My Name Is Khan (2010)
fall in love once again!
I just returned home after the screening of MNIK and i had a blast! I just thought i should share my experience with all of you so here it goes...
First things first it ain't a typical bollywood masala flick! It has India's most famous on-screen couple SRK-Kajol but it is not KKHH or DDLJ.... Directed by the supremely talented Karan Johar this movie is an absolute stunner!! In fact everybody(mostly were British) fell in love with SRK's character Rizwan Khan in the movie! Kajol has given a wonderful performance in the movie! I wont be surprised if this movie is nominated for Oscars!
SRK plays Rizwan Khan who suffers from autism or commonly known as asperger's syndrome who is married to a single mother Kajol.. The movie deals with effects of 9/11 which shook the world! One man sets out to see the president of USA and shows wonderfully how the people should be strong to chuck away their fears.. The main highlights of the movie are SRK and the climax! Oh what a climax the movie has! You cant control but smile with lots of tears in eyes seeing the climax!! Once again $RK shows he is the best.
This movie should be go to Oscar..
Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003)
love is immortal!
Karan Johar has done it again. This movie is absolutely wonderful. It has it all--comedy, romance, and deep emotions. You have been warned: this is a tearjerker. Don't bother watching it if you hate sensitive films. Shahrukh, of course, is the show stealer. Nobody can ever replace this brilliant star who can transform perfectly into his character. Saif , the underestimated star, is great with comic timing as he was in Dil Chahta Hai, Na Tum Jaano Na Hum, etc. Preity Zinta was good but wasn't as great as she was in Koi Mil Gaya. Jaya has a nice role. Songs are excellent and, in my opinion, the best soundtrack of the year. The portion of "6 din, ladki in" in the second half was a bit of a drag, however. The best part of this movie, though, is its theme. Carpe diem! People are so concerned with their futures that they forget to live the present. God only knows where we'll be tomorrow. Enjoy today before it's too late.
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995)
come fall in love!
Dilwale made me glad to be a Westerner, just so I could experience the sheer rush in the glorious way this film simply throws its Indian sensibility in your face. It is one of the most completely, openly joyful films I have ever seen.
If you missed this movie than you have missed the best movie made in bollywood history. This movie never seems to bore you.I have saw over a hundred times(Really). It's a fascinating movie. The plot was wonderful. The acting was really award winning.Shahrukh Khan is a gem of an actor.Really incredible acting by him.Kajol was excellent. The songs were awesome! The music was wow.The direction was cool.A must see for those who adore romantic flicks.
The plot is predictable, almost pedestrian--certainly not what you'd call "never done before," and yet I found myself completely absorbed in the story, and rooting for the main characters. This is in large part due to Shahrukh Khan's and Kajol's performances as Raj and Simran. He is totally endearing, and she is totally hot!, and their on screen chemistry is as cute & perky and smoldering & steamy as Fred and Ginger at their peak. It was, simply put, fun to watch them having so much fun.
Director Aditya Chopra was, I understand, only 24 when he made Dilwale, and the film was so successful its Indian first run lasted a world- record 11 years (and may still be going on, as far as I know). A heckuva testimony to Bollywood indeed. This movie has instantly become one of my favorite musicals, and I look forward to finding more films from Chopra, Khan, and Kajol. What a treat!
Chak De! India (2007)
chak de India!
What happens when the reigning actor in India joins a small banner film about sports, and not just any sport but specifically hockey. Not India's cup of tea, you might think, but surprising enough it works ! Shahrukh Khan is Kabir Khan, a washed out center forward of the former great Indian hockey squad. After a mishap in the world-cup final, where he misses a penalty-shot and gets blamed by the media for betraying his country, he makes a comeback. But as a coach not as a player and his goal is, to lead the women of the national Indian hockey squad to their first world-cup. As you can guess coach Kabir faces his lot of troubles; the hockey board who doesn't approve, the girls who wouldn't play under him. At first his goal seems not only far fetched but impossible at that. And what happens next is... magic. Not the best sports movie I have seen in my life, but Chak de is surely the most inspiring one and most surprisingly it comes out the land of love, love and love India. India is infamous for it's bad traffic, high pollution and romantic movies, so Chak de India comes as a breath of fresh air in the land where sports is a untampered subject. Don't get me wrong it shows, the script is not an original one, it's not the best written movie I've seen, the dialogues just don't come across naturally. The movie utilises before seen underplays, like the rivalry in the team between the two main strikers, the complete impossible goal, the failure of the main character (Kabir), ... The acting isn't the best piece of acting I've seen in a while, it's quite the contrary, this movie has a list of newcomers and a seasoned veteran to guide them, Shahrukh plays his role convincingly but yet he is not the star, for me this is Chitrashi Rawat who plays Komal, the tiny striker I think this girl has played her role to a "T" and together with Shilpa Shukla who plays Bindia Naik they keep their ground pretty well against King Khan. But the rest of the cast is just not up to the task and this shows. But enough of the negatives lets get to the points where this movie just stands out let's begin with the overall feel, because of the way the hockey matches are shot the movie lifts up 10 notches, the other is the perfect use of background music in comparison with slick editing, I think at this point I think the movie is easily comparable to Hollywood 'A-listers'. You know what's gonna happen but still because of the sheer craftsmanship the movie pulls you to the edge of the seat and just for that I give Chak De India 4 stars out of 5. If you're in need of something else than that sobby bollywood romance, go watch this and feel proud to be an Indian.
Swades: We, the People (2004)
best of $RK
Saw it last night with a packed cinema and I must say Ashutosh Gowariker has done it again. Nice storyline, little slow but he knows how to make a thoughtful film. Really made me think about being an NRI.
Great songs, with A.R Rahman Music of course. The actress Gayatri Joshi played her part very well and she looks very beautiful. Definitely a new star. Shah Rukh Khan well is Shah Rukh Khan, one of the best actors of our times and he can play pretty much any part. As an Indian born in another country I felt myself agreeing with Sharukh's character at times, and this empathy led me to enjoy this movie thoroughly. Despite the odd gratuitous song (popcorn break for me) with rather over-the-top lyrics this movie covered a tremendous amount of ground, from dealing with one's identity to the delicate trade-off between material ambitions and spiritual fulfillment, as well as the importance and drawbacks to preserving an ancient culture. I feel these themes were handled deftly by the director, but don't expect a Lagaan - this movie shines for different reasons, however, I can expect stubborn fans of the "traditional" Indian movie formats to be a little put off. The film certainly has a more modern flair fused with traditional elements - which to me, was a refreshing change.
Best film of the year. Watch it and it will make you think. $RK.we all love U
Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012)
fall in love once again!
Another a Brilliant,Immortal love story from The Legend Late filmmaker Yashji... Jab Tak Hai Jaan is a romantic saga which spans two ages. The first is set in 2002 with Samar Anand (Shah Rukh Khan) in his late twenties in London where he falls in love with Meera (Katrina). The second is set in present day with Samar now an army officer who meets Akira (Anushka), a 21 year old aspiring documentary filmmaker
The story goes into flashback mode as we learn about Samar's lost love. A hard working chap in London, Samar worked a couple of jobs to make ends meet but always looked at the brighter side of things. A chance meeting with the rich heiress Meera (Katrina Kaif) changes both their lives. While Meera wants Punjabi singing lessons from him, Samar barters it for English lessons from her. Soon, the two fall in love, though Meera is betrothed to someone else.
On the other side of the timeline, Samar is now a bitter, reticent army officer who doesn't even bother with a bomb suit while defusing explosives. Akira finds herself increasingly drawn to Samar and even he thaws a bit.
But why did Samar and Meera part ways? Will they meet again? And does Akira have a chance with Samar???
The movie is not like other remaking south movies or fake action movies.. Its just a simple love story that when u will see u will fall in love again! It learns us that if u believe in your love then wait for your time..definitely your time will come.. love U $RK & Yashji....
