You Got Served (2004)
Very good dancing, very good soundtrack, acting not as good.
When I went to see You Got Served in the movie theaters, I was amazed at the beginning of the movie when all the bands were dancing and doing their thing. The dancing was very loose and fun and didn't look too choreographed. Towards the middle and end of the movie, the essence faded and became another boring movie. I would recommend this movie only for people who have an interest in hip-hop music and dancing or else no one would want to see this. The fact that B2K was featured in this move drew thousands of young girls to see this movie. If B2K wasn't in this movie, I think it wouldn't have gotten as much hype and attention as it did.
Love & Basketball (2000)
I fell in love with "Love & Basketball"
Love & Basketball is one of the greatest films i've ever seen! It fills you with mixed emotions. It's actually the first movie where i've actually felt like I was involved with these people's lives. Sanaa Lathan and Omar Epps deliver a powerful punch to the movie. The movie tells the story of two kids, Monica (Lathan) and Quincy "Q" (Epps). The movie takes place at four points of their lives. Childhood, High School, College, and Adulthood. This movie shows how Love & Basketball are two powerful things when they are combined. They can make or break your relationship. This film is perfect for men and women alike. Many people might argue that the message of this film is too "girly" but the film is deeper than just your average chick flick. I wouldn't call it a chick flick. I'd call it romance or drama. I don't think really "macho" and "tough" guys would like this movie. But it's definitely something that everyone should check out.
The Fighting Temptations (2003)
Fun & Funky Film
This movie was about a man named Darrin (Cuba Gooding Jr.) who returns to his hometown from New York City to read the will of his aunt who passed away. While he is there, he comes into contact with the other characters of the town (Montecarlo, GA) and he stumbles upon his old fling Lily (Beyoncé Knowles). Darrin's aunt leaves him in charge of leading the local church choir to a gospel championship. This was one of the greatest movies i've seen. I'm a huge fan of Beyoncé, so to see Beyoncé in this movie doing her thing is a dream for me. The movie has it's good and bad parts. The acting is great. The soundtrack is even greater. I think that this film would be more accepted by the African-American group. I myself am African-American and there are some parts in this movie where I think only African-Americans will get. It's an A+ Job. Cuba was hilarious in this movie. Not one of his best, but definitely great.
