Tim Burton and Asa Butterfield are the two reasons why I saw this movie. Having not read the book I have no idea what the story is going to be like and I have nothing to compare the plot to. Reading the other user reviews i figured many people are disappointed that the movie was not nearly as good as the book. However, as someone who has never read the book I honestly enjoyed the movie. The movie has Tim Burton written all over it. The beautiful topiary garden especially the dinosaur reminded me so much of Edward Scissorhands. Miss peregrines home for peculiar children (the movie) is creepy and definitely not suitable for children. I am pretty sure the twins, the hollows, and the scene with eyeballs are enough to give children nightmare for weeks. Personally I am not disappointed. I liked the plot, the animation, the various peculiarity of the children, although there was something off about miss peregrine that I'm not sure what. I also liked the fact that there was a mixture of comedy, horror, action and fantasy one movie. 7/10 3 more missing because the movie didn't really appeal to me. It was an entertaining movie but when its over, i don't really think about it. I didn't really connect with any of the actors or the story. It was simply a fun to watch movie, but not a must watch. I guess this is another reason why many people are disappointed. Tim Burton's movies are known to be haunting and hard to forget, this one on the other hand, is quite dull. But i don't think its too bad and is still enjoyable.

I came in the theatre thinking this movie might be shitty since thats how movies with two parts usually turn out. They usually contain a lot of unnecessary dialogues just because the director has to spare enough scenes for the second part and end with an annoying cliff hanger. Fortunately, The Divergent Series: Allegiant - Part 1 isn't one of those part 1 movies. It was really fun to watch and they keep you at the edge of your seats for a good amount of times. There was some really predictable scenes like the one where the tattoo artist got shot, and you just know something is a little off about David although you can't really tell what it was. However, the movie turned out great, at least for me and my date. I couldn't get my eyes off the screen. I enjoyed the climax because i really didn't know what was going to happen and I kept wishing the movie was not going to end at an adrenalin pumping scene like the movie 'Salt' did. I really hate if a movie ends where it just began to get really exciting just because the producers want people to go see the second part. I liked the ending a lot and I can't wait for The Divergent Series: Allegiant - Part 2. The actors were good, not incredible, but good. I liked the effects, although they also weren't incredible. I liked the plot the most of all, but I still have questions. Hope it would get answered in the second part and that part 2 will turn out as good or even better. My date said The Divergent Series: Allegiant - Part 1 is his favourite out of the other Divergent series.

Definitely my kind of chick flick. Definitely, maybe is probably one of the best movies to keep you company on rainy days and lonely nights. This romantic comedy keeps you intrigued and guessing from the very first second. The way the plot was delivered is beautiful! I liked the story line, i loved the characters although i hate Emily haha, i loved almost every single thing about this movie. It's funny and cute and romantic. There is one thing i don't love though, and it is the opening plot. I found the plot where the obviously not old enough kids were taught about sex inappropriate. Especially because Maya keeps saying penis and vagina and sex. I don't find it funny and i doubt it would make any difference if the entire introductory scene had been cut out from the movie.

Definitely, maybe tells the story of how a man who's in the middle of a divorce and whose romantic relationships have always been a mess, figured out who his true love is while telling his daughter the story of how he met his going to be ex wife. I highly recommend this movie!

The quiet ones is more of a psychology thriller movie. It started off quite strong, it kept me guessing and intrigued, but as time goes, i realised the plot didn't really go anywhere, it's confusing and not in the good way. The speeches started to feel too long and the plot is getting more and more boring. The tension started to build again when Brian got all the information about Evey and there was some real potential of the movie to turn out okay, but it didn't, it didn't turn anywhere. I am disappointed because i was excited to come in and see this movie. I give it a 2 for being boring and having so many plot holes. But honestly, the movie isn't too bad, it is clever and it had potential, the actors weren't good but they weren't awful either.

Firstly, I hate fictional movies that involve animals or draculas or werewolves, basically anything that isn't human. But I was quite excited to see dawn of the planet of the apes because the first one was great, and although i thought it would be hard for the sequel to compete with the rise of the planet of the apes, it's safe to say it is just as good. Dawn of the planet of the apes tells the story of the special ape Caesar from the first movie who is now grown up and is the leader of the ape family, and his 'adventure' in helping humans get back on their feet after the epidemic of a deadly virus.  Dawn of the planet of the apes is a great movie with a great moral behind it. Honestly I was really angry when Koba killed Caesar and blamed it on the humans, it was totally unfair, but then i realized that it is fair to capture humans because what they had once done to the apes are worse than just putting them in a cage. This movie is an example of what goes around comes back around, but it can come back ten times worse. Not every humans are the same, they share similarities but that doesn't make them the same, and its not wrong to be a bad person, everyone has been bad, but it is not okay to turn our backs on each other. People are disgusted by animals but we can be worse than them at times. We put each other through hell all the time when we should have treated each other with respect and care cause we are family. I enjoyed the two hour movie all around. The storyline was okay, but my favorite aspect of this movie is the special effects. It's flawless. The movie was a little boring in the middle but it didn't bother me that much. Dawn of the planet of the apes is a great movie to watch with your family and friends. It is a movie about friendship, family, and trust. But not only the beautiful parts of it. I give it an 8/10

Saw this almost three weeks ago but was never really tempted to write a review. I've always liked writing reviews for movies, and i've always loved writing on IMDb, until recently. For some reason, I don't seem to agree with most of the reviews and ratings for many movies, but it's perfectly subjective whether a movie is good or not. Anyway, prisoners is not so bad. This movie has so much potential, especially with all the great actors in the movie. Unfortunately, the supposed to be great story line fell of short due to the darn long duration and not so convincing acting of the actors. First thing first, what's good about the movie. There are so many famous and talented actors in this movie. The idea of the story is actually quite good, it's a typical kidnap story but its not quite predictable. Now the bad thing about this movie. The story line is thrilling, but only during the first 30 minutes of the movie. Then the movie just drags the story all the way for almost 3 hours and didn't achieve much. Hell, even after i waited for 2 and a half hours , i still never got my ending. The movie didn't have an ending. It was an open ending, where the director doesn't give any closure to the story, leaving the audience to think and imagine for themselves whats going to happen next. The bunch of famous actors who are supposed to be talented were for some reason not talented at all in this movie. Their acting was terrible! No one was convincing whatsoever. Its like they didn't even bother trying. I'm so disappointed for many reasons. 1, the thriller was nice. 2, Hugh Jackman and a few other famous actors are in the movie. 3, the reviews are all so good. 4, thriller is my favorite movie genre and this movie was not that thrilling, on a scale of 1-10 the thrilling factor is maybe 3, and it was at the beginning of the movie when the children got kidnapped, oh and during the beat up session where the guy's face was shown all bloody and bloated. Overall, this movie deserves a 4/10.

I saw The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones a few days ago with my friends. We went in with a very high expectation since this movie's ad poster is all over Singapore. You can find the movie poster in almost every bus stops and every malls. I thought the poster was interesting and my friends convinced me it was going to be awesome. So we went in feeling happy and excited. Guess what? 2 out of my 10 friends fell asleep after only half an hour. I almost fell asleep after the first half of the movie but decided I should wait. Thinking maybe the second half of the movie would be good. Foolish me, it was just as bad as the first half. The storyline is quite interesting but it came out pretty dull and boring in the movie. The characters were not convincing and there were too many plot holes that it's hard for the audience to understand what the movie is about and what was going on. I still don't understand half of the movie. It really sucks because this movie had the potential to be great, especially considering the money it took to create and promote it. SPOILER: Don't say 'awww that's so sweet' or think 'oh I wish I was him/ her, this scene is really romantic' when you're watching the kissing scene of the two main characters in the movie. Because the movie suggested incest- that the two love birds are blood related siblings. Although the movie doesn't make that point clear and left it all for the audience to decide, we all know they are really siblings.

Saw it a month ago but was never really tempted to write a review on this movie. I had an extremely high expectation when i came in to see this movie because my friends who have seen it tell me it's really good, and the movie rating is really high. If you haven't noticed it's hard for horror movies like this (exorcism movies) to get a high rating. I am a horror movie lover And I have seen many horror movies whether it's modern or classic. Frankly I don't think that the conjuring is that scary, Some scenes did Scare me And made me jump off my seat especially the scene where the ghost was sitting on top of the girl's closet wardrobe- but I don't think it's enough for a great horror. The idea of this story is okay but I think the background story of why the house is haunted is not detailed enough and it doesn't really get to you. I don't get why the with damned the house instead of the people who made her hang herself or the whole wide world who don't worship the demon. I also don't get the thing with the nurse and fat chick. Call me dumb but some parts of the story line is rather confusing. Okay so thats all the minuses. The up side of this movie is that although the genre is not brand new,it is refreshing. The actors are talented. I liked the acting of all the actors. Even the children, they are convincing. Good job to the director, and good job to the writer, there are some plot holes, but you did great. It's not easy to pull of that storyline. Over all think this movie is worth watching although there are some flaws I don't think a movie can be flawlessly perfect so I think you should go and watch it since it's really popular. I give it a 7/10
