The Nest (2020)
Anticlimactic thanks to synopsis
Do yourself a favour and give this a miss. British drama and thrillers are usually excellent. Not this one.....boring
Only reason I watched was due to the synopsis as I love psychological thrillers.
What I got was a dreary boring mish-mash dark (due to lightning not undertones) of rubbish. It was such a disappointment and I'll never get that two hours back
While I understand the ending, it wasn't what I was expecting based on the precious two hours.
It's not hard to write a spoiler free review because there's honestly nothing worth spoiling, I'm just padding out to get to six hundred characters.
13 Minutes (2021)
Misogyny and Homophobia Alive and well in the Heartland of America
This movie should've just remade Twister rather than try to be something intelligent.
All it confirmed is the Heartland of America is a misogynistic, homophobic wasteland of religious nutters.
Oh and there was a tornado.
Jappeloup (2013)
A film loved by a show jumper
I've ridden and competed in show jumping most of my life and usually give horse movies a huge miss. As an equestrian you spend most of the movie picking the inaccuracies apart.
Jappeloup was brilliant, and I loved every second of it, cried, laughed, held my breath, counted strides between fences and marvelled are the recreation of the Olympic arena in Soul.
Megalodon (2018)
I won't get that 20 minutes of my life back
Because that's how long I lasted before turning this movie off.
Skater Girl (2021)
Misogyny and repression Alive and well in 2021
I can't believe in this day and age women and young girls are still treated like men's possessions.
The Towering Inferno (1974)
Still as good today
This was the age of true film making. No CGI no green screens, just pure man made film making.
Irwin Allen is the master of disaster movies, and Towering Inferno is my favorite.
Apart from Die Hard, nothing has come close to the original
Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (2020)
In a crazy world, such a beautiful film
Ive Just spend the last two hours laughing, crying and thoroughly enjoying myself.
In this crazy world we're currently living in, this movie was pure joy, and wonderful tribute to the European Song Contest
Faith, Hope & Love (2019)
I actually enjoyed it
This is not the type of movie I watch, I prefer hard core action or horror. But it intrigued me because of Peta.
Who knew, I really enjoyed it.
Lost in Space (2018)
Binge Watched S2 over two days
And wasn't disappointed. Ignore the negative Nancy's. Loved the eps, love the Robinson's, love Dr Smith. But absolutely adore the musical score.
Enjoy the show for what it is, good fun.
Ride Like a Girl (2019)
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner
As an avid horse rider and competitor most of my life, I always going into anything horse related with great trepidation. But Ride like a Girl is a wonderful, uplifting telling of Michelle Payne's life, brought to life by wonderful actors.
Bravo on a great Aussie film
BH90210 (2019)
So Glad I ignored the bad reviews
I almost didn't watch BH90210 when it popped up on Australian TV two weeks ago. I'm in love with this trip down memory lane, and the concept of the actors playing themselves playing their characters is pure genius.
Cargo (2017)
This showcases everything great about the Australian film industry
I love zombie movies, The Walking Dead and everything about the genre. From attending conventions here in Oz, I already knew the trolls were out in force on Cargo.
But having just watched it, I loved everything about it. From the downplay of a zombie plague, to the terrifying beauty of the Aussie outback, to showcasing the next generation of Indigenous actors, I loved Cargo.
Left Behind (2014)
Lives up to every review on how terrible it is
Nothing more to add. At least The Knowing was a good movie until the end when you realised it was Scientology propaganda.
The Meg (2018)
Ignore the haters and check your brain at the door
I'll start by saying I love shark movies. The first two Jaws, The Shallows, 47 Meters down and of course all the silly SciFi channel movies.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Meg, and loved the fact that it just the right balance of 'plot' and scaring the bajebers out of you.
But what I loved the most was the homage the film makers made to all the well known shark movies. A friend asked why I burst out laughing at the dog named Pippin.
