Burning (2021)

Very thought provoking political film
2 December 2021
This film was very well done in that it brought to light the truth on many questions I was asking about the whole ordeal of Australia being on fire the summer before this one. It was very informative and I appreciate that at least for once the truth was shown about a political figure (Morrison) instead of the documentary being flooded by positive propaganda on his behalf.

My two main issues with this film are 1- virtually no Indigenous Australians are shown (apart from a vacuous blanket statement made on their behalf-not by them- along with some happy propaganda in the film's opening, and an author's perspective in the last five minutes of the film). What was their perspective on the incident and what did they have to say? I suppose we'll never know. Not this time, anyway.

Secondly and lastly, I was absolutely appalled and disgusted when Daisy Jeffrey stated that climate change is {paraphrase} "the biggest catastrophe that has ever faced humanity." That comment was ignorant and quite narcissistic in itself- has Daisy never heard of colonization and scum like Leopold II of Belgium? It's individuals like that and those mentalities that decimated the Indigenous landscapes of the world, and have led us to this disparate place in which we find ourselves now. She should educate herself before making such crass, inconsiderate blanket statements, or she or her cause risk never being taken seriously by true activists and activism efforts.

Even worse than the original
24 November 2021
The original 70s Carrie was pretty bad. I didn't really think it could get any worse than that but then I watched this... big mistake. Worst acting ever. Pathetic storyline. You call this acting? Cause I'm laughing, and not in a good way.

Horrible

This movie is the epitome of trying too hard. Really awful storyline and acting. Not worth the watch at all, nothing to be gained from watching this film. Quite disgusting, really.

Ok show
27 November 2020
A decent Black youth coming- of age show. Real topics are approached in a realistic way for the most part, aside from once in awhile where the humor may be tacky. Also, as someone raised by a Jamaican family, Dee ( the stepmom)'s fake forced Jamaican accent is just painful.

Lazy movie. Not believable.
3 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is pretty trash. A lot of drama, screams and moderate suspense, but an all-around disappointment. Geographically, this movie makes no sense. Near the end where the blond girl is taken on a boat, the man alleges that he is 'taking her across the river to Panama' (for sex trafficking). This movie is set in Argentina. Whoever made this movie is lazy or just stupid because they must have never looked at a map. It would not have been possible in real life for the 4-minute scene of the blond girl in the boat, jumping out and swimming to 'shore', that she SWAM FROM ARGENTINA TO PANAMA. This movie is beyond stupid, even insulting for someone to assume that no intelligent being would notice this slip. What a lazy, stupid director. I'm sure he has a lot more geographically incorrect movies that I will not be watching. Im disappointed in myself for sitting through this garbage. Dear Director, look at a map of earth before you start trying to make more movies. Ugh.

Ignorant so- called humour...
31 January 2020
When that p.o.s. Mancuso said "I wish I was a woman of color so I could get any job I wanted with no qualifications," I had to stop watching out of disgust.

I get that this is supposed to be a comedy, but that was way too far.

On the upside, I love Mindy Kaling!

The Lion King (2019)

HA HA HA More like the Clown King.
2 October 2019
The original lion king's charm and wit is lost on this one. The robotically- animated animals in this movie are completely void of personality or facial expression, so this movie is like a hodge- podge of random sequences and events, none that flow or come together in any logical way. This movie is a joke. A very sad joke.

If you enjoyed the original Lion King, please do not watch this. You will be hurt and disappointed. The director of this movie took a childhood classic and defecated on it... Glover and Beyonce must have been casted as a joke, their voices throw off the whole ambiance of the movie and turn it into something that it was not meant to be. I hope this movie was a September- Fools joke and that they will release the true Lion King sometime soon.

If this is the best they can do, every person involved in this movie's production should change career paths IMMEDIATELY.

Realest.
30 January 2019
I'm floored by the talent of these kids, I admire their raw honesty.

Such a shame that we live in a society that forces them into a mold- Forces them to prove something they have already proven time and time again... Tells them that unless they comply with society's rules they have nothing Even though their hearts and souls are already full of so much...

Society needs a reform. The world needs help from kids like this- I hope they all graduate and become politicians, influencers, and of course- teachers.

We need more principals like Miss V... all around the world.

Garbage Film
13 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Awful movie.

So the child is taken away from the neglectful mother by a young girl with little experience an good intentions... then in the end the child is returned to the neglectful mother even though she has not had to change at all? Basically by the end of the movie the neglectful bad mother is still a bad mother but the child is given back to her? This is very stupid. At least the movie could have ended in a way that let us know the child would be protected or taken care of, or sent to a better place. This movie was trash. It basically says that even if someone is a terrible parent they have the right to keep on pretending to be a parent? This terrible mom did not even put clothes on her kid... the kid was running around naked before the young girl took her away from the mom and put clothes on her. Tell me why the neglectful mom did not go to jail too? If the movie had ended with her in handcuffs it would have been a better movie. Truly disgusted by this film. Pray for anyone who thinks this ended well for the child.

Terrible movie. Ridiculous Irony.
8 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Pretty ridiculous. Really lost me on the fact that ( in real life) India was colonized by the british and here is a story about a little Indian boy who grows up in an Indian jungle but he has a british accent??? Very strange. Also, all of the jungle animals have british and scottish accents... quite stupid choice for voices. Wouldn't making all of them have Indian accents make a lot more sense?

Also, how does it make sense that the Indian people would call in a white colonist to kill a tiger for them? I know this is a kids' movie but it's really misleading and historically inaccurate. This will really distort a child's mind.

Apart from that the storyline was really lacking- not impressive at all.

Don't waste your time

Terrible directing Terrible acting (not convincing) Very lazy plot. The clincher/ tie-in at the end was basically just a huge cop out...

Do not watch this. You will never get your time back and it's so not worth it. You have been warned.

Meh
1 August 2018
Not a bad show but the characters all sure cry a lot.

The young characters also tend to throw the phrase "i love you" around a lot. also, kind of a very strange pattern how all of the ethnic characters in the show have a white dad. just a little weird.

I guess this show is, in essence, a teenage musical-soap opera.
