Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013)
We needed a replacement for the office and got it
Me and my husband were devastated when The Office finished up and had been looking for something along the lines of Death Valley (which we were highly disappointed only got one season). Brooklyn 99 fills both these voids. This is all peppered with a bit of Archer.
This show has great characters and fantastic writing. Even though you feel like your watching any of the above three shows, its still entirely original and isn't afraid to go places you didn't think it would go.
I hope this show is around for many more years to come. You can tell that the actors have a lot of fun with the show. That just brings it all together.
The best character hands down is Gina but each of the characters will have you in stitches. Not since The Office has a collection of colorful characters worked so well together.

If you have a baby/toddler you need this movie
This movie makes me laugh every time I watch it.
However we use it to entertain our child. Babies love to watch other babies and this is an hour and a half of baby footage in high quality with no narration. It keeps babies entertained when all other TV won't. I don't think the makers of this movie had this intended audience but I swear if you have a baby/toddler this movie is a god send.
For any parent this is a must have movie for you library. It allows us to have a shower, clean the house, have five minutes peace.
Other than this its a great movie and I enjoy watching it over and over with my daughter. I love seeing how other cultures raise their children and it is a fascinating look at the first year of life.
Hit & Miss (2012)
at first I wasn't sure I would like ... but then it took me all of 2 mins to be hooked
I was impressed. I honestly didn't think I would be able to get into it as it seemed a bit too out there but I honestly enjoyed the show. Its a great piece of television. Raw, brutal, yet it explores the bond of family and relationships in a soft heart warming way.
I wouldn't say this is for the faint of heart or easily offended as there is a lot of full frontal everything in this show. But it is used in a very tasteful way to explore the blurred line transsexuals go through in their transition from one gender to another.
This show is more than anything an exploration of the ups and downs of a transsexual's transition. Its also about acceptance. The assassin part just gives a sort of sub context for everything.
Brilliant acting by everyone in the show. That was what was needed to really bring it together or else this show would have fallen on its head. And the writing was top notch.
All in all I highly recommend this as one of the better piece of television I've seen in a while and I hope that more like this comes out of England. America has gone down the reality TV path too far to return I think and we have to look to Britain to give us the intellectual TV that is missing. I also hope there is a season 2 because that cliff hanger at the end was about as good as when I watched Sherlock a couple years back ... I will give British TV that ... they love their cliff hangers!!!
Arrow (2012)
Not bad for a hero show
I have to say I enjoyed this show. I wasn't expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. I'm somewhat familiar with the hero genre and I felt I had to say that the storyline is completely derivative. The orphan (so to speak) rising up to tackle a corrupt city with his billions of dollars and secret lair is pretty much ripped right from Batman. Even the fact that Oliver returns from the dead to reclaim his billions and clean up the streets of said city feels ripped from Nolan's first batman film.
The character Oliver feels to me like Batman who sort of splashed himself with a touch of hawkeye and robin hood. But other than these plot similarities I was pleasantly surprised with this show.
The writing, even if they are treading on roads much traveled, is done well enough as to give a fresh take on these roads. The characters are strong, if typical. I mean his sister is a very typical teenager in American TV shows. The action sequences were what sold this for me. They aren't dumbed down for families. They are gritty, flowing and while a bit over the top (I couldn't help but think how does a rich playboy stuck on an island alone for five years learn moves like that) it works. The acting is sufficient that it ties it all together.
Is this show the next great thing? No. Will I come back for more ... absolutely. It fills a nice hole in the sci fi/fantasy/hero genre that is missing currently and does it well. However I see this show going the way of firefly should their be another writer's strike as it will really only appeal to those who are comic book fans or women who want a bit of eye candy. Or worse, failing in its first season. I hope they can introduce a few new hooks that will keep the audience there, maybe widen it a bit and keep this going for a few more seasons yet.

Not for the faint of heart
For those who find South Park offensive I would not suggest this show. For those who do love South Park this has the same shocking humour that South Park does.
I enjoyed the show, I have seen some of Daniel Tosh's stand up and couldn't help but think he might have had a hand in the writing. A lot of the jokes came across as something he would have come up with.
There's a real grab bag of characters in this show, all the typical personality types. They all bounce off one another to get some great humour going.
As this is a very confronting show in its jokes those who are easily offended probably shouldn't watch it. The tone was set as no taboo will be left untouched, no ground too sacred. I found that the show wants to have fun with its characters and its not going to let political correctness get in the way.
For those who like adult humour you'll get a great laugh. I'm not going to label as the greatest work of art I've ever seen but it kept me entertained and I'll be coming back for more.
