The Phone: The Conspiracy (2009)
This episode pissed me TF off and ultimately made me rage quit this show.
Cassie will forever go down in reality TV competition history as one of the most evil, selfish, despicable and diabolical trash of a human being ever to complete for a monetary cash prize. She and partnering contestant Joey (with some personal stakes of his own) played the game perfectly to accumulate the maximum prize and she ended up winning the final quiz to claim the cash at Seattle's Seahawks/Sounders stadium Qwest Field, only to go "F you, F your share of the cash and your dying relative teeheehee" when faced with the final choice of splitting the $50K equally or take it all in the end, leaving Joey behind alone inconsolable and in tears at the 50-yard line. I watched "The Phone" on MTV when the show first aired, I liked the action movie themed concept and wanted to watch every night it was on, but that moment was the end for me with that show only two episodes in. No wonder why it got cancelled after 6 episodes. May Cassie forever burn in hell on the induction page of Game Show Garbage. Had the Wayne's existed back in 2009, she'd be the winner.
Sing Me a Story with Belle (1995)
An underrated kids TV classic
I hear too many comments saying that this show is strictly for the Barney crowd. If they insist on calling it such, then they haven't even bothered to watch a single episode of SMAS in its entirety.
Unlike 'Barney', 'Sing Me a Story' actually follows a similar format to that of PBS's 'Shining Time Station' in which the main centerpiece of the show was the lesson being told from a story emphasized to the TV viewers using the source material (in this case, classic Disney shorts from the past) whenever an issue or a problem arises that requires the help of Belle and the gang to help solve.
What I like about this show is that not only did it appeal to both boys and girls despite that its main character is female, but it also encouraged kids to read & use their imagination to tell stories to others around them. It is also a show like this that also have helped set precedent for 'The Powerpuff Girls' & 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic' to find an audience & gain a cult following among its fans of both genders as the kids who watched it got older.
Straight Out of Brooklyn (1991)
Powerful message no matter any budget this film has.
Straight Out of Brooklyn is a drama that emphasizes the feelings and emotions of many children, teens, and young adults in this world who go through some the similar situations the main character goes though in having to live in broken homes of constant alcohol abuse & domestic violence witnessed from those responsible of taking care of them. The ending message gives all who watches this film an important lesson that the viewer itself is the most powerful force who can choose make a positive solution to break the tradition (or cycle) of abuse handed down, from generation to another. I definitely recommend this film to anyone who wants to take action by helping those who are victims of abuse & admitted abusers themselves who want to change themselves before it is too late. Therefore, my rating is an absolute 10.
