Ted Bundy: Falling for a Killer (2020)
Very Well Done
This documentary is extremely well done. I am of the age that these murders and the case were happening while I was a young adult, about 4 years younger than the first murder victims in Washington - so I had a facination about these cases. This documentary really shows the families affected, which you knew as a matter of course, but that that you never saw the parents and family unless you could see the local news, in one video. As one of the detectives said in the documentary: Ted Bundy was a thief - he stole the most precious things any one could have - these beautiful, smart women, with their wonderful futures. We still all still grieve: I did back in 1974, even in a far away state in the US, and I still grieve today for these families and for Ms. Elizabeth Kendall - what a brave sole, among the other brave soles that survived Ted Bundy.
Joan Didion: The Center Will Not Hold (2017)
Surprisingly Relevant and Touching
This film is a tribute to Ms. Didion, who was an amazing writer, and her writings were incredible that they were so easy to read and understand. Griffin Dunne does a fantastic job with this. I was actually surprised at how much I enjoyed this film and how much it made me think and maybe tear up a bit. She was an amazing woman whose writings were concise and she was completely unafraid to relate the truth, no matter how unpleasant or downright ugly - or how painful. We have all lost loved ones, children sometimes and certainly spouses, and even innocence in the political and social systems - she really was able to convey the feelings - the reality of loosing major parts of your life and to still survive. This is a wonderful film, and encompasses more than just a tribute to a wonderful Aunt. She is an amazing person.
Steel Magnolias (2012)
Wonderful Actors - Terrible Director IMO
I LOVE the original movie. I have never seen the play. I was so looking forward to this remake because I love these actors. I feel that the director wanted to keep the feel of the play, which I think Kenny Leon should have abandoned after seeing the result of the first few days of filming. The actresses should have been able to tailor the parts to their wonderful personalities... This was a lost opportunity to make a Wonderful movie, instead it is stilted and uncomfortable. I do not regret watching it, but I think it could have been 100% better by allowing and encouraging the dialog to reflect the later date of the film and the personalities of the actors.
