Feluda Pherot (2020)
Srijit Mukherji , Hats off!
First off, I'm a great critic of Srijit's movies but this time he blew my mind off. Tota was born to be Feluda (he have to look after his gait and be a bit more natural) and so was Anirban born for being Lalmohan babu (Topshe seems stupid here , but I think that was Director's instructions, not the actor's fault).
This is the Feluda that I have always wanted to see on-screen. This is Feluda that I have dreamt of while reading every line. This is that thrill , minus any extra fat. Srijit, you are the worthy successor of Satyajit, finally.
Bidai Byomkesh (2018)
The Bengali Audience is not ready for Debaloy Bhattacharya
You need educated audience for the appreciation of such experiments. I watched 'Bidaay Byomkesh' after being amazed by 'Dracula Sir' and 'Charitrahin 3" . Honestly Debaloy is a genius and he won't get his credit here. The audience is either uninitiated or mediocre. Bidaay Byomkesh might have a story that is not at all at par with Sharadindu's novels, but anyone who understands the nuances of filmmaking, will but be mesmerised by Debaloy's frames, light use, and colour grading. Abir and Sohini did quite good and Sujoy Prasad is a revelation in this movie. It is a must watch for lovers of alternate cinema. For Byomkesh fans, skip this.
Taqdeer (2020)
If only I could give 20/10
More than full-marks in Acting, Cinematography, Characterisation, Screenplay, even Colour-grading !
I'm speechless. Taqdeer will make you bite your nails, have a laugh and then punch you in your stomach hard !!!
Dracula Sir (2020)
An extremely unnecessary movie
Anirban seems confused in most scenes as he switches between 1971 and present time. Mimi has forgotten dialogue delivery , the Gaaner Opare Mimi is lost forever.
This is the second unnecessary movie of Debaloy , first being Bidaay Byomkesh.
Damadol (2013)
Underrated
This is the finest original and modern comedy I have seen in bengali. Dragged at some places, but most other premises are extremely smart and hilarious. Enjoyable indeed.
Shob Bhooturey (2017)
Extremely Underrated
This is the best original horror movie in Bengali that I have ever seen. Never for once the movie loses its track, perfectly edited and excellent use of light. I wonder when will the bengali audience learn to appreciate good movies.
Finally Bhalobasha (2019)
Anjan Dutta at his finest
This is one of the finest anthology of love stories in Bengali and one of the finest stories of human relations . Ofcourse Anjan Dutta is a master of all that, but the magic that he creates here with Suprovat and Anirban, surpasses Brokeback Mountain in terms of Drama . Nothing to say about the beautiful music and unparallel lyrics . The culmination of the different plots is also consistent and satisfying . IMO, this is Anjan Datta's one of his finests.
Line of Duty: Breach (2016)
An emotional roller-coaster
I have hardly ever seen a finale so, so satisfying. This is what you were up for if you've stayed put for 3 seasons . You deserve this !
A perfect 10 for a finale --- rare to find.
Dangerous (2020)
0/10 but added 1 only for Bipasha Basu
Extremely stupid story that makes the audience feel like an idiot to have tuned into this. Every episode spoiling the premise set by the previous episode in the name twist ! Trust me, if you're a fan who wants to see this for Bipasha (like me), it is still not worth it. Although she looks and acts well and is the only reason you keep on watching, she couldn't really help a flat story with cliched dialogues. In the end the story is just a silly A-betrayed-B-and-C-betrayed-A-and-... !
If you're still wondering whether the story is that bad, consider this -- it is an MX Player original . Period.
Hrid Majharey: Live in My Heart! (2014)
Underrated Masterpiece !
I'm out of words after watching this. How is this movie rated at 6.6 when most film-critics all across the globe thinks this is one of the finest Shakespearean interpretation ever in the world !
Technical brilliance and thrilling screenplay. One of the finest Bengali cinemas ever made.
