Suzume no Tojimari (2022)
Weak story, nice soundtrack
I'm gonna keep this short and say that I was terribly disappointed. I wish I hadn't payed for a movie ticket. To me, the core of a movie is its story. Unfortunately, I found the story disjointed and inorganic, too many holes... I was expecting this to a small extent with it being from Makoto Shinkai, but this really went beyond my expectations... Moreover, the story becomes really repetitive quickly. They basically keep doing the same things in different places.
This movie is mostly saved by two things: it's pretty to look at and pleasing to listen to. But really, just wait for it to come out on a streaming platform...
Modern Love: Take Me as I Am, Whoever I Am (2019)
Depicts a painful reality
As a person who deals with OCD, anxiety, and depression, I found this terribly relatable. It really made me cry a lot. I am very thankful for the fact that this story was told, because it might help others understand that having a mental health illness makes you suffer even more on top of your actual illness-related difficulties, since you can feel very embarrassed of yourself and scared of knowing that some people might not be able to accept your illness or handle you. It's certainly a painful reality.
The Vast of Night (2019)
Painfully slow
This movie is painfully slow. A large part of it is just dialogue and so much so that it feels like an audiobook... The ending is bland and cliché. Maybe Sci-Fi fans will find something in it, but for me, it was a very poor experience.
Space Force (2020)
Didn't find this funny
I was expecting something that made me laugh since this is advertised like that. Unfortunately, I only found episode 2 to be funny, very funny, actually. But beyond that, it was a real drag for me.
Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made (2020)
Who is this even aimed at??
I usually enjoy most Disney movies, even as an adult, but I really disliked this movie. I don't think the main character is a very good example for children, and for adults, the character development I was expecting isn't there (a lot more could have been done given the scenario), so you will basically waste an hour and a half waiting for something to happen to make the movie a bit more worthwhile and be very disappointed in the end.
Captain Marvel (2019)
Entertaining origin story
I mostly came here to explain that not all people who rate a movie title on IMDB actually write a review. So you can't calculate the average score by only reading through the reviews. We can't actually calculate an average ourselves since we don't have access to all reviews but only to the written ones; only IMDB's algorithms would be able to do that calculation. I for one did enjoy the whole plot and the intrigue I felt throughout the movie, and also the different origins that were revealed. I understand and agree with the opinion that the character of Carol Danvers is maybe just not that likeable. She comes off as a bit cocky, at times, and unidimensional. Her character isn't as developed as I would have liked. Despite this, I did enjoy the plot and origin stories, hence my rating.
No Good Nick (2019)
Terrible
I found this show terrible. The camera work looks very cheap. Acting is sadly below-average. And the volunteer club is absolutely annoying because they make a problem out of every single thing to the point it gets ridiculous. I couldn't handle the whole plot in general and dropped it in the middle of the third episode. I regret having watched the episodes before.
Mary Poppins Returns (2018)
Very unlikeable soundtrack
I don't usually takw the time to write reviews, I just give a movie a rating, but since people may be interested in this movie in par for its soundtrack, I feel absolutely compelled to say that I was terribly disappointed at this movie. The songs sounded very dissonant, to my ears at least. I didn't enjoy a single one of them, sadly. The plot is very simple, as expected. This movie could have only been saved by its soundtrack but to me, it couldn't be saved.
Mowgli (2018)
Feels incomplete
I didn't really loke this movie. First off, I wasn't expecting the degree of violence it shows, I wasn't a fan of that. Secondly, I found all animals to look a bit poorly, the CGI wasn'r great, in my opinion. And finally, I found it very rushed from the middle to the end and also filled with several plot wholes. It left me feeling like it was incomplete. I wouldn't recommend it or rewatch it.
