The Midnight Hour (2001)
This Movie Was Silicone Enhanced.
The Midnight Hour AKA: Tell Me No Lies (as found in some video stores) can be judged in two different ways. One by it's Merritt as a movie, complete with a plot (no holes), good story and believable conclusion and the other is by the skin flick it is trying to be. This is certainly no more than a B-Movie skin flick, whose sole purpose is to show every girl in the movie in an overly long sex scene at least once.
If you try to rate this as a regular movie, then this is bottom of the line drivel. HUGE plot holes ruin whatever storyline it has going for it. For instance, if a co-worker is killed, would you call the police or head home and hit the hot tub? Judging this movie by it's skin content, it's watchable... barely. The girls, for the most part, are all beautiful but quite obviously enhanced. The sex scenes were all long and overdone, though, and that made it's only redeeming quality a little boring.
Amber Smith could probably be a decent actress if she wanted. She was not as horrible as you could imagine or maybe next to the rest of the cast, she seemed a lot better than she was.
Zoe Anderson, who played Detective Arraya, should not even be watching a movie, much less acting in one. She looked good though, so we know why she was there.
Overall, I would not really recommend this to anyone. Even if you're looking for a good skin flick, there are much better one's out there. I rate this 4 out of 10
Extreme Brazil (1999)
This is pretty much garbage. Extreme Associates is a shell of it's former self.
There was a time when Extreme Associates would put out a good, creative video/DVD. Extreme Brazil is, simply put, trash. This may be the last DVD I rent from this company. In most of their latest videos, this one included, they act like nothing more than big dumb kids who are trying to shock the world.
The girls are unknowns. I understand many people like that but for some reason, in this case, it seems low class. Possibly because they can't come up with a better name for their "actresses" than Bigass or Smokey, probably in some sort of attempt to insult them due to the fact they don't speak English.
I actually liked some of the videos I've seen from this company, such as Asswoman in Wonderland or The Pornographer, but it seems as if they don't even want to put any more effort other than just filming the scene and themselves acting stupid on camera. Probably in real life too, who knows?
If you want some quality instead of this trash, try Perfect Smiles or High Desert Pirates or anything else by Jim Holliday and steer clear of Rob Black and Extreme Associates. I have only been disappointed in recent years.
Savage Roses (2002)
Worst movie I've seen this year. Maybe all time.
I can't think of one movie I've seen this year that's worse, and I saw Gigli. The acting was horrible, as if they never rehearsed. The story was even worse so it's possible that even the "actresses" and "actors" didn't believe in what they were doing. I sure didn't. I don't think most of them had any other work before or after this movie, so that makes sense. I'm trying to think of something good about this movie, and the best I can come up with was the camera work didn't bother me, as I have heard that it was subpar but looked OK to me. Pretty bad stuff if you ask me.
Director James Tucker has made some other movies, and I am promising myself I will steer clear of anything else he has done or will do. By the way, this movie is hiding in Blockbuster as Locas 4 Life so don't be fooled! I gave the movie a 1 of 10.
Perfect Smiles (1999)
One of my favorites. Loved it.
I enjoyed the movie a lot (I know, there's a lot of jokes that can be inserted here, but really). I'm not going to lie and say the acting was great. Everyone knows that acting and adult movies don't mix. I will, however, say that the movie has a great sense of humor, in between the sex and sometimes during. I have seen Jim Holliday's work before and all of his movies share that same quality. I honestly believe he is head and shoulders above the rest in this country for adult movies. The camera work was just great, especially considering the standard for this genre is severely sub-par. Perfect smiles is highly recommended. 10 of 10.
