Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016)
Original Turtle Power
A new and improved production that goes intergalactic and defines the space time continuum. This film relies on the echo of our past generation who biked without helmets and stuck gum under tables as a calling sign of youth. There is a driven focus on settling the score of the first failed attempt at re-branding an empire of comic book genius. We are witnessing a continued revival of old cliche's hash tagged and packaged in cellophane. So the mind will ultimately compare and contrast, though this sequel is what every fan has dreamed of. Pick it apart if you choose, all you're doing is ruining your only chance at bodacious awesomeness. Make sure to have pizza on hand in the first frame of the film so you can join in on the party!
The Other Side of the Door (2016)
The East Indian Grudge
Welcome to a new Avenue of spookiness with a story never told before on the big screen. An expose'of desperate measure, as a mother undergoes her search for closure. Our cinematic backdrop is the landscape of India, and our protagonist is a well know star from The Walking Dead series, Sarah Wayne Callies. This supernatural creep fest triggers an age old question of the afterlife and what steps do you undergo to reach heaven or hell. We are engaged by a haunting transition from life into death, carefully detailing the psychological depression of parenthood and a division of marriage who handle their grief in separate ways. Considerable terror tied into numerous shocks, the eerie aftertaste is an unsettling climax. As this is clearly a PG13 horror film, you will be satisfied if you do not expect the pure venom of fear.
The Darkness (2016)
A Goosebumps Family Feature
Our thirst for thrills and demonic apparitions has dissolved our appreciation for the perfect paragraph. The critic that is rating a film based on their failed expectations, is engrossed in a dream to recapture a past experience. The Darkness is not a failed attempt to produce a well developed story, it is the audience who have failed to appreciate the production. How many spooky movies could you watch with family members who are still studying in middle school? There is no embellishment of blood and death, or terrifying fear, only a perfectly written paragraph with a predicted climax. This cast reflects the typical conflicts that an upper class family fight through, incorporated into a supernatural entity that drives The Darkness in them to hate each other. 1Cup of Poltergeist 3 Cups of Goosebumps and a Teaspoon of Paranormal Activity.
Monumental: In Search of America's National Treasure (2012)
Information divides you from the blind
The director, Kirk Cameron has come along way in his career, this film proves to be the picture of his true talent. In an age where information has been the backbone to change, we are encouraged to research our facts given the falsehood of 9/11 and our current war in the middle east. The truth from which a story is fabricated can only stay true until the lie is presented. Though we are always in anticipation of the real story becoming a text in our history books, with a broadcasting of their admission of fault, this is not the case. Our future will only be given the same ill facts, the lies will be stone and the student will believe this. Solely to maintain a patriotic faith in the system. Some lies need to be told to prevent anarchy, some lies need to be re-written to correct the course we are on.
