Bob's Burgers (2011)
Addictive but maddening. Hilarious and sweet.
The only character I can really say I understand is Bob and Linda's youngest child Louise. No subterfuge with Louise. She advocates chaos wherever and wherever possible. She seems to possess the greatest intelligence in the family and uses her intellect in the most Lex Luther fashion possible. The oldest child is Tina who is neurotic in the most extreme ways. In real life she would be unable to function enough to get out of bed. She is also boy crazy. And by crazy I mean insane. And then there is Gene who is just plain insane. He seems to be intelligent enough to understand his behavior but just doesn't care how rude or completely unacceptable his behavior really is. Linda is a loving mother to an admirable degree. She is usually on an even keel but occasionally she is also a little crazy herself. Lastly our hero, Bob tries to keep this wacky family socially acceptable but on occasion he just breaks down and goes nuts too. And those are some of the best episodes. When Bob goes crazy all bets are off and almost anything is possible. This family is in many ways a mirror of so many families if you look past the wacky adventures they get themselves into. At the end of the day as a family they try and do the right thing and support each other. And that's what a family is.
Rick and Morty (2013)
Totally fun and irreverent
I started watching this a little over a week ago and before I knew it I was binge watching it every day. This is simply one of the best things I have seen in years. Clever and hilarious with pop culture references mixed in for a laugh. I just got to season 5 and I'm watching Mortyplicity and finally decided to leave a review since I have seen enough to give an honest review. If you're a fan of Archer, I think you'll love this one even more. It's a dysfunctional family that stays together, somehow even when the whole universe is collapsing around them. And that's if you couldn't even tell which universe you're in at the moment. Remember this is adult swim so put the kids to bed have some mind altering adult fun.
Breach (2020)
Worst movie ever
I got to the point where this actually made me want to just watch something, anything else. It had some decent actors so I thought it would get better. Wrong. It just got worse and worse until the lamest ending ever. Ed Wood made better movies.
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017)
Pure entertainment at it's best
For all those people who rated this movie poorly you just don't get it. First of all the original story was pure fiction so the argument that this movie doesn't meet those standards is a joke. As far as suspension of disbelief it's a movie that is aimed at being entertaining so that's just not a requirement either. The dialog and wit in this are simply put, pure fun. I'm a fan of a movie that knows how to avoid being drawn out and boring. So many movies attempt to be more art than entertainment which I think misses the whole point when the idea is to make it enjoyable. The style of Guy Ritchie is definitely unmistakable and you can't miss it. That's certainly part of the charm and character as well. The character development isn't supposed to be on par with those so called Academy Award films and is in fact just not needed. If you want to sit and enjoy a film that will keep a nice tempo from start to finish with a lot of clever dialogue you won't be disappointed. So grab some popcorn and a drink, turn down the lights, turn up the volume and kick back because unless you just over analyze the films you watch, I guarantee this will entertain you.
Coastal Elites (2020)
Politics and pandering for idiots
Wow. This is just pandering to the political agenda before the election. It's not informative or entertaining. It is nauseating. Left or right doesn't matter. This is a new low for politics.
3022 (2019)
Can I rate this as a zero?
Did I finish watching. No. Why? Because for the first time in, well forever I realized this was a movie that just is so badly done it didn't deserve any more of my time. The continuity is non existent. The suspension of disbelief never happened even for a moment. Bad acting. Bad directing. Bad story. Waste of time. I include no spoilers because this movie is like rotten food. No need to smell it when you can see it's bad.
Beyond the Reach (2014)
Don't waste your time
This isn't a B movie. It's so much worse. Ed Wood made movies better than this. Lame story, lack of believable characters and 85 minutes of filler for a 5 minute story. The movie lacks credibility almost right away. No guide will take you out on a hunt without verifying that you have the permit. And no hunter would ever leave his rifle behind with the guy who just killed a person due to pure stupidity. This was one of the worst efforts by Michael Douglas (Madec) I have ever seen. Jeremy Irvine did a better job with his character (Ben) even though several times his behavior was just not believable. And the escape from jail near the end was just completely without any believability. He would have been in a locked cell. In the end when Madec shows up to murder Ben in his bed was just poorly scripted. No believable motive for Madec's behavior. Then Ben's girlfriend pulls the gun out of nowhere like a pro, shoots Michael Douglas and then just drops the gun. Pathetic. It was late at night and I was too lazy to change the channel is the only reason I even watched the whole movie. Hopefully you will read this review and spare yourself from the mental pain this movie would almost surely cause. Then again maybe you're going to love this movie. I for one did not.
Time Trap (2017)
Could have been a good movie but it wasn't
While the premise was a good idea for a movie the characters were unbelievably moronic and unbelievable. Suspension of disbelief was not achieved. The acting was not great but worse yet was the script. I was almost waiting for someone to say "duh ... what should I do?". Every time you would expect a character to do or say something obvious they would stand there and act like they were stupid or say something utterly moronic. I watched the whole movie and now I wish I hadn't. Ed Wood would have thought this was stupid and poorly written.
The Four Feathers (2002)
Does what a movie is supposed to do.
I'm not a movie critic so I get to actually enjoy movies. This was no exception. I've put off watching this for years but I finally just used on demand to watch it. I think a movie is supposed to entertain and inspire and this movie did. I saw a review that blasted this movie on technical merits of battle strategy and again on the speech at the end by Jack Durrance played by Wes Bentley. So I'll say this. It's a work of fiction and I like to give the director some artistic license to sway a little away from actual battle strategy. Having said that I grew up in a military household and know a fair number of vets. On the battlefield they do fight for the man on the left and the right. As for the actors I thought they all did a fantastic job and brought their characters to life in their performances. This was a great story and a great movie. Well worth watching at least once and I would even say more than once. So I guess I will give it a 9 and save the 10 for that movie that leaves me feeling emotionally and physically affected. This one came really close. There are a couple scenes with Heath Ledger and Djimon Hounsou that are so well done. Go see this movie.
Singularity (2017)
Makes Ed Wood look like Cecil B. DeMille
This is the worst movie I've ever watched. I won't waste any more time even on the review other than to say it's awful in every way.
