Serengeti (2019)
the script, as narrated by John Boyega, made it unwatchable
I give it 2 stars only because of the cinematography, and would've given a lot more stars, but the script as narrated by John Boyega drags it down & makes this series unwatchable.
I was able to get through about 10-15 minutes of the 1st episode before bailing & have no plans of watching anymore of this farce. How any thinking person in prodution ever green-lighted the script is beyond me. BBC, you hurt yourself big time by releasing this series with this script.
Having watched quite a few BBC nature documentaries, I could be wrong, but it somehow seems that some of the recent BBC nature documentaries, seem to be recycling the filmed elements
The Greatest Showman (2017)
Movie is well paced & goes by with very little drag
The tunes are catchy & acting is good. It's easy to let the movie take control of your emotions and be taken for a ride. Movie is well paced & goes by with very little drag.
Shrek (2001)
Best on 1st viewing
There are story elements in this movie, that make it a great animated movie, that can only be truely enjoyed the 1st time the movie is seen & lose their effect on subsequent viewings.
Amadeus (1984)
Movie is impressive til you find out a lot of it is BS
The movie loses a lot of it's punch when you find out afterwards that a lot of the content is in fact BS. Mozart travelled to a lot of European cities during this time. His music was a lot more successful than portrayed in the movie.
The 'paupers' grave was BS. It was common during that time for non-aristocrats to be buried in 'common graves' that were re-used 10 years later.
The bitter rivalry between Salieri & Mozart, the basis of the movie & that Salieri killed Mozart are BS & most likely come from a Pushkin short story. The movie totally ignores that Mozart became a Freemason 7 years before death & the importance it had it his life.
Fear the Walking Dead: The Wrong Side of Where You Are Now (2018)
like most ppl say, just way to stupid
There is so much!! stupid that you just wish that they would all get killed.
Basically, this series has been going to the dogs since the beginning of this season, getting more and more stupid with each passing episode.
Lethal Weapon (2016)
Expect this show to get the same fate as Rush Hour
The first 11 or so minutes of the episode 1 were there to try and draw you into the show and keep you there...to me, the first 11 minutes showed me how bad this series is..... OK, they have the money and fancy camera work, but....but very blah.... same old TV series with a new cover....same old typical script....lame writing...
It's almost as bad as what they tried to with Rush Hour some months back, but not quite as bad, but I do expect that it will most likely be canceled.
I did stay til the end of the episode to see if it had any saving grace....nope, not really.....there is so much good TV out there that I should waste time to watch something so mediocre.....And no, neither of the actors came even close to the magic that Mel Gibson & Danny Glover had, but they did do a better job of it than the actors that filled Jackie Chan's & Chris Tucker's shoes in the failed Rush Hour series.
Interesting result in the 573 votes cast so far...twice as many males watched..... the females gave the series the same high rating across all age groups....but the older the male, the less he thought of it...
I outright dismiss the %36 that gave this a 10 out of 10....There is very little, if anything at all, that deserves 10 out of 10! 10 out of 10 is something that is perfect, and if this is episode is "perfect" for you........nuf said
Rush Hour (2016)
really quite pathetic
I did force myself to watch all of the 1st episode knowing the whole time that I was really wasting time & there is a lot more worthy things to spend my time on.
This TV series must be aimed at prepubescent boys who have not seen any of the Rush Hours movies.
Chris Tucker could really get on your nerves, but at least he did have some natural charm and he could act.
And Jackie Chan, well he is a real pro and has style & wit in what he does.
The actors playing Chris's & Jackie's parts in this TV farce have no style, charm, nor any real acting abilities to speak of(well not after watching the 1st episode; maybe it's just nerves at the start & they get a bit better). And don't get me onto the script........
With different TV series, there is sometimes talk of when they jump the shark; in my opinion Rush Hour the TV series jumped the shark with the very 1st episode!!
There is so much on TV that I don't understand how anyone would watch this instead of something else at the same time slot. If you want to know what garbage looks like on TV, this is the series good place to start.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999)
I used to really love this show, but now it's become unwatchable
I've seen every episode of the original Law & Order, Law & Order LA, a lot of Law & Order CI and every episode of Law & Order SVU up through the end of Season 15 and just a few episodes from Season 16, and really loved most of it.
During Season 15 it started to be a pain to watch. It seemed that even the actors knew that the show now stank and were there just cause it's a well paying job and they didn't have other prospects. They didn't even bother to try to act anymore and most of the time just phoned it in. The actors who had integrity left the show.
The more the writers started to center stories around the main characters' problems, and especially events surrounding Mariska Hargitay's character Olivia Benson the more unwatchable the series became. I was really hoping that when Olivia Benson was promoted to head of the squad, replacing Captain Donald Cragen, that she would fade out and only get the screen time that Captain Donald Cragen used to get, but sad to say, not so :( The producers seem to think that because Mariska Hargitay had won a few Emmys, that she was the way to go in order to save the show. Emmy's are won for the acting in a single episode and not the whole season.
It's really time to pull the plug on SVU; they should've canceled SVU instead of the original Law & Order. The original Law & Order still had life to it and wasn't the stale manure that SVU has devolved to.
Season 1 through 13 would get 7 stars, while the last few seasons barely deserve 3 stars.
X Company (2015)
Must be aimed at 13 year olds
Having watched episode 1, I'm trying to figure out what age group that this is intended for and to me it seems like it must be 13 yr old.
But there is too much violence for an audience that young.
Seeing that the high ratings come from those between the ages of 18 & 29, I am VERY surprised. I hadn't realized that people in that age group were so easily duped.
I don't mind the age of the agents, but their ineptitude is beyond comprehension & unacceptable. How can anyone so inept be sent on any kind of mission besides cleaning the latrine? The only thing that the series has going for it is the fact it's filmed in Europe and they are able to provide some 'Europe looking' backgrounds for the farce that's played out.
It's like making a drama using the underground resistance characters out of the BBC series 'Allo 'Allo.
Z Nation (2014)
Z Nation is pathetic
After watching ep1: maybe.. After ep2. Huh After ep3: this here stinks big time. I really don't know what they were thinking when they OKed this turkey.
Maybe they were trying to cash in on the success of the Walking Dead. If so, they failed abysmally. I haven't seen Sharknado, but from what I've read about it, maybe the idea was a sort of Zombnado; who knows.
Z Nation has none of these; the script/dialog, or lack thereof, is terrible. And just to show that they lacked credible ideas they stick a guy in the arctic region repeating the same lines over and over into a radio just to kill time. And now they came up with a dog to keep him company, so that the guy is now talking to 'someone' instead of thinking out loud.
The acting is horrendous. Can't imagine the actors' work here will look good on the CVs.
At least The Strain, another zombie show, for the most has a good script and good acting and cinematography. It is a sample of a show that can easily compete with the Walking Dead.
My recommendation is to avoid Z Nation. Go clean the toilet instead, you will enjoy that experience more.
Trance (2013)
The emperor's new clothes
There is a lot of fluff here with little of anything else.
The story IMO is totally uninteresting and the editing does not help it at all. The editing style seems more to try to get you to think that there is more to this movie than there actually is.
The use of music withing the context of what's happening is another disaster, for the most part not helping in one least bit and just being an annoyance most of the time.
You can care less by the time the "conclusion/explanation" comes around, and feel like a fool that you had actually spent your time watching this drivel.
It is rated R for amongst other things "graphic nudity". So, the only thing that might be of interest to some is Rosario's camel toe, but you can now probably find a pic of it if you search the net.
It's good to see from the box office statistics here on IMDb that this movie has probably lost it's investors money. Though the cost is not mentioned, Boyle does mention the sum of 20 million is one of the extras.
