Stealth Fighter (1999)
Painful, really painful
I knew this movie had no value from the start, but it really confirmed it when the protagonist has nearly averted Armageddon, but puts down his weapon and decides to duke it out with the villain...he has a sense of honor you know. Please save yourself from this movie and don't even start it.
I got stuck having to watch this on a long distance bus ride in Egypt (the kind where they play the volume ALLLLLL the way up). It was followed by a low-budget martial arts film, which was much better than this one. At least I, unlike the other unfortunate reviewers, have an excuse for not being able to bail out before the end :-)

I just didn't get it
I was very disappointed in this film. The director has shown some talent in his other endeavors, but this just seemed to be filler. There may have been a deep meaning behind it, but it seems to me to be nothing but a director who has access to some toys.
I would highly recommend his other works to people, but certainly not this one. As I watched it, I kept on thinking it would pick up after an initial slow period, but it never did. At the end of the movie I was neither entertained nor moved nor thought of things in a new way. I could only say to myself, "What was that?"
There were a few really striking parts of the film, but not enough to warrant sitting through it again.

Beautiful
I think this is one of the finest movies that I've ever seen. There are times that I don't exactly understand the movie, but that's OK. I saw this movie on the big screen for the first time (and this is a movie where it truly makes a difference to see it on the big screen). My friend and I got out of the movie and said, "Can you believe what we just saw?"
I think it is one of the most beautiful movies that I've ever seen. One can argue whether the point that the director was trying to make was made or even needs to be made. I don't know. I just know that at the end of the movie, I was overwhelmed.
