Lee Kerslake: Not on the Heep (2023)
A must see for any music fan.
This heartfelt, moving story of drummer Lee Kerslake' s final days is a genuine triumph of a film that showcases the human spirit at its best. The footage from the studio as they record the "Eleventeen" album is carefully mixed with interviews from band mates, fans and family members as Lee triumphantly marches forward with what would be his final work. If you are a fan of truly compelling stories or a huge fan of hard rock then this is an essential film to see. I was so moved by this that I went out and bought the album as well. Trust me, SEE THIS FILM. You will thank yourself for it, even if you shed a few tears as well.
The Last Horror Film (1982)
It could have been a lot better
It's hard not to compare this to "Maniac" considering the cast and the story is pretty unique but you can tell here that they cut corners and it shows. All the dialogue is dubbed and it seems cobbled together and not having Tom Savini and William Lustig behind the camera also doesn't help either. Munro and Spinnel give great performances here and the twist ending is pretty cool, but man it's just so apparent that this could have been better. That aside some of the guerilla shots here were cool (and the topless women sure don't hurt either) and I liked the soundtrack as well. All in all it isn't a bad film but it's very easy to tell that it could have been a lot better.
La notte che Evelyn uscì dalla tomba (1971)
Evil triumphs????????
It's impossible to root for the "hero". Plain and simple he kills innocent women and then we're supposed to root for this guy when someone starts messing with him? No way! The movie ends with the ruse being found out and he walks away scot free nevermind the fact that he kills someone in the first ten minutes of the movie. Is it unique? Yes. It it daring? Perhaps. Does it suck? Well, I at least think so! I guess it's personal preference but I can't enjoy a film where we are introduced to a villain and then are expected to sympathise with him and look at him as the protagonist come the credits. AVOID THIS MOVIE!!!
Firepower (1979)
It should have been a lot better than it was.
By the sheer power of the cast alone this should have been a classic. But with a very convoluted plot this would be gem is a bit of a dud. I think with just a more direct story with more character development would have done the trick. All we are left with are a few decent performances and some pretty impressive action sequences and hopes of what might have been.
However, I love any film where O. J. Simpson is killed. Thank goodness we get to see that here. It's a shame that it happens so far into the movie but any film that has the decency to kill him off (gunned down on a boat and then lit on fire no less) deserves a slightly above average rating. Too bad art hasn't imitated life as of yet.
Strange Wilderness (2008)
How did this get made?
I loved the cast and there were a few legit funny moments but I honestly feel that they made this without bothering to write a full script. Parts of this movie are downright painful to watch and I don't think I will go out of my way to watch it again.
Things (1989)
We have a new Champion.
I've seen thousands of movies and I can now easily say that this is the worst I've ever seen. Every thing in this movie is bad. Every. Single. Thing. Nothing worked; bad lighting, bad sound, bad acting, bad writing and a COMPLETELY incoherent plot. I can only assume that someone held the film makers at gunpoint against their will and forced them to make this and if it wasn't for Joe Bob Briggs I'd have never seen it. Believe me, I like plenty of "so bad they're good" movies, but this one is "so bad that you will question the existence of humanity and how it could ever let anything like this happen...."
She-Wolf of London (1946)
There is no Werewolf............literally.
There actually is no Werewolf. Seriously, not a one in this and I feel a little bit ripped off.
