Ahsoka: Part Six: Far, Far Away (2023)

Time seems to stop
25 September 2023
Time seemed to stop whilst enduring this instalment, I'm quite happy to have slow episodes but they must have a reward for the viewer, there was none.

You need to feel some empathy for the main characters but so far they have earned none. I find myself actively disliking punk rock Jedi & willing for her character to die as soon as possible

The actress playing Ahsoka is wooden & devoid of character & her portrayal comes across as smug.

Dialogue & plot are pure garbage, no subtlety simply banging the viewer over the head with the alleged storyline

Really, really, really bad overall.

Self indulgent twaddle
24 October 2020
If you want to know less about Edward Kelly than you already did, then watch this pretentious two plus hour slog.

The first half of the film is a slow trudge where you learn very little about the titular character. One or two set pieces are mildly interesting but do not teach you any more about the young master Kelly.

Act two is a maelstrom of inchorent pseudo art-house pretentiousness with several unintentionally comedic scenes.

Such a waste of a very strong cast & the first time I can remember rooting for the cops to win in an anti hero film just so it would end the film as quickly as possible.

Watching a Transformers film wiull give you more facts about Ned Kelly.

Interesting idea, until 60% of the way through, then you start to wonder if the film will actually have a point /conclusion which usually means it won't.

It doesn't.

This film is pointless & of no value. No matter how bored you are during lockdown, stare at the wall instead it will be more satisfying & rewarding.

One last thing, don't watch this turd of a 'film'

Ugh
2 December 2019
Huge disappointment after the 1st 3 episodes. Although technically it followed Star Wars lore, it was like a bad episode of Star Trex Next Generation/Stargate/Zena all rolled into one. Seemed nothing more than a filler episode written & directed by film students who never attended class.

Without giving away any spoilers, there's a very simple solution to the issue in the episode, he arrives on the planet in it.

Ugh, just ugh.

An Overwrought Trudge
27 July 2019
Having never seen this film I watched it for the 1st time in 2019. The film is plagued by wooden acting, dreadful dialogue, laughable fight scenes, overwrought delivery of lines & a complete lack of chemistry between the two main protagonists. It attempts to make every delivery of dialogue an oscar worthy performance but comes closer to Prince George's acting lessons in Blackadder II.

Compared with other notable films from the same year I fail to see how this garnered so much praise.

Amateur Hour

Dreadful dialogue, chronic acting & below par direction make this film a real chore to watch. A slow trudge through completely unbelievable scenarios with cardboard characters will be your reward if you make the mistake of watching this.

Oof! What a stinker
24 March 2019
I made the same mistake as many many other people thinking all the bad reviews of this film mreally meant it couldn't be 'that bad', I was wrong.

Being a fan of Ferrell & Reilly I thought the film would be at least entertaining low brow fluff, again I was wrong. I had two small giggles at the start of the film then it was just pure boredom from there onwards.

There is no real plot & the dialgue is exceptionally unfunny.

Ferrell & Reilly made a very bad choice agreeing to do this film, they';re both much better than this.

Very promising
2 October 2018
While not every sketch hit the mark, the majority did & when they were on target they were very funny.

Not afraid to parody their own culture(s) & gloriously self deprecating this comedy is a breath of fresh air.

Samson Kayo being the standout performer, he should have his own series of 'Midsomer M*********ing Murders'

I hope the series is picked up

Almost mediocre
28 September 2018
I'm not sure what this film was trying to be. It certainly wasn't a 'Star Wars for the Star Wars fans' film. This could happily be a standalone throw away space romp, oh wait, it was.

Firefly fans might enjoy this as it has that almost mediocre (but not quite) feel to it.

Star Wars needs Jedi, at least in part & this film never had a Star Wars feel to it. Less than half way through it became quite boring to say the least

I feel like I should be writing more about it, but I really can't other than ................. no I really can't

Wide of the mark
24 September 2018
Having been a fan of Line Of Duty & also a fan of Keely Hawes I was the ideal audience for this drama. Unfortunately it was extremely wide of the mark.

I'm happy to suspend a certain amount of belief in the name of entertainment but the colossal plot holes were too big to overlook.

The dialogue was particularly cringeworthy & I found myself embarrassed at watching it at certain parts. The most tedious aspect was the writer assuming that the audience would not be able to follow what was going on & the need to bang you over the head with what was happening & telegraph it ahead of time as you would with a drama written & performed for children.

The quality of acting was chronically poor with the performance of Nina Toussaint-White standing out most profoundly

It was impossible to invest any empathy in any of the characters which led to you not caring about them.

To top it off the final episode was a dull & drawn out set piece with zero drama & a ludicrous narrative ending in complete confusion as to 'whodunnit' & no will at all to attempt to figure it out.

I even rated "Nativity 3: Dude, Where's My Donkey?!" one star higher than this amateur tosh

Meh
24 September 2018
I thought for 24 hours about how to review this film.

I decided it is best to be honest & simply say "Meh". The film happened & I watched it, we figured out the 'twist' almost immediately & I instantly forgot about it.

Theron is worthy of much more

Profusely Poor
18 October 2017
A slow trudge of over 90 minutes of anguished facial expressions & overtly melodramatic music.

Difficult to judge Bug Hall's acting prowess as (thankfully) his dialogue was kept to a minimum.

All of the supporting cast's performances were excruciatingly bad. Being benevolent I would put the blame onto the clunky, generic dialogue & lack of plot.

I can't express how poor this attempt at a film was, no redeeming features at all.

Particularly Dire
10 October 2017
As a fan of alternative time-line / sci-fi films I am open to strange plots that need a leap of faith to enjoy.

The problem with this film wasn't the plot, but how long it took to tell the story. At best this should've been a short story of around 15 or 20 minutes.

The acting was cringe-worthy, particularly by Teresa Palmer who brought a whole new level to over acting. The dialogue was embarrassing at best & nonsensical. Constant voice overs, presumably in an attempt to explain the thinly veiled plot, over use of melodramatic music also made the film suffer.

Ultimately there was no empathy with any of the characters as they were exceptionally two dimensional & irritating Dreadful screenplay, toe curling dialogue, chronic acting, a plot that makes no sense & characters you don't care about actually make this the worst film I've seen so far in 2017 No redeeming features, give this a wide birth

What absolute twaddle
19 September 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Has a feel of a film students first attempt at sci-fi who is determined to use all + 1 sci-fi clichés very badly.

Pretty much all you need to know about the film are contained in the plot summary thus (spoiler below): "Just as she finds him his brain is sucked out by a tentacled machine. She is upset." "The alien entity which receives it convulses and is overtaken with Jarrod's consciousness. It is upset at being an alien in a world of goo and rampages a bit." The film leaves you half finished through a wishy washy plot line, while often this can be a very good thing for a decent plot, this simply reinforces what a bad decision it was for you to waste a whole 94 minutes of your life that you will never get back again.

I really could do better without trying.

If you are looking for throw away alien nonsense, try Battle Los Angeles instead, it's also daft but quite enjoyable rather than this twaddle.
