Kate & Leopold (2001)
Finally - a Good Clean interesting movie
Thank you to the directors for not kowtowing to the Hollywood crowd and keeping the movie clean. Very refreshing, good for a whole family to watch without having to fast forward or explaining to the younger kids. The movie was relevant, interesting, fun, and timely considering this twilight zone we are in with the corona stuff. It was neat to see that Leopold was able to enter his childhood home centuries later/ Kudos x3. Tom
The Neighbor (2007)
Waiting waiting waiting
For these people to stop fighting. Such a negative movie, it took forever for the people to become real. And then - what, two minutes of happiness ? The writer must live a sad life if he / she thinks people enjoy this type of confilct. There were a few funny parts but they were few and far between. I am sure this portrays what goes on in life, but who wants to spend their leisure time watching lives like this. No wonder there were only 61 reviews. I am sorry I wasted the time. Wanna watch a real movie on couples in conflict ? Try this on for size: The Ultimate Gift
Play the Game (2009)
Not a Family Movie
Short: Don't watch this movie with ... you fill in the blank
Just do a search (Ctrl F) in the reviews for family, crude, sleaze, and "dis" - and this will send you off to find something else to watch. Andy - what were you thinking when you accepted this role?
Two Hats (2012)
A True Reality Show
This movie shows a family who poured their lives into sharing Jesus Christ with others, and God blessed them and their efforts in many ways. God protected them, showed them the fruits of their labors, and gave them a full and rich life. They were not "gonna" people, they put their hands, feet, and family to work for God's kingdom. And ... it simply doesn't get any better than that. Pardon the pun, but my hat is off to the whole Wells family.
Manchester by the Sea (2016)
Don't waste your time
If you like movies that are full of very dysfunctional relationships, constant drinking, using the f word more than you are able to count - this is your perfect movie. What a shame. Seems most of the characters in the immediate family, and their friends, never got past the 9th grade in their maturation process. I must admit I stopped watching the movie about half way, it was so bad. Per another reviewer - it couldn't be said better: A sign of a good film is that one wants to return to it over and over for repeated viewings. It is difficult to imagine many viewers who would wish to endure an encore performance of "Manchester By the Sea." What were the metacritics and the various awards people thinking ??
Words and Pictures (2013)
Dripping with sarcasm, disrespect, and "hope my teenager is not like that"
What is the meaning of a movie that displays a very talented English teacher and writer as an alcoholic who is obnoxious, unlikeable, and totally wasting his life / talent away because he is addicted to alcohol. Why not just watch someone puking his guts (life) out for 90 minutes. Very sad if this is what interests you. What is the point ? Lots of very poor character traits shown in the students, and spineless administration that lets the kids get away with this. Yes, the movie portrays reality, but not the healthy side. Look for something else to do with your time. Suggestions: Radio, Listen to your Heart, Unconditional, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, Ring the Bell, and The Mighty, to name a few. All display healthy reality shows of characters that have handicaps, but overcome them with strength, determination, humor, and honesty. Support traits that make society better, not those that bring people down to the gutter.
Seven Deadly Words (2013)
Great Family Movie
This is a funny yet serious movie, even sad. Sad because it shows that even churches can be dysfunctional. So - the movie has a little bit of every type of real life. Fortunately it was made by Christians and thus the usual Hollywood tricks for skin and sex and other "thrillers" are not included - just real life stuff.
The good and bad of it is that it shows that people, their egos, pride, pet projects can get in the way of the greater good - and this is bad. The good part is that if you pray, listen to what is right in the eyes of God, then things work out well - not matter the opposition - and this is good.

Bed & Breakfast: Love Is a Happy Accident (2010)
Immature 8th grade boy may like it
Sorry folks - this movie is written for immature eight grade boys. The whole movie revolves around kissing scenes and staring at the parts of the lead actress. I am surprised that Dean Cain took the role of this cheesy low rent movie. I would not waste your time, unless you are an immature eight grade boy, but even then with all the other films out there - you too would be bored.I am not quite sure why they make movies like this one, unless they have a quota or something. I guess it was supposed to be funny and cute, so if you only had two choices and the other one was reruns of The Andy Griffith Show - I would watch Andy, Opie, and Barney - much more entertaining.
Listen to Your Heart (2010)
A real Love Story
Wow - a very real story of love and wanting. Hollywood gives you the cliff notes version, full of skin and unrealistic logistics. This movie tells a real story of love, slow and sure and deep and all that true love is. Beautiful shots of NYC. If you are hooked on the hooey that H-wood throws at you, stay away. If you want to relive the memories of your first love, grab some popcorn or good chocolate and get ready to see it all again. Several kissing scenes and a tiny amount of skin - but teach your kids what true love is with this movie and they will never settle for second best. Though this is not a big budget film, it plays like the big ones. Seems that most of the critics are young, not having experienced much in life other than "Life is Good", shallow commitments, living in a throw away society that is blown and tossed about by the wind of their whims that are highly influenced by the me-ness of selfies and social media.
