The Craft (1996)
All Time Best Witchy Movie
The Craft is one of my all time favorite movies. It's 90s, campy, witchy and nice to look at. It's one of the only good mainstream witch movies that actually shows some Wicca, however it's not all that accurate and still brings up lots of stereotypes which is why I rate 9/10. Also some of the actors aren't all that great but it adds the to campiness of it all. The storyline is pretty solid, it takes you along the main characters new reality of being the new girl in a new town, her mother is dead leaving her with her dad. It's somewhat of a commingled age story but it's more about her finding her true powers as a natural witch among her friends who don't have the best intentions. Highly recommend !!
Welcome Home, Roxy Carmichael (1990)
Better Than I Expected. Recommend for Winona Fans!
I honestly wasn't expecting much from this movie since I hadn't heard much about it or seen it streaming anywhere besides YouTube. I was intrigued by it because of Winona Ryder. Even though she was pretty young in this movie, her acting really shined. There was a lot of emotional depth from the characters which I really enjoyed. The aesthetics were also pleasing to the eye. Always love some 80s costume and hair.
I rate it a 7/10 because the story was good enough to be entertained, and there was some anticipation for the ending scene. However, it seemed just a bit underwhelming. I feel like there could have bit a little bit more effort put into it especially the ending, but overall a good solid move. Highly recommend for Winona fans.
Stewardess School (1986)
Good To Look At, But That's About It
This movie started off catching my attention with the bright 80s aesthetic, and continued to entertain me until about half way. The aesthetics unfortunately were not enough to make up for the overall boring plot. I don't think two men going to a place where "hot women" are supposed to be prowling around is anything new or exciting. It mainly just sets a stage.
Although the costume, makeup and hair are awesome that's really about it. The comedy is a bit outdated for this day in age, but the over the top 80s-ness of it all is still pretty humorous and campy. Also, for a movie that's X-rated its really not all that raunchy, just more suggestive.
Overall I think its a fun, campy 80s film not meant to be taken too seriously.
