Lip Sync Battle (2015)
Fun, entertaining show, more for adults
Nice take on Fallon's lip sync battles. It can go a bit long, and sometimes the routines/ songs can be raunchy, but it's not on prime time. However, surprise unscheduled appearances by the likes of J-Lo, Mary Jo Blige, and more, as the celebrity contestants try to one up each other make it fun. Anne Hathaway's take on Miley's "wrecking Ball" is a classic. I can't believe I even enjoyed Justin Bieber's appearance. Derek and Julianne Hough's routines were surprising, entertaining and disturbingly wrong. Ha! I've liked every episode and even Crissy T is growing on me. LL Cool Jay can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned. He's an excellent host. I highly recommend it for some later night entertainment.
The Ouija Experiment (2011)
Not terrific, but have seen worse.
Let's get the spoiler out of the way first, though it's more of a comment on accuracy. The story the friends find out about occurs in 1976. It's mentioned in a newspaper article that a neighbor who is "mentally challenged" was the suspect and that his DNA was found at the scene. Well, first, "mentally challenged" wasn't really used to describe someone that way back in the 70's. Unfortunately, "retarded" or hopefully, more like "slow" was more often used. Plus, DNA was not even a useful tool for investigators for another twenty years or so, first being referred to and the science explained at the O.J. Simpson trial. That doesn't happen until 1995. Those 2 things really glared, almost as much as the "not quite up to par" acting. I won't go over the summary, as others have done so. Still, it had its scary moments and I kind of liked the ending, or rather, at least, the idea of the ending.
Spirit in the Woods (2014)
Not good at all.
I knew this movie was in trouble when across the screen toward the beginning, it printed that the filmmakers did "are" best to recover the footage. "Are "instead of "our?" Really? Unfortunately, my fears were confirmed. The actors didn't really act, and didn't seem to care that they didn't care. I kept hoping during the first hour that it would somehow get better perhaps when the action picked up, but the action in the first hour didn't pick up. The acting got no better. So, the entire first hour absolutely sucked, and the final part wasn't even scary. Waste of time. I think my own teenagers could have pulled it off better. It seemed a throwaway, just get it done mishmash.
