Blockbuster (2022)
Such a missed opportunity
When I read the plot is hoped this would be something similar to Superstore or the Office.
It turned out to be nothing remotely close. The show has some of the laziest writing I've seen in a long time. There isn't a single funny joke here, characters are awkward and poorly acted. Everything feels forced for some reason.
Decor looks cheap and underwhelming like it was shot in some studio that was coincidentally already there and all they had to do was put up some blockbuster signs.
Also, there's no nostalgic feel or anything close to the vibe you used to get from these blockbuster stores.
Expected much more from Melissa Fumero.
The Terminal List (2022)
Compelling story but can't see a thing
The way this is colour graded just makes it unwatchable. Even the shots you'd expect to be brighter during the day, still look as though it's in the middle of the night. Can barely see facial expressions, or what is going in the room. Story is compelling and would've definitely liked to continue watching this.
At first I thought it was just my tv but after doing some research on fora, even people with the latest models of high end 8K TV's have this issue.
The choice of grading this in a darker tone so the viewer gets dragged in to the mood is understandable, but the DOP has dragged it to far to a point where this series is simply unwatchable for me.
The Rookie: Simone (2022)
Decent storyline buried under PC agenda
This season is full of sudden unnecessary woke statements which completely undermines all first seasons characters developments. But this episode takes the cake with an extremely annoying brand new main character who takes over an entire investigation while being a soon-to-be-kicked-out trainee. Writers might be loosing a lot of their audience if they continue along this path.
Gevoel voor Tumor (2018)
Great series that hits home
As someone who got diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer at age 21 this sure hit home. Both through great acting, editing and cinematography this gives a rather realistic perspective as to what it is actually like to live through such a situation.
Neighbors (2014)
Just nope
Don't bother, watch the trailer and you have watched the movie. Not funny, shallow and horrible acting. Two stars because DoP did a decent job.
12 Strong (2018)
Not that well made but enjoyable
Very poor editing and don't get me started on the CGI which seemed to be made an intern. Considering this is a relatively big budget movie with a (on paper) strong cast, the outcome was disappointing in every area except for that it was kind of enjoyable.
Also, very poorly told story. I bet the real story is great but there just isn't any bond with the main characters
Phantom Thread (2017)
Just boring
I don't write reviews that often but this was just a big disappointment.
The acting, costumes, decor and cinematography were all very well done but to me there just wasn't an interesting story to tell. Just felt like watching a borderline crazy dude who makes dresses go about in life in the 50's.
Expected more out of this and felt like it wasted my time.
