The Protector (2018–2020)
4/10
1st Season- Excellent; Second, not as good; third a struggle; the final not worth it
9 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The Protector is a show that grabs you and pulls you in immediately. I thought the cast was excellent and having to watch with subtitles, was just fine. The show has a lot of twists and that can be good or bad depending on how they are done and whether they make the show better or worse. At first, they make the show more intriguing but if you try to watch all four seasons, you will begin to wonder if it's worthwhile, especially during season 3. I kept hanging in there, hoping it would all come together, but sadly it doesn't. Never in your life will you ever encounter such inept characters; yeah I know that's the way they were written but c'mon, it gets old. You keep thinking, the Protector and his Loyal Ones will FINALLY start to kick Immortal A$$ but nope, at every turn, they become more and more dumb.

Hazar Ergüçlü who portrayed Zeynep stood out for me. She's an amazing actress. Burçin Terzioglu who was Rüya probably was the most interesting character in the show or was it because she is doppelganger for American actress Nikki DeLoach? They have to be related somewhere in their lineage.

In conclusion, the series ultimately disappoints entirely because of the writers. They began with a great idea; they hired very competent actors but then become transfixed on creating one twist after another until the story becomes boring. Choose something to binge.

Double Holiday (2019 TV Movie)

2019 Christmas Movies Best Effort bar none
28 December 2019
If you've watched as many Hallmark/Lifetime etc movies as I have over the past 2 years, you pretty much know how they are and how you would like them to be. Double Holiday is one that should be used as a blueprint. The romance was there, the talent was there and the writing was excellent.

There was no silliness, no fallout from misunderstanding and yes, they actually kiss.

Whether you're into Christmas, Hanukkah or Romance, nothing here will disappoint you. Kris & Carly were great together with a chemistry that came together naturally.

Double Holiday was amazing!

Best 2019 Christmas Movie
27 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Having watched 46 Christmas movies from 2019 so far, I critiqued each one on my FB page. This one stood out from all the others even though quite a few of them were very enjoyable.

A Godwink Christmas: Meant For Love had a more serious tone and the chemistry between the two leads occurred within seconds of their meeting. It was that chemistry that really played out well. Cindy Busby is always amazing and she really performed wonderfully in this story.

If you enjoy romance and long for a little bit more seriousness in the story line, you will enjoy this one.

Really Good; Could Have Been Better
27 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I have watched 46 Christmas movies from 2019 so far and this was one of the good ones. That being said, it could have been a lot better. First the cast. I really enjoyed watching the two leads together but despite a few great moments, the their love story was not very well written. The little girl pretty much stole the show with her delightful role.

I question why have the lead character be a famous singer when she never sings in the movie? Oh, she does sing with the choir at the end, but you don't hear her voice. Huh? An opera singer's voice would not lift above all others? If she wasn't going to really sing, why have her be a singer? She could have easily have been a famous actress or an heiress or any number of professions.

Lastly, what about the niece working in the bakery? She was quite pretty, single and easily could have wooed the male lead but didn't? Odd.

It sounds like I didn't enjoy it but I actually did. The countryside was beautiful. I just think better writing could have made it even better. Two scenes at the train station and only the conductor and the lead female; no other extras? I scored it 7 points because it did inspire some wonderful tears of joy.

Heartwarming Extraordinaire
3 July 2019
I had the pleasure of watching this tonight for the first time. I decided I wanted to review it and as I came to the page, I read one from someone who said the cast was awful. OMG, the first thought that came to mind was just how amazing the entire cast was. You might find a movie here and there with a great young child actor; maybe one with even two; but this movie had at least 5; probably 8-10 when you think about all of the children in the movie. The grownups were great too. Some have criticized the direction but hey, this was a movie that takes place during the depression. I thought they did a wonderful job bringing that time period to life. I found the movie looking for films with Danielle C. Ryan (Danielle Chuchran) who may be one of the most beautiful young actresses I have ever seen. She is also very talented and always brings her characters to life. I would and will highly recommend this movie.

Good but not very realistic
4 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It's a movie I enjoyed and one that I would recommend to others but strangely, it is also a very dumb movie that can be summed up quite easily.

The children lived in a room for 5 years. When did they learn to swim? Blindfolded no less. Then there is the male and female leads. Stuck in a house for 5 years; kids asleep, how the heck did she not get pregnant again? I mean what else was there to do in that house? LOL

Real Chemistry & Real Love Development
10 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Many of the movies of this type fail when it comes to chemistry between the leads and even more so, fail miserably when it comes to developing their coming together. This movie excels with both of these things. The chemistry is wonderful (totally lacking with the boyfriend) and the way the writers had them discovering it was real.

It doesn't hurt when the leading lady has such beautiful eyes that are so expressive. And the male lead with his silent approach of wooing her was perfect. If you love romantic story telling, you will love this one. Ed Asner was wonderful as well as Lois Nettleton. You can't go wrong with this one.

Avoid This One
27 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This is my first review that has ever been negative. The story is good, the acting is great but the satisfaction at the end will leave you feeling cheated. A mystery is only fascinating and worthwhile when it is solved. The writers have chosen to waste the viewer's time by not resolving the mystery. Was she bad, or was it him? It never tells you. The writers remind me of the ones who did the TV series Lost. They too played with viewers, creating sub-plot after sub-plot but failing in the end to resolve the mysteries and bring satisfaction. Not your usual spoilers because I didn't really tell you much. Just avoid it or else you may be writing your own negative review about the time you wasted on this movie.

Did anyone who shared a rating watch this movie? This was by far the best Music based movie I have seen. The leads were spot on and the music fantastic. The ending performance totally blew me away. If you like music and or dance, don't miss this one if you can find it. Bravo indeed.

Great Love Story; Even Greater Cast; But Was Something Cut?
25 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
It's safe to say that I will love most any movie with Teresa Palmer and if it's a romantic movie; all the more so. My reason for posting this though is to see if anyone else noticed what seemed quite obvious to me. With Gabby in a coma, the dog finds her wind chime which inspires Travis to build a gazebo at their special place along the beach. I say inspired but he was more obsessed at doing this than inspired. Suddenly after completing it, the chimes begin chiming and he is off to the nursing home. We see on his phone that he has missed several calls. He gets there and finds her awake and she tells him he is late. That's it. He never explains why he is late, what he has built for her nor how that helped him continue to be positive. Surely they cut a scene at the end where he shared this information with her, no? Yes, they end the movie at the gazebo but not one word about how it came to be built or as I mentioned, what caused him to miss all of those calls. It seems such a scene would have been one of the most romantic scenes in the movie. Instead of her telling him in the backyard that she heard him while in a coma, that dialogue would have been even better had he taken her to the beach and surprised her with the gazebo and how he came to build it.

Disappointed
28 July 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I am certain I am in the minority with my ratings for all three of the movies in this trilogy. I felt the first (Batman Begins) was the best and that this latest one was the worst. Then again, I was not thrilled with the 2nd one in the series either despite its incredible following.

First, I felt uncomfortable watching the movie after the tragedy in Aurora CO. As if I should not be enjoying it. But then as the movie unfolded, I found myself continuing to want more. I kept thinking, when is it going to get going; when is Batman going to kick butt? I easily predicted the ending which was applauded by the audience. I too was happy for the way it ended although I am not so sure how I feel about how they set up the next one with a new Batman. I would not consider Gordon-Levitt as a good choice for Batman though to return as a replacement for the commissioner Gordon type character which in effect he was in this movie would be fine.

The bottom line for me was that Batman did not take over and dominate in this movie, even with his rallying for the victory. He was less formative than Bane who easily beat him up. Even when he beat him later, I did not get the feeling that he was really the better.

Overall, disappointed with this final effort.

What a wonderful film!
26 August 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Like most people, I too have top 5,10,20 movie lists and in all cases, the movies which made my lists I had the pleasure of seeing when they originally debuted. This cannot be said for Dangerous Beauty which I only discovered 13 years later. I watched it after seeing Braveheart again and being captivated by the character played by Catherine McCormack. In fact I seeked out other titles that included her presence and I am so happy I did.

Dangerous Beauty is a wonderful love story that is told with such incredible passion. I know the film is taken from true characters and much of the story is as well from history. I doubt however that the true accounts could come close to the romantic story that is unveiled here. Catherine McCormack and Rufus Sewell were magic together and no matter the subject matter or the kind of life that Veronica Franco was dealt, their love remained true and intense throughout the film.

Even now, several days after seeing it, I continue being haunted by the two soulmates and especially cannot forget the last 15 minutes when both characters profess their love to each other and the world while on trial.

Anyone who is a romantic at heart would love this movie. Like me, it will bring tears to your eyes and make you smile for days later.

Love Actually (2003)
How did I never see or hear of this one until now?
24 August 2011
Warning: Spoilers
What a great film! I was especially fond of the scenes with Jamie and Aurelia as well as Mark and Juliet. In fact I would love to see a sequel showing those two couples together. Granted, a divorce or something would need to occur first before Juliet was available, but the expressions of love that Mark expressed truly touches your heart.

Jamie & Aurelia was my favorite. For each of them to learn the other's language, not knowing for sure of the other's feelings was so sweet! The whole concept of this movie which surrounds the love and affection that is so visible at airports and then following these relationships of a month's time was very cool.

I would recommend this to anyone who is romantic or who would might need reason to smile.

Earth 2 (1994–1995)

Rebirth of Earth 2
1 April 2010
With all the series being reborn (V, Bionic Woman, Battlestar Gallactica, etc), this is one series that deserves a second chance. In my opinion, the Terrains were the best so-called alien race ever created. The characters and amazing actors in the series definitely deserved additional seasons.

Today, with so few really good writers left with creative imaginations, viewers are left with new shows which were imagined by other writers. This is also true for movies and sadly, I doubt it will get better in the years to come. More and more movies and series will be redone as a result.

If you haven't seen Earth 2, I encourage you to rent or buy the DVDs. Its better than any show currently on TV or likely to be in the near future.

To producers out there, bring this one back!!

King Arthur (2004)
8/10
Dramatic, Visually Stunning, Powerful & an Incredible Soundtrack
3 June 2005
I've seen King Arthur 3 times now and each time I enjoy it all the more. I have to be honest, I didn't recognize any of the actors when I watched it the first time and for some reason, that made it even better.

The scenery was stunning and the storyline would have had me by its grip even if the characters had been 100% fictitious and it had been King Filo instead of Arthur. Each character was well written, each with a unique trait I enjoyed.

As riveting as the story was, the music by Ms Maire Brennan or Moya as I see she is going by now, is truly beautiful. Its also quite powerful at certain moments and reminds me of my favorite movie, Braveheart which also had a great soundtrack.

On thing that both puzzled me and disappointed me was a recent comment from Clive Owen (King Arthur) when asked why King Arthur wasn't the hit some thought it would be. I think it was great, one of the best movies I have seen this year.
