Adventure Boyz (2019)
Amazing Family Film
All credit to the directors, producers & local actors here in East Sussex. This is a great family movie, good story, lovely to see local places featured like Eastbourne, Hailsham, Hurstmonceux Castle (didn't know it was the largest castle in England! So I learnt something new)
The father to son's relationship is what makes this movie special. The morals are great, the father is trying his hardest to equip his sons for life, with everyday life lessons. Encouraging them to become stronger and stronger, both in character, adventure and strength. And they develop tons of it.
Will it be enough to bring criminals down!?!
Elle s'appelait Sarah (2010)
Please, please, please, read the book by Tatiana De Rosnay
The story of Sarah's Key, is probably one of the least known stories of the Second World War. On the 16th of July 1942, thousands of French Jewish families in Paris, men, women & children were rounded up. 4,000 children were in that number. The French Police rounded them up under the instruction of the German Gestapo. The Vélodrome D'Hiver (Vel' D'Hiv) was where they were held in Paris. Until being sent to an internment camp on the edge of Paris. From their the men were separated from the women, then the women had to leave behind their children who were under 12.
Sarah's Key is the horrifying story of just one family & how these events effected them. All of the French Jewish People who survived were then sent to Auschwitz, for extermination.
The horrific story of Sarah's family & the generations after her, are told in full in the book, unfortunately the movie cannot convey all that went on. Kristin Scott Thomas is fantastic as Julia. It's a story that needs telling... I hope the movie moves you, this is the kind of history that impacts you at the deepest level. I will never forget this story, the people & all that happened.
Ratched (2020)
Like a bizarre dream
This movie is impeccable in cinematography. Yet completely bizarre in content. I imagine it's like watching a movie whilst under the influence of a highly psychotic drug. It makes absolutely no sense. It is confusing, the storyline is hard to follow. Once you've watched an episode, it is incredibly hard to summarise what it is about. A form of 'new' lobotomy is introduced through the upper eyelid, surely that is barbaric & not a practice that is recommended now? Did they really do this to people? That in itself is extremely concerning. I got to Episode 3 & simply could not face anymore. As stated cinematography it was beautiful, as a storyline it was extremely confusing and I simply could not face watching anymore.
Ladies of the Lake (2016)
Desperate Housewives this is not!
Firstly, it has this irritating background music all through it. Secondly, the acting is absolutely terrible. Thirdly, thankfully, they only made 4 episodes at 25 minutes each! Fourthly, how did this get a 2018 Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Digital Daytime Drama???? Do not be drawn in by the Emmy this is Daytime Drama at its worst!
