but I loved it. LOVED it. I still do. I do agree that Frank Whaley didn't get much of a part. I LOVED Boy, even if only for 3 minutes or so. I actually found Boy quite attractive, and his sinister and evil attitude really made me wanna watch the scene over and over again. Muhuhahahahahaha!!!! So sexy....but once he rips his face off it makes me sad. But that scene was wonderfully shot...oh, the view from the back of his head, the skin on his hands, the music, and the whole dark and strange feel during the scene...BEAUTIFUL!!! My favorite out of the entire movie. But beyond that is entertaining too. Fred Savage is an actor I liked from The Wonder Years, a very talented one. Maurice was fun. Funny thing is, I forgot all about that number in the beginning of the movie...no wonder my mom seemed to have a bit of a negative attitude when asked if I could try calling it. The whole movie is very good, except for around the ending when Maurice and Brian are saying their goodbyes. I know in real life a goodbye might last that long, especially if you might not see someone again, but still...the scene seemed a little long winded, but it's easy to ignore. I think this is an original movie. I agree some things in it might not be all-too-suitable for kids, but 6th graders will probably have no problem with it. Kids in the later years of elementary school are more advanced than you think. I certainly know everyone was saying the F-word and cussing the crap out of everything when I was in 6th grade...no problem for me there. As for Fred Savage's little bro being shackled to a dart board...that may be a bit more of a controversial subject...but once again, I was fine with it. I was more focused on Boy. >:) Okay, okay. Anywho, HAVE FUN with this movie. Be not judgmental but open-minded. If the tone is not your thing, no prob, but if you don't like this movie because you're a negative person bent on picking out every God forsaken detail that slightly annoys you, I will hunt you down...do you read me? HUNT YOU DOWN. That last remark is not to be taken seriously, but please, try following my logic, alright?
Mad Mad House (2004)
Great show, well chosen cast.
I enjoyed every episode of Mad Mad House. It was the only reality show I ever was interested in. I am glad I watched it because I learned about Avocado, the raw food nutritionalist. He helped me discover walnut burgers...mmmm....My friend and I had a raw food night where we made walnut burgers and a bunch of other stuff we found from recipes off of Shazzie.com. I'm thinking of buying Avocado's book "Eating for beauty." I want to learn how to have a healthy lifestyle by using some of his techniques. He, to me, seemed very cool and smart. I especially liked Art too, because he is so spiritual, loves life, and avoids anger. He's an inspiration. I do believe everything on this show is real. The alts certainly are because if you do a background check on them all you'll find they've made books and have personal sites and a hell of a lot of background information. The only trouble with the show I had was Kelly. I hated her SO much...it nearly made me sick because she's an actual person...that girl has mental problems. I hope she realizes this and can take care of herself before she hurts herself or someone else. Anywho, the show was highly enjoyable and I was inspired. It certainly had lessons to give to narrow minded folks. No other reality show has any lessons at all. My parents were saying the people on there were evil or messed up...if they ever watched it they'd realize the meaning of it all. But, they're close-minded, and I can only wish they'd open up sometime and accept and learn. Anyway, I'll end this. I'm sure I sound lame, but it's what I was thinking and wanted to say.
Léon (1994)
UNIQUE!
I was in Wal-Mart yesterday looking through DVDs when I came across a movie I had seen several times on television, "The Professional." It was on the night before and I had to get it. I love this movie. Every character in it is an individual. When I told my mother and sister what the movie was about they looked at me with a look on their face that said "He's a hit-man. He's--a--hit-man." Who said hit men can't have a soul? This one does. The detail of character in this movie is stunning. It has no shame either, and proudly displays images and moments with the raw truth. This little girl does bleed, she does see violence and filth, she does smoke cigarettes and gets slapped by her father. She has no sorrow for her dead and useless family, only her innocent little brother. A hit-man is her idol because he showed her kindness, he did more for her than her family ever did.
Leon himself is a great guy. I found myself wanting to be like him at some points. Even though he is a killer, the man has morals. He has more morals than anyone in any other action movie with explosions and such that I've ever seen. He's very swift on his feet and even though he seems like a very serious person, he can laugh and grin a large smile. The character is just so natural, so graceful in acting. Like I said, detail is shown very well in this movie. Ooh, my favorite though...OH, MY FAVORITE...!...Is Gary Oldman's character, Stansfield. I LOVE him! The moment he comes onto the screen my face lights up like cigarette :). I was actually attracted to him because of his character....Ooh, so deliciously evil! He delivers comedy and cruelty all in one, and he holds that gun so well! I loved how close he got to people. To tell you the truth, it made me a little uncomfortable, haha. But he got so close to Mathilda. Just him and her, and he's poking a gun right in her face. It just goes to show how merciless and serious he can be. I was happy to see the extra scene they cut out from TV right afterward when Willie comes in and interrupts and he's deciding what to do with her.
Stansfield is so strange and shifty, he motions to her awkwardly with the gun to come with them, but then suddenly points it at her and takes aim, but then just thinks to himself "forget it" and puts his arm down. Great character. The storyline itself is good too. No one is afraid to talk about/do things that a lot of other movies won't do. They don't censor out what makes people seem real. They give a 12 year old knowledge she shouldn't know and ways of acting that most parents would shudder at. The hit-man is human and considers what he does a job and when he's not doing his job he's a very decent human being. The villain is a little wacky, but he pulls it off very nicely. He fits the part of a psycho perfectly. The lines in the movie can be catchy and touching, little moments make it all worthwhile. The scene where she walks past her dead family and up to Leon's door is so amazing. She's crying helplessly for him to open the door. I mean, you really can see it in her eyes that she's begging. Wonderful acting, especially for such a young actress. It amazes me how well she does with adults, right in her face too, and all the adult related topics too that she deals with. Anyway, I wish I could write more passionately and interestingly as do a lot of people who write comments, but I just don't think I have a large enough vocabulary. This movie is not easy to explain in words for me. I can only sum it up as "Unique, inspiring (the whole hit-man thing...), amazing, conscious, dramatic, wonderfully acted, and talented." Well, those words poppped into my head. I could say more, but I don't know how.
Bingo (1991)
Two thumbs up, and a wagging tail.
I know a lot of people on here gave this movie a bad review, but when I read those the only words going through my head are "What the f**k???" Geez, people. Don't you get it? The point of this movie is to be a spoof of all the other lame ones, but to be enjoyable because it's not really one of those at all. I mean, it is (but only because it's spoofing...SPOOF-ING!), but it has a good sense of humor and tone to it. I couldn't get enough of the dog. I taped it back in...probably 6th grade, and I'm planning on watching it tonight!!! I really enjoy this movie because, who can't love a dog with such a human-like character to him? Hmm??? And the people he meets along the way too, haha. It's great. It's a great comedy, I love the part where the crooks are trapped by the police and they realize all the hostages are gone, so they look at Bingo and in the next scene they grab the dog and say "one move and the dog gets it!"...well, it's funnier in the movie. But it's definitely worth the watch. I mean, if you keep an open mind and don't act like the rest of these dufuses who probably started the movie with a negative response and kept with it not even WANTING to enjoy it. Geez, give it a chance. And even if you don't like it, I think it was worth the experience. Either way there are funny parts in the movie. Has Lassie ever gone to jail? Has Willy ever been to a place where they serve killer whale meat on the menu?????? Well, have they?! No. So watch it because it's a SPOOF, not just "another" one of those movies. It's great for everyone...except for angry men, and bitchy women.
