Great Father and Son Movie
9 November 2004
This is one of my all time favorite movies and evokes so much emotion from my childhood. My father and I have watched this movie at least 10 times together and it never gets boring. It reminds me of my days when we used to go on hikes in the woods and we would sing the theme song with me in my little coonskin (it's fake for all you animal lovers) cap. I just cannot get enough of this movie. It grows on my every time I watch it. It is one of if not the best Robert Redford movie ever. He does a fantastic job in this movie. The scenery is beautiful and makes me wish I was there in that unspoiled area. The dialogue, though there is very little compared to other movies, is brilliant. The old adage quality not quantity fits this movie to a tee. There are numerous one liners that have been incorporated into my everday vocabulary. "You cook good rabbit pilgrim." "....the Rocky Mountains are the marrow of the world..." "Watch your top notch." "Watch Yur'n." I could go on and on. Each character is colorful in it's own distinct way, making even the most insignificant ones unforgettable. The theme music is both haunting and beautiful and I've been looking to buy or download the soundtrack so if anyone knows where I could send me an e-mail. Not only does this movie have great characters, acting, dialogue, music, and scenery, but it also is filled with action and has several interjections of humor. I feel as though this is one of the greatest movies of all time and the special moments you share with your family watching it, just make this movie even better. (A 9/10).

One of the most Overrated Films of All Time
9 November 2004
Unlike some people I will admit to the fact that I was totally surprised by the ending, but in my book the ending does not make the movie. Even still the twist at the end, did not live up to it's hype and was not as good as movies like "The Usual Suspects". I am a fan of Bruce Willis and he has his moments in this one, but I for one cannot stand Haley Joel. I believe his best movie was Forrest Gump and thats because he had few lines and was in 5% of the movie. I am not saying that "The Sixth Sense" was a terrible movie, but it does not live up to it's hype and certainly not to the IMDb top 100 rating. It was a very uneventful flick with boring dialogue and a very dry plot. To put it bluntly it bored me to tears. After weeks of hearing praise and worship after the viewing I was severely disappointed. The ending was good, but the rest of the movie was just average. If you want to see a good M. Night movie, watch "Unbreakable", I think "Signs" was just as overrated. All in all I gave this movie a 6/10 or maybe a B-. Like I said before, it's not a bad movie, it just didn't live up to the hype, and was not worth paying to see.

Beginning Good Ending Sucks (Spoilers)
31 October 2004
Warning: Spoilers
Through the first half of the movie I was intrigued with this movie and it was very suspenseful, and all of a sudden this somewhat realistic movie turned into a weird alien flick. This movie could have been a whole lot better. The ending was totally forced and the viewer has no more of a clue about what happened in the end as they do halfway through the movie. If they would have stuck with the realism it would have been a good movie. I did love the special effects, especially when the NSA SUV rams the side of the car and when the detective got sucked into the sky. The movie could have just as easily ended with the government performing the study or covering up the plane crash for reasons of National Securtiy, as it did with aliens experimenting with human life. I just can't get over how stupid the ending is. As for the acting, it was superb, Gary Sinise is one of my all time favorites and I think Moore, him, and the rest of the supporting cast did a great job. I would give it a C-, 5/10, 2/5 stars, something around there.
