Unprisoned (2023)
What can I say
When you least expect it Kerry Washington doesn't disappoint.. comedy might not be her best suit but Delroy Lindo really surprised me. I totally agree with the previous reviews, it's got healing, family trying to figure out what's been missing after a loved one is locked up and going forward. Was totally blown away because sure it's a show about African Americans but this Caucasian white male enjoyed every minute. I felt for Delroy especially in episode 6 when they travel back to his roots, the poor guy just couldn't catch a break, every road turn he had to take detours. Please renew this show.
Champions (2023)
I was really entertained
By this movie too, woody can do no wrong, his compassion for the children was really a highlight, he actually looked like he was having a good time. I think the girl on the team stole the movie from them though. She was a hoot and the mouth on her was so funny and inspirational when she was trying to get the team motivated. Cheech Marin and Ernie Hudson added some extra help occasionally but Woody could have carried the movie with lesser known actors. It was good to see Woody playing basketball again especially after his getting some of his first acting roles in Spike lee's white men can't jump!!!
Of an Age (2022)
Started slow
But picked up after it seemed to go into a second act..two leading men seemed to be playing cat and mouse into getting into the relationship..like some are saying if you like weekend n before sunrise, this will be on your list too. Great music, unpredictable at first and then gets you going with a slight jump in the time frame and it certainly will tug at your heart a bit but all in all job well done in direction, action and the Australian scenery will most definitely have you wanting more or go back. I have been to Melbourne 2x n it's on my bucket list to go back again. Definitely 3x a charm.
George & Tammy (2022)
Emmy awards all around
I for one never been a fan of early country and western music growing up, I knew who they were and their stories of comnflict kinda reminded you of Taylor and Burton. Its sad they were married a short time, given their history they should have been married much lopnger and its obviousm depsite all the troubles they did really still love each other, it just didnt work. The performance of Jessica and Michael had me sold from episode 1, their dramatic performances from them doing their own singing,m it was just a blessing. I see where josh Brolin was first signed, I think it could have worked but shannon had Jones down from the get go. I sure hope when the Emmy nominations are announced come next year, these two will be on the top of the list and better win too.
Tár (2022)
Is there anything Cate Blanchett not do
As far as I am concerned she could read the damn telephone book and win an Oscar. As prior reviews, Cate slays it and with no imperfections. This role was definitely tailored made for her and Todd was right only she could pull off all the learning the musical instruments, conducting and all the technical savvy in being a conductor. Bravo Bravo she is easily a shoo in for another Oscar nomination not to mention her 3rd Oscar win. Especially on her learning German kudos. It was just a tad long but took a little while getting to the root of why the subject matter turned disturbing. What a ride!!!
The Good House (2021)
Sigourney soars
To new heights with this dramedy..starts off kinda cute n sweet with some comedy light as it is and then the drama hits n she runs off to the finish.. I loved the movie n great to see her n Kevin act together.
Side note saw it was her birthday the other day, hard to believe she is 75.
Would love to see her get nominated for an Oscar for such a little known film n it looks like it has quietly gone to dvd blu ray.
She did a very good job with the storyline very tough subject to grasp when it finally falls in your lap out of nowhere but the result was overwhelming a bit sad for her at first. Go see it.
