Born to Race (2011)
It's not bad
Born to race is essentially the street racing movie that can relate to real life. Not only is "Need for Speed" and the "F&F" series unrealistic (still great!), but neither of those use realistic cars that you can typically get(veyrons, 911gt3s etc.). Born to Race uses cars like imprezas and mustangs. This makes it so that teenagers and the younger drivers can actually see themselves with these cars and relate. Of course we can't and won't street race, but its still nice to see a car like yours being focused on in the movie. Those are not spoilers, its in the description of the movie... It is an enjoyable movie for a Sunday night or an airplane flight. Whether its flashy enough for a theater; your choice. Although I do not regret watching it, parts were a bit sappy. Only certain lines though, and this happens in all movies anyways so why complain. I held back on these kinds of smaller racing movies because I was attached to the big one; Fast and Furious. After watching this, it really was worth seeing.
200 M.P.H. (2011)
horrible, but worth it
This movie is horrible on all levels. The story sucks, the animations for crashes and spinouts are absolutely terrible, the acting reeks, and even the driving during the races are sucky. BUT it is worth watching. This movie is entertaining on a sarcastic level. 200 mph is so bad that its fun to watch. All the cars are junkies, lemons, ricers, whatever you would call it, except the GTR. Even though almost every car racing movie has a GTR. I doubt that the people who wrote the script and chose the cars actually knew anything about them. The numbers and statistics that they were talking about were way off. For example, 180?? no way. The GTR can max out near 211. In fact during the entire movie, not one car or person came close to 200 miles per hour. This film is a Sunday night, a long day at work, hiding under the desk at school, and an airport layover movie. Not worth watching in any kind of theater. Although it is most entertaining because the mess ups and inconsistencies are so obvious. Not a good movie but it was amusing.
The Grey (2011)
Different, very different
The Grey is about a group of oil riggers who participate in a plane crash which falls into a vast area of pure snow as far as the eye can see. The few survivors are constantly followed by wolves as they trek across the snow desert environment. Each survivor is killed from time to time because of each of their phobias, weaknesses, or plain old stupidity. The only man who seems to be smart is the main character who is acted by Liam. It turns out that in the movie, the character is constantly dreaming or reminded about his wife. You only find out near the end of the movie that she recently died. In a purely coincidental truth, Liam's real life wife had also died just before the filming of The Grey due to a skiing accident. In the end of the movie, Liam is about ready to give up when the pack of wolves surround him. The alpha male challenges Liam's character, he wraps his hands in tape and attaches broken glass bottles. The movie ends quickly as the wolf pounces and you can hear the fight for a few seconds with the screen blacked out.
Upside Down (2012)
Just watch it and you won't regret it!
Such a good movie! People are criticizing talking about science and how the two worlds might collide, and some others are asking questions that were answered. For example: "Why are Adam's shoes on fire?" Well its because the very first thing they said in the movie was that matter from opposite worlds will catch on fire if they are in contact for too long. It is defiantly very interesting and the answer to most ridiculous questions is "because the director said so". This is exactly the type of movie I love seeing. Not extremely sappy romance, but a lot of other things going on around also. If only there are other movies that are like this cause the only ones I have found...I have seen. Two thumps up!
Frozen (2013)
Very enjoyable
Its defiantly worth watching, even though most of us are in high school, we still cant resist watching a Disney movie like this; no matter how embarrassing. The story is good, songs are good (and very popular now), and everybody else is watching it also. Be sure to watch it at some point. More of a great airplane movie though, not so much theater just because of the genre. The characters in this movie are good, and the voices fit relatively well. Its easy to follow along with and makes you feel happy for some reason. Like being too old for Disney parks but going anyways...if that makes sense. Once in a while you can tell that they couldn't figure out how to make something flow so they just went with it unrealistically but who cares, its the only negative.
