Superwog (2017)
Stick with it, if only for the credit bloopers
First of all, i will 100% agree with reviewer TheGusk, after reading their review i decided to see how bad it was. I had a similar experience, it was terrible, yet i couldn't switch it off and ended up binge watching the full series in one go.
The reason i kept going was the bloopers at the end of each show, this never happens anymore and it brought immediate laughter to what was painful at times to watch. I think to see the actors out of character and laughing relaxed the tension of the show and makes you instantly laugh.
A favourite part for me was when Superwog was fostered to a new family. The parents were actors from Neighbours and Superwog makes a joke about it.
Overall i wouldn't recommend to friends, glad i caught the bloopers though. If it gets another series hopefully it's more developed.
The Spy Who Dumped Me (2018)
Degrading to wimen and people with intelligence
Two white female leads with a non surprising token black female friend. This is the first sign that you should switch this off. The 2nd is the acting and the characters of the females (the male spy parts actually seemed semi-decent). The third and final part which is within the first 20 minutes is when a ballsac is dangled in front of the camera followed by a very quick flash of uncut European penis (as described).
Sometimes you've got to review the really bad ones to make sure people don't waste their time, and hopefully the people that make these terrible films get the net!!
Izzy Gets the Fuck Across Town (2017)
Indie is where the heart is. Soundtrack is perfect!
As a Mackenzie Davis fan from (Halt & Catch Fire) it was great to see her in the lead role for this indie film, Izzy Gets the Fuck Across Town. Although it's not laugh out loud funny all the way through, i did find myself laughing at some of the situations she got herself into while trying to get to an engagement party at the other side of town, which just so happened to be her ex's.
Along the way she meets several different characters that you may have seen before either on tv or other films. Each time she moves onto another location there is a musical interlude which takes us into the start of each new scenario. The soundtrack works really well with this, and for me eventually takes us to the best scene in the show where we find that Izzy's sister is Virginia (Carrie Coon). They used to play in a band together, and we can see there is a strong hatred towards each other, however they are almost blackmailed into playing a song together by (Rob Huebel) Bennett, who is Virginia's husband. They play a 4 minute cover of Heaven to Betsy's - Axemen. While they have the guitars in hand, its not clear if they actually play as the camera is focused on both of them singing, which both of them make a fantastic job on. If you gave up on the film before this then you really missed out on a great scene.
Moving on to the rest of the film, Izzy finally ends up at the party and we finally find out why she is covered in blood. As the engagement party unfolds and we hear the cheers in the background Izzy wonders what she has done with her life and leaves the party, but not after having a go at the new fiance of course.
I shall leave my review here as there is around 15 minutes of the story still to go. I will let you figure out if you want to continue with watching the outcome.
Overall i liked this film, perhaps people shouldn't have expected too much from the plot outline, but if you want a quick hour and a half film to escape to with quirks, great soundtrack and a brilliant singing scene then this is the one for you.
Final Space (2018)
Booooooooored
I watched the first 15 minutes and turned it off, purely through boredom. I had no interest in any of the characters, and to be fair I couldn't even tell you a character name after writing this immediately after watching it. All I can remember was "boobs" written on the side of a robots head?
I had a strong coffee 5 minutes prior to watching it so I can't blame tiredness on being bored. I seen a 10/10 review saying it was a masterpiece, I'm wondering if this is the same type of person that gives dead pool 10/10.
