Offspring (2010)
From laughter to tears and all the emotions in-between
I loved this series. It was funny. It was sad. It was typical Australian quirky and whimsical,
The writing was superb. They never missed a beat. Some of the same writers and directors were involved in the creation of another entertaining Australian series - "Rake."
The lead characters - the unpredictable Proudman sisters, were played by Asher Kedder and Kat Stewart. What great comedic actresses. They were able to switch on a dime when the story required them to go from comedy to drama. I loved these people and cheered for them to make the right decisions.
Like all good shows, there was a wonderful supporting cast that all got to show their talents as the series gained momentum.
I watched 5 seasons on Hulu. Two more seasons were made but apparetly have not been released yet. I'm looking and watching.
The Art of Racing in the Rain (2019)
Tears of Endearment Meets Lassie
Sappy. It feels like a made for TV Hallmark movie. Kevin Costner, voice of the dog (Enzo), acted like he was asleep most of the time while reading a teleprompter (Trumplike). Save your money. They drummed up every tear jerk event they could find: death of a young wife, cute golden retriever who knew better than humans what was going on, an evil rich father in law, and a quick wrapup ending where everyone loves each other. Agh!
Long Shot (2019)
I just wasted two hours of my life
This was a horrible movie. Stupid sex and bathroom jokes abound. I should have read the User Reviews which all panned this sick attempt at humor. Unfortunately I read the professional reviews and the 7.2 rating and went based on that. I can't believe professional reviewers would like this movie. Charlize Theron is beautiful- of course. She never seems to get any older and if there is any redeeming value to this awful movie it is just watching her. Rogen, like some of his other roles, plays an overage frat boy. Looking for a romantic comedy? Watch When Harry Met Sally for the 45th time. It's a better use of your time.
A Quiet Place (2018)
Awful. A waste of time.
I can't believe the great reviews for this film. The whole premise was ridiculous. I almost walked out halfway through but I that much invested so I hung for the ending which fortunately came quickly without a lot of babble. I love John Kasinski and Emily Blunt but they should be embarrassed for being part of this.
