This year I disapprove some choices of the Academy in this category, being short-listed two short films, which I think should not have to compete. One of these has a million dollar budget and the producer is well known. I believe that the Academy should support more small productions and young filmmakers who often make their films with little money, efforts in production, but big passion.
Therefore I believe that the great snubbed is
"LIMERENCE", directed by Giuseppe Rossi,
which really represents what is a great indie film. A film made with love. So it remains at the top of this list.
However, the most original and creative short still in race is "Death Of A Shadow".
1) *Curfew* (winner) 2) Don van een schaduw - Death of a Shadow* 3) Asad 4) Buzkashi Boys 5) Henry

Limerence (2012)
Unique in its kind
Masterpieces of Italian cinema as "Amarcord", or "Life is Beautiful" are great treasures, but "Limerence" is a precious jewel. From the beginning we are completely immersed in a glossy atmosphere, unique and remarkable. The story is about a jazz singer, Paolo, (Giuseppe Rossi, who also wrote and directed this amazing film), but its beautiful girl leaves him and he falls into a deep creative crisis. When we can not separate us from the person we love, thinking of her every moment, in psychology, this state is called "limerence". A romantic comedy with many funny and sentimental moments, but every scene is never as it might appear. You can't understand the film at first viewing. I've seen the short film at the Cannes Film Festival this year, and see it on the big screen is a beautiful effect. You fall in love with the beautiful photography of the film that transmits sensuality and perfection (after all, one of the themes is the golden ratio). It reminds me very much Fellini's films. It has its own film grammar. Now the short is in race at the next Academy Awards for the Best Live Action Short Film. Could win? It reserves to win. A beautiful sentimental love story combined with modern jazz and the mathematical beauties of nature. Divine.
