Blackbird (2019)
The only plot in American drama
There's only one plot in American drama films. Someone is terminally ill. Either a parent whose enstranged children come to say goodbye or a teenager whose friends and family struggle to keep up with that fact.
In both cases the lack of imagination is unbelievable. There MUST be another story to tell. What happened to this genre??
Ordinary Love (2019)
Same old storyline
I wonder what happened to Hollywood drama. The only storyline is a) someone in the family/couple is dying of cancer b) that's it.
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
A documentary would be clearly better
This movie is a waste of time. If you really want to learn the Queen story, watch a few clips on YouTube, listen to the songs and you'll be fine. The whole movie is focused on Freddie Mercury (not cool) but the very shallow performance by Malek, portraits a man that was obnoxious and stubborn in every aspect of his life. The fake teeth is one of the most ridicilous props I've ever witnessed in films. Typical biopic cliches throughout the film, which compeletely erases the creative proccess behind the band. There's no way i would recommend this movie to anyone.
The Theory of Everything (2014)
The theory of nothing
This is a typical biographic film, which almost entirely focuses on the leading actor's performance, just physically trying to portray Steven Hawking, which was as exhausting for the actor as for me watching him. There is not a serious plot here, just a couple having problems concerning this serious disease. Steven Hawking's scientific brilliance was only an asterisk, as the film fails miserably to highlight the importance of his achievements, leaving people asking "Why is this person even considered to be a ground- breaking scientist?". Just a couple of abstract speeches and, Boom! he becomes famous all over the world and respected by his peers. The love story was very soft and even shallow because in the end both admitted not to love each other anymore and went their separate ways, which i think nobody expects in this kind of dramatic situations. I have to say, even though i hate biographical films, i was expecting to watch a good film in this one, but honestly there is NOTHING to keep.
The Grey (2011)
Totally unrealistic and childish
That movie was set up to be entertaining. The combination of the exciting theme with the acting of Liam Neeson was in my mind perfect. But, man was I wrong! Liam Neeson's character was a joke. He portrayed a suicidal person (still nobody knows why) who was supposed to be this big expert on wolves and wild life, but immediately lead a group of a plane crash survivors to certain death. His first order in command: Leave the plane where they had some kind of shelter and go straight to the wolves den! By doing so, everybody except him died. The whole wolves thing was unrealistic, both in their appearance and behavior, not even making sense. The worst scene for me was after a guy was killed by the wolves while they were leaving the crash site. The rest of the team just spent the night exchanging jokes and past stories just like they were in a beach around fire. That was ridiculous to say the least. The writers failed miserably to create a background for the main characters as their life stories were ordinary and boring. This movie is way overrated here, i think people are just afraid to rate low for a Liam Neeson film. They shouldn't.
